    I have a really good Wobble album buried away somewhere - had a great track on it called something like Becoming More Like God. I'm sitting on a beach at the moment so not easy to track it down as YT not streaming very well!

    Definitely part o the London pub rock scene that preceded punk, along with people like Ducks Deluxe,Brinsley Schwarz, Tyla Gang, maybe even the 101'ers. Saw them a few times between '76 and '78, always a good night out but the set was always a bit limited. Loved Do Anything though

    I used to own Jerry Donahue's original serial number #0001 Strat. It had a 'crafted in Japan' neckplate but Jerry told me much of the work was actually carried out at the USA Custom Shop. It didn't carry a CS logo on the headstock though. Either way it was superbly built and finished, still regretting that I ever sold it to a mate of mine who was an immeasurably better guitarist than I. This bass looks great, always fancied a Paisley Tele and definitely never seen one in this colour before

    Enjoying Naxos, sitting in the beach bar watching the sunset now There is a lot of nudity on the beaches here though, most of it older German couples and a lot of older single guys as well (which I kinda expected, lol). Not a lot of body hair around though, really quite unpleasant when a shaved naked 60 year old strolls less than a metre away on the beach

    So here I am lounging on the beach in Naxos and discover the beach bar has free wi-fi! I've been having a bit of a '70's live prog fest with Yes and Genesis and have just been listening to the remastered version of Genesis Live for the first time in about 20 years. Mike Rutherford's live sound seems much more aggressive than I remember hearing from the studio albums, especially on the opening track, Watcher of the Skies. It's actually interesting to hear how his tone changes from song to song, with a much mellower sound for the next track and hen somewhere in between the two for the third. At times it's very Chris Squire sounding and I'm pretty sure he was also using a Ricky during this period. I wondered if anyone knew what sort of amp setup he was using in those days? Maybe an overdriven Ampeg?

He never played my bass you are right, and fodera doesn’t install the OBP3. I can't really see how it's going to play, sound or feel like a 'Matt Garrison' bass? Stas, the builder, has worked with Fodera, and the feeling is really the same… the finish is identical (I’ve owned 5 fodera so I know what I say), same neck and body size…… the sound is different cause the OBP 3 is not the Pope…." I'm not sure what difference a Butterfly would make other than an additional copyright infringement that an ex-amployee doesn't really care about because he lives in Russia & is beyond the reach of US law? I'm gonna duck out of this one now. To my mind this isn't a 'Matt Garrison' bass as listed, it's simply a copy of one, with lots of fundamental differences to an original, and that's really a very different thing. I'm sure someone else will enjoy it.

    How about a Kubicki? One of the 5 pre-sets is designed as a passive 'Precision-alike' but you've got all that flexibility from the twin pickups in active mode as well

    Nice bass I just sold one very similar that went to Israel. Might need to give it a bit of time to settle in to our climate (especially if you're changing string gauges). Some Alembics can be quite sensitive to changing climates and seasons.

    To get the maximum amount you'll need to try and suss out exactly how much of it is original, each part that is retro-fitted hurts the price, even I it might have been an improvement over the original. Try to get Someone to take lots of pictures, take the neck off and check the heel stamp, while this is done get clear shots o the neck cavity as it might help show an original paint colour if its been refunished, get the serial numbers on the control pots and pics of underside of the pickups etc. The differences here could make up to a grand difference in value! All a bit time consuming but if you can prove as much provenance as possible it could really help increase the value (and avoid issues later on if it's sold ad 'original' and turns out not to be).

    Since first trading some gear with Phil through this forum I've come to know him quite well & watched the progress of BassGear with great interest. Feels like the move to the new showroom closer to London, increasing stock levels & new manufacturers coming in as well is all part of quite a big leap forwards. I held the fort for Phil last weekend & had a great time trying out all his stock and playing 'host' to SiBob for a while. The big thing for me when dealing with Phil is that he's as much an enthusiast for all things bass related as he is a bass retailer. He'll happily natter about stuff for as long as you like even if you have no intention of buying but just fancy a bit of an ogle at some of the amazing basses he has in stock

    I've got an LA Pro, great guitars. Keep threatening to sell it but like to have a 6 string 'in reserve' and these earlier Eggles really are top notch!
