1. Ok - so I thought this was more or less sold but looks like it might not happen now so thought I'd resurrect this little baby again Price is £1,150 shipped anywhere in the UK
2.
hi Barrie, how's it going? As far as I know the chambered bodies weren't developed as a weight loss tool, rather an experiment with creating a more resonant instrument. I seem to recall recently reading (probably on TB) that MT was going to phase out making these models, I don't know if that's true or not, but I'm sure it would probably always be available as a custom option anyway. This is around 8.5 lbs, probably about a pound lighter than the others I've played, and on the light side for a 5-er I imagine. Cheers G
Hope it sounds as good as it looks Reason for asking is that I read an interview with Roger Sadowsky and he said that he started working with chambers because he simply couldn't find wood of the quality he wanted that didn't weigh a ton. I saw Mike T (along with Joey Lauricella, Jimmy Coppolo & Jens Ritter) speaking at Bass Player Live last year. Seemed a really nice guy and, unsurprisingly had a huge amount of knowledge about luthiery. I've shown the event below purely because it's the only official pic from Bass Player that I managed to sneak into - it shows the back of my head, lol :
3. Looks great Gwil - love that redwood burl top I didn't know Mike T was making chambered bodies now. I'd never really thought of MTD's as being heavy basses, is he doing this in order to use different tonewoods that are traditionally heavier than regular MTD woods?
4. Umm, now what I need to do is find someone else with a '59 P bass, get them to sell it to advertise it for £50 & then sell it to me at that price. At which point the 'price match promise' clause kicks in and the other guy picks up the one from the Gallery for £50 as well. I then sell him his bass back for the original £50 plus a decent 'drink' for sorting the deal . . .
5.
Stop it!!!
Sorry - that was a 'just got home from a nice meal out with the wife and in a cheerful mood' comment, lol.
6.
Hmmmmm that is a stunner!!! I have been gassing for a little white number for a while... ~Not sure about trading my Lakky JO (which you may not even want!) Looking at online bank account now...................................................
JO's are always easy to sell I can split payments as well of that helps
7. If you are going to spend some time playing at home and will enjoy doing so then who's to say it's not a great investment? It'll keep you happy, interested, alert and improve your overall mental well-being. Sounds Luke £3.5K very well spent to me!
8. Nobody interested in a pair of tickets for this? Yours for a tenner each N.B. I'll post these in the proper for sale thread, just thought I'd leave this here as a reminder to people that the gig is on next weekend!
9.
Where do you get all these basses......
Australia, lol Well, that's where this one came from anyway!
10.
Thats a 4000 (ie, the one without the neck pickup). Shows (as usual) that its in the fingers not the instrument! Oh, and Barry, you do not need a Rick
I have owned a pair of jetglo Ricks in the past, one was a late '73 (post checker binding) that was in need of a lot of TLC and a mid '80's that was immaculate. Never really got on with them - doesn't mean that I still don't think it would be nice to own another, lol.
11. Well I never, Stan da Man playing a Ricky with really early Return to Forever: I've seen him on a few different basses over the years but never spotted him on a Rick before. There's a few of these vids on YT so maybe I've just missed them over the years!
12.
AAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHH.......i need this bass!!! This would sit lovely next to my 4,5 and 6 Euro LX's.... Anyone want to buy a Euro 6LX and a Euro 4LX!!??..
Happy to consider trades for a Euro
13. Still mulling over a couple of trade offers on this beauty but thought I'd bump it back up just to see if there's any more interest out there
14. This was very nearly gone but deal is off now so still available if anyone wants a super-lightweight great sounding Sadowsky NYC
15. Ask BB5 to screen dump the list of albums on his Ipod - that should give you a good idea of what to look out for
16. I had one of these with castors fitted - surprisingly easy to move around for a large(ish) cab & sounded great with my old SM400
17.
No, the black $$.
That's Ok then - I always associate you with the white one so would have been dissapointed if that was to go, lol
18.
Sounds ace! Sounds like my Warwick that I'm swapping it for actually
Not the white fretless?
19. I had one for a while and really liked it. Fit & finish was good, super slim neck, good weight (I seem to remember it being very light but it was a while ago now, it certainly wasn't heavy). Probably a better all round 'gigging' bass than my original '78 Fender J. Made me completely re-think my attitude towards Fender reissues to be honest.
20.
Thanks for your interest Not sure what you mean when you say marmite to play?
Sorry, wasn't very clear. Didn't mean playability but the overall look of CT basses. Personally I think they look kinda funky but a lot of people take one look at those scrolled upper horns and all the detailing in the carving and go "yuck", lol.

gone

My brand new Staccato does exactly the same thing, pretty sure my old RH450 did as well. In fact the RH did something similar on power down as well. I don't think it's anything to worry about. I asked TC & they told me something about just circuits powering up.
22.
You have so many awsome basses.
Too much time spent 'shopping' last year, lol! Trying to keep my spending under a bit of control this year - let's see how long that lasts. . .
23.
As as new convert to all things spector, i have to say that is stunning and the abalone inlays def look very classy, i believe the USA,S have a pau ferro board while the euros have rosewood, which will only highlight those inlays, im currently gassing for a spector 4, a beautiful bass being sold by an asolute gent- bump
Thanks Lee I love Spectors, were it not for my Fodera fetish this would be my main gigging bass, just so 'playable' I think. . .
24. Does it have a £2.5k discount as a quarter of the strings are missing Just kidding, looks like a really interesting bass. CT's are a bit 'marmite' to some people, and the time delays on orders are legendary, but I've always thought they looked like fun and supposed to be great to play!
25. Having a bit of blast at listing a few basses this week The latest is a very deep & rich Dakota red custom P with matching headstock. This came all the way from Australia in record time & without a single mark on the box - the delivery man didn't believe it had come that far in such perfect condition. I was ordered as a custom build with a 'mid' sized nut width of 1.625" which is bang in the middle of a regular Sadowsky J & P. I struggle a bit with 1.75" nut widths and, although it doesn't sound like a huge amount, that slight reduction works much better for me. The neck profile is really nice, maybe a bit chunkier than a regular Sadowsky J neck - not sure if Sadowsky P's have this profile as standard as this is the only one I've ever played! It also has a plain fretboard with no markers - this looks much nicer in the flesh than in my photos. This was one of the key custom parts of the original order and not something Roger S normally commits to. Personally I think the plain fingerboard looks great with the matching headstock Body is lightweight swamp ash and neck is all maple. Pickguard is parchment white, not as bright white as the flash in my photos is making it appear. It has those clever Dunlop straplocks that work fine with a regular strap or can be locked in place for extra security. It also has a, rock solid, original Sadowsky branded D-Tuner and full Sadowsky active circuit with passive option and VTC. This really gives it a surprising amount of tonal flexibility for a single pickup bass. In passive mode it has a nice classic P bass sound, flick to active and there's a volume boost plus a more modern tone & then there's the additional options to boost either treble or bass via the onboard pre and/or roll treble off with the VTC. Sounds huge with some bass boost & a little treble snap through my Aguilar rig Unfortunately despite the fact that I really love the look, feel & sound of this bass I simply don't get on with P bass body shapes I've been playing my basses higher and higher over the past few years and this just doesn't seem to 'gel' for me with a P & I find my wrist aches after a while - note to self, stop buying P basses just because you like the way they look! It's in great condition with just the tiniest of marks on the tip of the headstock (too small to photograph) and some string marking on the pickup. There's a few tiny swirls on the scratchplate from general player wear but it really does look like a very new bass (it's about 2.5 years old I think). There are some markings on the bass, the biggest of which would be on the pickups. There is also a very small ding on the rear side of the neck behind the 6th Fret and one on the tip of the headstock (you can thank my guitarist for that one) It comes with a Sadowsky hard/soft case, all the case candy (polish cloths, polish, tools etc) as well as the original paperwork from Sadowsky. This cost US$3,925 when originally ordered so I'm guessing it would be easily over $4,000 (and a 9 month wait) to get one now. With shipping and duties I wouldn't be surprised to see that working out at close to £3,500 in the UK. Happy to ship anywhere so long as payment for the bass and shipping is made in advance. Also happy to consider trades for something that might be easy to sell like US Fenders, Lakland Skyline, Stingrays or maybe even a Metro Sadowsky if someone is looking to trade up to an NYC There's a batch of pics taken with a bright flash below - some of these don't really do the lustrous red finish justice and make it look a little lighter than it is in real life. I may have some other pics kicking around that show the colour better so I'll have a hunt and see if I can dig them out
