I expected a higher level of service from a manufacturer of high end basses.
Have you tried this address: [email protected]
2. Wow, just realised Scorpio isn't here anywhere! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfLnqoL-lRs...feature=related I love some of the YouTube quotes on this: "he thing is, not only is this jam just raw and funky and dirty like it just got pulled straight up out of some funk garden of eden and served straight to your ears, unfiltered, but the thing is, that sh*t was getting played on top-40 radio! we're talking conga and bass solos and no "baby i love you"s! just a good f***ing jam served up fresh on the am dial. that's so hard to imagine in this modern corporate controlled day and age. LOVE IT!!" "This is a funk REVOLUTION right here!!! Just listen to the breakdown and think of how many people have sampled/ripped off the funky drummers/conga part... Then Babbitt comes in and lays down one of the best bass solo you will ever hear. As they say in the song "GRAB IT, BOBBY!""
3.
Barrie..man you know a good track..amazing stuff..
I hadn't heard it for years & they played it on the PA at the big Incognito anniversary gig at the Town & Country - set the floor alight I have a great 4CD box set that's full of stuff from this era. Kicks of with Archie Bell & the Drells - Let's Groove: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-svXGMYjLs
4. The main dinosaur hall at the Natural History Museum for a Price Waterhouse coopers summer ball - playing right behind T-Rex & over-awed by the amazing architecture : Great gig - first, and only, night that we got a band 'rider' for food & drink. They even supplied our own private chef & a waitress!
5.
.for two check Crown Heights Affair..
Bit cheesy but I used to love this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUaF1mHwunM
6. Here's an old one I forgot about - MFSB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INSW12-771o Just love this groove - sounds amazing at very loud volume in a club
7.
I totally agree with you. Utterly awesome feel. Ever since I watched the youtube link to the live worhip in chicago, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_KuD0AjWdE I've been hooked. From what I can gather he's a very modest guy who's driven by his religious beliefs, otherwise I think we'd've heard much more of him. He's my main inspiration to learn and improve as a player. God Bless him!!
This is one of my faves - I often watch when I feel like being livened up a bit!
8. LEDs all sorted - no problems at all Currently residing at Mr Shuker's workshop for a bit of truss-rod tweaking - action will be a killer when it comes out
9. Seriously nice P bass here everyone - anybody fancy a trade for something interesting?
10. Been playing the Zon tonight, such a nice little bass - maybe I'll just keep it for a while, lol. In the meantime I had accepted an offer at £1,200 so I'll throw that out there to everyone to see if it makes a difference
11. My Performance P bass came with a Bartolini & I like it a lot. I've often thought Bart's could sound a bit subdued but have really changed my opinion over last couple of years.
12. The Performance P bass I have is the nicest I've played - it's active & sounds just how a 'modern' P bass should to my ears
13.
I posted a 50w practice combo the other day and was amazed at just how bad the postage was - £25 on Parcel Force 48. I kind of knew when I saw this, it was just his way of saying "Buyer collects". He is new to the site and doesn't realise you can just select that option. I'd love to know how to get the prices down. I always seem to spend a fortune on postage costs & would love to get it down.
Interparcel is a good place to start - they are effectively a broker for a number of different delivery services so you get to see who's cheapest across DHL / Fedex / Citylink /TNT etc. Watch out for the fact that the opening prices they quot are ex VAT & insurance over £50 costs extra. this latter part can double costs if you've got something worth over £500 or so. It's worth trying to measure weight & dimensions accurately as well - this can make quite a difference with some services. Interparcel are super helpful if a parcel goes missing or there's any dispute with the shipper.
14. I'm loving those white pickups - well worth the wait! Matching headstock is very nice as well Looking forward to hearing how it sounds
15.
"this is a collection only item. paypal or cash on collection." no need to enquire further, shirley ?
He says that in the text but have you checked the listed postage price? I only noticed because I sometime search by "show highest priced items inc P&p first" This came top of the list by a considerable margin
16. I'm guessing he doesn't sell very much then. . . http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/used-Behringer-1200w...L#ht_500wt_1108
17.
Hmmm, maybe Punkfest on Saturday instead of the Alembic????
Or both - but keep them chained down, lol.
18.
I played this bass for a long time last night and enjoyed it so much that I am withdrawing it from sale. I will find the dosh I need for the taxman elsewhere.
Good man - I think this bass is so versatile & really rewarding to play. Still think it'll look great at a punk gig too!
19. These are great cabs, I sold a pair a little while ago & still kinda miss them
20. I can tell you what mine went for if you need a valuation at a later date In fact - so can Michael because he sold it to me & I moved it at the same price, lol.
21.
I have sold it now Barrie...the weight was probally one reason, and i never really got on with the preamp filters and controls
I think all Alembics are pretty heavy If anyone is interested in a Rogue & concerned about the complexity of the controls then this particular one isn't representative of a standard model as it had the full Signature electronics package installed.
22. I owned a 5 string Rogue for a while. It went to Bassmanady - not sure if he still has it or not though.
23. Ah that's a shame. I love some the classic Gap Band stuff They were fantastic live - great showmen.
24.
Thanks again. As an opener I have put up a message in the 'Troubleshooting' section in the Alembic Club ...which will almost certainly be read by the Alembic factory-based mods. Fingers crossed
That Alembic forum has some real pro guys who know everything about their favourite basses. I met a couple of them for dinner one night when I was last in the States. Happy to ask their specific opinions if you don't get much joy from your post
