1. The Performance P bass I have is the nicest I've played - it's active & sounds just how a 'modern' P bass should to my ears
2.
I posted a 50w practice combo the other day and was amazed at just how bad the postage was - £25 on Parcel Force 48. I kind of knew when I saw this, it was just his way of saying "Buyer collects". He is new to the site and doesn't realise you can just select that option. I'd love to know how to get the prices down. I always seem to spend a fortune on postage costs & would love to get it down.
Interparcel is a good place to start - they are effectively a broker for a number of different delivery services so you get to see who's cheapest across DHL / Fedex / Citylink /TNT etc. Watch out for the fact that the opening prices they quot are ex VAT & insurance over £50 costs extra. this latter part can double costs if you've got something worth over £500 or so. It's worth trying to measure weight & dimensions accurately as well - this can make quite a difference with some services. Interparcel are super helpful if a parcel goes missing or there's any dispute with the shipper.
3. I'm loving those white pickups - well worth the wait! Matching headstock is very nice as well Looking forward to hearing how it sounds
4.
"this is a collection only item. paypal or cash on collection." no need to enquire further, shirley ?
He says that in the text but have you checked the listed postage price? I only noticed because I sometime search by "show highest priced items inc P&p first" This came top of the list by a considerable margin
5. I'm guessing he doesn't sell very much then. . . http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/used-Behringer-1200w...L#ht_500wt_1108
6. Sure you don't fancy the WL -
7.
Hmmm, maybe Punkfest on Saturday instead of the Alembic????
Or both - but keep them chained down, lol.
8.
I played this bass for a long time last night and enjoyed it so much that I am withdrawing it from sale. I will find the dosh I need for the taxman elsewhere.
Good man - I think this bass is so versatile & really rewarding to play. Still think it'll look great at a punk gig too!
9. These are great cabs, I sold a pair a little while ago & still kinda miss them
10. I can tell you what mine went for if you need a valuation at a later date In fact - so can Michael because he sold it to me & I moved it at the same price, lol.
11.
I have sold it now Barrie...the weight was probally one reason, and i never really got on with the preamp filters and controls
I think all Alembics are pretty heavy If anyone is interested in a Rogue & concerned about the complexity of the controls then this particular one isn't representative of a standard model as it had the full Signature electronics package installed.
12. I owned a 5 string Rogue for a while. It went to Bassmanady - not sure if he still has it or not though.
13. Ah that's a shame. I love some the classic Gap Band stuff They were fantastic live - great showmen.
14.
Thanks again. As an opener I have put up a message in the 'Troubleshooting' section in the Alembic Club ...which will almost certainly be read by the Alembic factory-based mods. Fingers crossed
That Alembic forum has some real pro guys who know everything about their favourite basses. I met a couple of them for dinner one night when I was last in the States. Happy to ask their specific opinions if you don't get much joy from your post
15. Marc - you are the only person I know with a 'valve collection'. I admire your style
16. Price reduced to £1,200 Potential options to take credit cards on this if that helps
17. Had a couple of interesting trade offers on this but nothing confirmed yet - happy to consider trades though. Especially for something that might be easy to sell like a US Fender or MusicMan or a Lakland Skyline etc. Here's another pic from Mike's original thread :
18. And then there's : french solo bassist Albin Suffys at "Zon Guitars" (in California) testing one of the most fabulous fretted bass in the world: the VB-4, created by the so talented stringed-instrument maker, Joe Zon. One thing I should add to this post is that I'm selling this bass, along with a few others, purely to make way for some new incoming basses & I simply can't play them all. I'm not desperate for money or in any huge rush to sell and, although I'll listen to offers, I believe the price I've set is fair for something that's as rare and desired as this

Well bugger me - what sad news. I was out hunting for band names today & spotted the Jellied Reels & raised a smile thinking about Si. I'm another who only ever met Si by message and email but always felt he was a 'mate' I could ask for help on anything bass or web site related. He went way beyond the 'call of duty' to help me with some web dev work when he was supposed to be packing to go on holiday and then when he was actually away &, supposedly, not going online & sending messages to people. I'll certainly miss him here a lot.
20.
Id love to buy this, but ive just recently brought a blue bass! Ive owned some shuker basses and can safely say the build quality is awesome buy with confidence, Barrie is very thorough and accurate with his descriptions and is a gentleman of the highest order.
Thanks Mark One thing a couple of people have asked me about is the weight of this. It comes in at bang on 9lbs (maybe a fraction under but not much). I can honestly say that it 'feels' lighter on the strap - I have no idea how but it seems to balance so well that I would have guessed it to be a good half pound lighter!
21.
The rarity of this set neck VB4 should be warranting a quicker sale especially at the price.
You know, I don't think I've ever seen another one in the UK - other than in the hands of Michael Manring
22. How about some beaver? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8df2wZ7pido
23. I generally try to pick up all of HH's albums - sometimes a bit patchy but there's always some real gems kicking around and that falsetto kills me every time! This track sounds a bit messy in a couple of places - not sure if it's a remix or just a glitchy upload? I think this is the original version? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1hjI6XVoRU...feature=related This is my other favourite with Stanley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT7ZM6HLfig
24. Wow - didn't you just buy this recently?
25.
The Consat Straight; I watched... and watched... and watched... but managed to stay my bidding finger! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Marleaux-Consat-Stra...ents_Guitars_CV
Phew - pleased it was a single Hb design - I don't really like those very much, lol.
