They put the intrusive t in and he flung them across the rehearsal room where they lay until people like me 'recycled' them. I joined in a band Brinsley had just left a couple of years ago, but apart from this he seems to have retired from music.
Is this the same Brinsley who used to play with Graham Parker? Really nice guitarist if so!
2.
Lovely too meet you, Phil! Yes, I loved the Fodera, but was totally bowled over with Barrie's Wil Lee Sadowsky - Could you tell?! Great to meet Toasted and to have a good chat with Barrie - It's been too long, mate
I am besotted with the Fodera & it's come home with me - need to decide very soon if it's going to stay for good. . . I think I realised the moment when you said "that's possibly the best bass I've played this year" about the Will Lee that you quite liked it Rich Good to see you again too, hope the gig tonight goes well (in fact you're probably already playing!).
3.
I never thought I'd say this about an S2 (never been keen on the body shape)... but that S2 really is sexy as hell.
You should play / hear it! Sounded awesome & a dream to play Loads more tonal flexibility that I'd have thought possible from a Status.
4. Had a string of trade offers for this but nothing really that I need at the moment so it's still up for grabs. I did get one request to split the head and foot switch which I'm vaguely loathe to do as the controller is intrinsic to really getting the best out of these heads but if I can sell both independently then I'd go for something like £600 for the head & £75 for the switch
5. Gotta have one of these if you own an RH450 - such a great piece of kit!
6. I've said this before but worth re-iterating anyway - I got to play this briefly a while ago and really liked it I don't remember it being particularly heavy & I'm usually pretty fussy about weight.
7. Market for these has definitely dipped in the past year, I reckon original condition ones are trading at around £200 - £300 down now & anything with aftermarket mods is not only lower in value but getting harder to sell too. I reckon the guys above have got the pricing about right - I have seen the odd one creeping down to £1,100 and if it's a real '70's heavy monster than that'll really hurt value as well
8. I've seen Lee live a few times - one of those guys who always looks like he's having a great time Superb beard as well
9.
I love organised soundguys! C
This guy was an absolute star - I've never seen anyone as organised as him at a gig. The speed with which he, and his team if required, would break down a large PA was nothing short of breathtaking. We had a very big rig for Hawkwind once and after the gig was finished the band & road crew disappeared of to the dressing room to 'refresh' themselves. By the time they came out (which wasn't really that long) we were wheeling the last of the cables boxes out the door, all speakers, amps etc had already been loaded into the van. The look on their faces was wonderful - you could see them all doing a double take trying to work out f they'd walked out of the wrong door to a different stage etc
10.
My speaker cables are consequently 0.5inches thick and day-glow orange, whilst I use (and really look after) old-school Fender grey instrument cables.
I used to do some sound engineering work for a lovely guy who runs a wet/dry hire PA business. Every single cable he owned was colour coded. All mic cables were black (so they would be as unobtrusive as possible on stage) All speaker cables were red (so people would think they might be 'live' or hot & not randomly unplug them) All interconnects were blue (not quite sure why, lol) This system was so simple yet worked brilliantly - easy to set up & super quick when breaking the PA down to make sure each cable went back in the right box. Conversely I helped run a friend's PA last week end he had about 5 different cable colours and randomly threw speaker, mic and patch cables into the same sports bag - it was a nightmare to find the right cable for each application (didn't help that he also seems to use just about every type of plug 7 socked combination imaginable!).
11.
Just turned it on again and there's a slight electrical crackle from the on/off switch at the rear and nothing else.
I think that crackle is very common - mine often does it & so did the only other one I've tried. Have you checked boring stuff like the fuse in the mains plug & the plug itself to make sure there isn't a loose wire somewhere?
12. Just checked mine and it's immaculate
13. Price now reduced to £675 for the head & foot switch - shipping estimated at £25 in the UK. I'll be heading up to Yorkshire this weekend so could drop it off somewhere on the way or leave it in Harrogate for collection if that helps
14.
Bang on. By placing the strap button lower, you get a perfect balance and the bass is held perpendicular to the players body. A much more, imo, comfortable position.
I know this might be a dumb question but if it works really well then why do most manufacturers put the strap button in line with the centre of the bridge? I had a quick look on Bernie's site and noticed that not every Spitfire has this design (but maybe some of the pics are older and all the new ones have it as standard).
15. Wow that's pretty, I've had a bit of a yearning for a Spitfire after Bernie's appearance at the London Bass Bash recently. The scratches don't show in the pics so they can't be that bad Do you know how much it weighs? Also, and I've only just noticed this with Spitfires, the rear strap button seems to be very low on the body compared to conventional position. I'm assuming this is designed to help the balance & the way it hangs on a strap?
16. As per note above: The cab is now sold and residing in the East of England already. The RH450 is still for sale along with the foot controller
17.
Would you be interested in an offer for just the cab? I'm looking for a light weight 2x12 cabinet and this looks perfect mate! I'd love the whole rig but couldn't possibly afford it
Sorry - I did have a price for the cab alone and someone offered cash & collection so it's sold now
18. And now sold pending usual stuff - had lots of potential PX offers and every one was interesting but someone came in with cash which will give me more flexibility to choose what to go for next.
19.
Good luck with what sounds like an amazing deal Molan Financing something else perchance ? something very pretty ? T
I have my eyes on a few things but nothing in particular really. I have a feeling a bit of a general 'purge' is coming soon - too much stuff that just doesn't get used enough
20. This looks quite interesting Gareth - are you after a straight trade:
21. Nice one - I really like the Half Moon, haven't been for ages though Hope it goes well
22. OK - so I have no idea why all the pics have come up rotated! They look perfect on my screen at home - must be an iPhone thang. . . Hopefully you get the basic idea that it's in very good nick
23. Picked this up recently in a PX deal as part of my, seemingly endless, quest for 'that' sound, lol. It's a fantastic little combo with way more depth than anything I've played before in this size of cabinet. Totally belies its size & I'm sure that the downward facing 8" bass radiator has a lot to do with this. This is the 4Ohm version and it's already chucking out enough volume for most gigs but you can add a 2nd 4Ohm cab if required for even more punch Very flexible EQ giving a really wide range of sounds. Easy one handed lift & it comes with a decent quality fitted cover so it's a real in/out job for gigs or rehearsals. It's in excellent condition & even still has its original tag on (which bears the original retail price of £1,349!). I can ship this if required but would prefer to meet up if possible. Happy to travel within a one hour radius (which would include up to Central London). Any questions - let me know
24.
Surely the point of digital desks is to do away with all the excessive outboard? Never used a O1V live though, are they any good for live stuff or are they studio desks really? I get on pretty well with the LS9 and M7CL, particularly for monitor work. Digital desks are great in some situations but that just sounds totally ridiculous.
Totally agree the desk has loads of assignable effects so why have a huge rack of outboard kit! It seemed pretty flexible but the nature of digital with pads having multi functions isn't anywhere near as fast for fixing things on the fly. Personally I'd go analogue every time for genuine usable flexibility.
