1.
this looks a lot for your money.. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=86994 Make sure you have help to move it and if you do the more modular Warwick set-up covers quite a lot of basses...
That is a really nice set up for the money! The thing I really like about this is the fact that the 'modular' set up will allow you to just use one or other cab on its own for smaller gigs and then bring them both in for larger ones. Personally I'm a big fan of the 1x15 + 2x10 combination. Those Warwick cabs look really cool on stage as well Mat bought a cab from me recently - absolutely top guy, knows his stuff and a really good player. Straight as they come as well - definitely worth a chat with him and he'll tell you the good & bad points about the Warwick kit.
2. Simple thought from me is that you should have a good look around here on BC for a quality used rig. GK stuff holds value reasonably well, Peavey probably less so. I had a very quick look and found a huge GK rig up for sale with a 700RB head plus a pair of GK cabs for only £500! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...700rb&st=20 I'm sure there's other stuff around as well Personally I would never recommend a gig of any decent size without a DI for the bass (especially outdoors) but obviously that's going to depend on your PA and live sound person.
3. Apologies if this is a bit basic but there's some ok little vids here on intonation setting
4. I was hunting around for buckeye burl basses & came across this stunning piece of workmanship form Fodera:
5.
Great colour, and the J pickups on a P body look very good. Classic, but with a nice edge.
I must admit that I'm really excited about this one!
6. I had a black Lakland DJ for a while with a red tort guard & I really liked the look. Something like this:
7. Nice one Rich. I have to say this is the first Fender I've had any serious interest in for some time. I'd love to see that CAR finish in the flesh
8. Do you know which spec this is? I know Jimmy has Basic / Standard / Classic / Classic Supreme. Looks a lot like the Standard he uses on his site for display purposes
9.
Maybe you can tell me what bass i will have 4 basses down the line from you, save me some time!
Next logical upgrade from the '75 J RI is probably my Shuker J with custom options: I'll keep you posted on it, lol
10.
Nice looking bass - love the green. I did look at this one closely myself when I saw it up for sale. Bet it will be a cracker. Neil.
So it's finally on its way! Slight payment glitch as someone in the US owed me money & agreed to pay the seller direct for me & then promptly went on tour & forgot! Should be here in a week or so There's some really nice shots of it being played by the current owner here: http://www.lifechurch.tv/player-only/file/...words_640x360_8
11. Well, it's on the Bay and has a zillion watchers but no bids yet. A few offers from overseas but Id much rather it stayed in good old blighty
12.
Hey Barrie, Philly now owns your lovely Fender Jazz that I bought from you. Is there any bass that you have not owned on here? :)
There are a few, lol. And quite a lot of them still inspiring much GAS. . .
13. Looks really nice - I've been really researching these recently and read some extremely good reviews of them from actual owners (as opposed to people who've spent 10 minutes playing in a busy shop). Nice to have the old Pope pre-amp in it as well. Some reviews suggested there was a slight issue when they stopped using these but I think the very latest ones have very good pre amps in them as well now Unfortuantely I'm a 4 string guy these days
14. I think this might have been mine for a while - very nice bass. Replaced it with an NYC Sadowsky which cost over a grand more but wasn't proportionally better!
15. Wow this one is a beauty Gwil For anyone who doesn't know Gwil I have to say he's a top bloke who really knows his basses - everything he has is absolutely top drawer
16. Lovely bass and beautifully finished
17.
any pics of the rash?
Is it just me or does anyone else find this request a little disturbing
18. I really miss my Spectors If I hadn't gone back to 4's then I'd definitely have kept at least one NS5XL in the toy cupboard I found a new 4 string one of these water cured beuaties up for sale recently and was seriously tempted!

20. Maceo & the Macks - love the sax on this
21. Kubicki with the 6 way switching option Position 1 = off - saves needing a mute on the amp 2 = something close to an active Jazz with decent onboard tonal options as well 3 = a bit like the above but with some lower end bass boost & mid scoop, ok for a solo or when you need a bit more oomph 4 = passive Jazzy sounds 5 = passive mid cut 6 = passive treble cut for a decent P sound Gives you enough range to cover a lot of cover band needs without a pedalboard or lots of amp fiddling It's also light, small bodied and virtually no headstock for those tight spaces on cramped stage, lol
22. Free listing weekend on EBay is looming. . .
23.
Cor blimey guv. not interested in a part exhange with the pedulla fretless?
I'm afraid I've reverted to 4 strings only these days looks lovely though
24.
If Steve Rowse has serviced this you can be sure it's 100% spot-on. He is a total legend. Bump for fabulous amp!
Couldn't agree more - his house should be registered as a valve amp heritage site He also said he was happy to quote him as a reference on any future sale - where have you ever heard that before!
25. Absolutely great cab, only selling as I've bought a new TC Electronics head and am a bit of a 'completist' so bought a pair of TC cabs to go with it! This uses Bergantino's exclusive new Neodymium 12" speakers with very full, yet tight, low end and loads of bass extension. Can easily handle a lot of gig situations on its own given the great depth of tone it has. Incredibly light weight, easy one handed lift Pairs really well with either another Berg 12 or their 2x10 for larger gigs where more volume is required. Official specs are: Model AE112 specifications: 1 x 12" Custom Neodymium driver with 7 oz magnet high intelligibility 1" tweeter custom phase - coherent crossover with tweeter level control power handling - 300 watts rms frequency response: 40hz - 18khz sensitivity: 100db @ 1 Watt/1 meter 2 x 1/4" and 2 x neutrik connectors impedance: 8 ohms dimensions: 15 3/4"H x 18-1/2"W x 15"D 40cm x 47cm x 38cm weight: 31lbs/14 Kgs This is in superb condition & looks like it just left the shop - partially due to the official Bergantio padded cover that comes with it (these are £60 each new!) New price on one of these is £549 + £60 for the cover = £609. Note - Some of the pics below show 2 cabs but one of these has already gone, they really are indistinguishable from each other so I can't be sure which is which in these pics! Should be ok to ship this as it's so light - I'd guess about £25 depending on location - or happy to meet up somewhere within an hour or so of South Oxfordshire -
