1. Would definitely be amped up Just spotted this: http://www.bassnw.com/Used%20Basses/ribbec...ectric_bass.htm Looks rather nice but $4,500 used. . Seen some nice Rick Turners which along the Godin kind of style which would probably suit me. Will look out for some Godins too
2. So I may have an 'unplugged' gig and my suggestion of just playing an electric 'quietly' didn't go down very well, lol. I'm fairly picky these days and could probably afford a good quality acoustic but I really have no idea what to look for! My ideal would be something that's actually as close as an electric to play really but still has a good 'woody' acoustic sound & vibe. Any suggestions people. . .
3. Hi Boom, I have to ask the usual question about how much it weighs? I've seen Celinders varying from between 11lbs down to just under 9lbs so there's quite a big variation
4. An amp I have sitting at home has all the controls more or less in the same position day in day out & I've noticed a couple of pots getting a little scratchy if I do actually bother to move them. Is there any simple way to clean these up so that they are once again crackle free?
5.
It's 34" scale.
In case anyone is concerned about the scale then you really shouldn't be - the B sounds fantastic on these & the 34" makes it an easier stretch for those that find 35" more of a problem.
6.
Hi , around 4,5 Kg !! Not a light bass but very well balanced Bump !!
A shade under 10lbs for those imperial measurement people out there Looks really nice Dario!
7. I'd never be able to use something like this but it's an amazing array of kit - nice one JS
8. Price reduced to £500 without a case or shipping. Brand new hard case (or one of those nice soft/hard cases) would add about £40 Shipping around £25.
9. Bought this a few months back to use for some recording stuff but my amp has a great option for DI recording so I've hardly used it. It was used when I got it but looks like new really. Great little piece of kit with zillions of sound shaping options - loads of details HERE Comes with original box & power supply. These seem to be going for about £150 with shipping around £15 so that seems a decent starting point Happy to meet up somewhere within an hour or so of Henley or could probably get it up to central London to save on postage if that helps at all. I don't have any pics (can take some if required) but here's a stock image:
10. I played a gig last night at a pub with an 'interesting' layout. Overall floor space is Ok but the band area is very restricted. Everyone in our, 7 piece, band agreed to try and get away with the bare minimum of kit and I thought I'd take a risk & use my baby rehearsal Shuttle 3.0 with the 1x10 cab. Bit of a risk as there was no option to got hrough the vocal only PA but I was worried my Berg's would just take up too much space. I took along a Quick-Lock guitar stool which just happens to be the perfect height/width/depth to jack the Shuttle up to above waist level without having too large a stage footprint. With the speaker firing direct at the back of my rib cage I could hear myself perfectly and my 'ears' out in the audience said the bass was perfecgtly clear in the mix with nice depth of tone. I had it set relatively flat to begin with and just hit the bass boost button part way through the evening as I could feel the band slowly getting louder as things warmed up & people were out front dancing & stuff. I didn't particularly watch my volume settings as I was easily loud enough. When we finished the set and the house lights went up I realised the master gain was set at about 11:00 so there was a fair bit of headroom to spare! It's not exactly a classic rock or hi-fi tone but I'm amazed at just how well this tiny little thing performs - even up against a live drummer & in a 7 piece band
11.
The cutaway on the green one looks to start higher up the fretboard presumably to allow better access to the dusty end? I am having trouble keeping up with you Barrie Steve
I have trouble keeping up with myself! Close to stopping now though
12. Anyone else noticed that the green one looks slightly more angular than the burgundy mist one? At first I thought it was just the body & guard colours but I have a sneaking suspicion that one or other of the images is slightly out of proportion?
13.
Now that is some provenance! Nice colour too
More pics here at the current owner's site (in the for sale section) I'm not sure how much Willie Weeks actually played it as I haven't ben able to find any pics of him with it - definitely confirmed as the initial owner of the bass by Jimmy C though
14.
I'll 'fess up that this is heading my way soon:
So this bass never quite made it over to me (long story) however, by a series of coincidences it looks like the nice guy who bought it instead is now going to sell me this one: Previously owned by Willie Weeks & fresh back from a world tour with Eric Clapton
15.
if the bloody international money exchange people get the funds transferred sometime this century - then this should be heading my way pretty soon as well:
Deal finally closed - nice trans blue baby heading my way next week
16.
Cheers! That's an Auralex Gramma Pad - the best thing I've ever bought apart from my amp, cabs and basses...
I have one of these as well. Works really well, especially on suspended wooden floors (like a stage). Really useful at home for practice as it stops some of the lower frequencies reverberating arounf the house through the floor
17.
Sounds good! I am the same...I find my tone goals are mellowing.
What started it for me was the lovely pre-amp in my old Alleva C which had a passive tone roll off alongside the active circuit (like a Sadowsky VTC I guess). I 'discovered' how nice it was to gently roll off the top end without losing the really nice core tone.
18. Bit of a long shot but if anyone is tempted by this and lives near Wolverhampton or Manchester then I'm heading up that way this weekend & could deliver for free Heading up the M40 past Birmingham today & then on to Wolverhampton. Up to Manchester on Sunday until Tuesday AM & staying in Salford area.

20. You know I really, really want to like BGM but I find it amazing that almost every single month I spot a glaring error. If I let so many copy mistakes go out in my job I would be bounced out the door very quickly. Interesting to see that Euphonic amps now have a 12 band graphic, a dual on-board compressor and valve drive option plus pre-shapes that can all be controlled by a footswitch. I bet Trace Elliot are checking their design patents already. . .
21.
Stunning looking bass. I remember seeing this when Marty had it for sale. Can you tell me the weight of this bass?
My digital bathroom scales are saying 7.8lbs. Can't vouch for this being 100% accurate but it'll be pretty close - it's definitely very lightweight
22. I've pulled the trigger on one of these as well - should arrive in time for a gig next week Loving the tone on the rehearsal too - I never use flats and have always favoured a very bright tone but I'm definitely mellowing these days. Thinks to self - you have two sets of flats stored away, get them back out & try them on something

1970 Ampeg SVT

Excellent! I have an early SVTII (non-pro) that's hardly ever been used & certainly never gigged. It's in for some valve testing as it has a small intermittent fault but should be home soon
24. Here's mine: and - if the bloody international money exchange people get the funds transferred sometime this century - then this should be heading my way pretty soon as well:
