1.
It has arrived! Fender in a display of unusual efficiency have shipped me one a month early. Used it for a gig this afternoon, it's amazing, so loud and punchy yet so small. I have been running it through a golight jnr. 2x10 and I'm thoroughly impressed with the low end the set up produces. I should have some comparisons and recordings up later next week.
How does it compare to your previous SWR rig in terms of sound? I'm intrtrigued to see if it's possible to get that classic SWR SM400 sound from one of these, lol.
  2. I've never understood why people don't simply put their location in their 'from' profile? Do they think someone will come to their local town / city, set up a noise meter to track down the location of any bass playing & then steal their gear?
  3. Nice - I've never seen one of these in white before.
  4. Just out of interest, do you know how much this weighs?
  5. I had one of these for a few years. Great little combo but weighs a ton. Mine had castors fitted but they weren't factory fit jobs.
lol, pansy Really enjoying the Siggery, think i'm deffinitly going to get a preamp put back into it to give it some more umph, but going to see how it sounds through the EBS microbass i'm getting next week first!! Jake
I am riding my BMW through the rain & cold though, lol - it reached -2.5 on the way home lst night. I bought a Siggery 4 direct from Marty Siggery. It's also passive but has single coils instead of the humbuckers in the 5.
Bit of an odd one this but i swapped my mountain bike for Barries Siggery V before the new year. As ever with Barrie, everything goes as smooth as butter How are you finding the bike btw??
The bike is great! have only used it a couple of times and need to get my seat height stuff sorted. I'm waiting for weather to get a bit warmer, lol. How is the Siggery?
Just bought Barries' Trace and QSC. Barrie is an absolute pleasure to deal with and seriously efficient when it comes to shipping stuff! Thanks Barrie! Grahame
It was a pleasure Especially to receive the "Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it!" message after it arrived
  9. Thanks for that - i did have a quick look for Behringer as I thought they might have something & was susprised that the dealer I checked wasn't showing any 1U amps.
  10.
Why not use the power amp section of a Markbass F1? 1U, almost 1/2 rack width and quite shallow.
And another good shout, lol. 10" deep & only 4.6 lbs
  11.
the problem with a lot of the 1 unit amps that I've seen is that what they lose in on dimension they gain in another. i.e. my preamp is about 10inch deep (front to back). a lot of the 1u poweramps are ~18in deep, so it won't fit into the more compact rack cases. Overall, I think i'd prefer 2units and 10in deep ( plus the light weight).
Good point - the Powersoft amps are indeed just under 18" deep!
  12. Just answering my own question here, lol. The Powersoft amps look pretty impressive? One like this sold for £365 just before Xmas on Ebay Powersoft Digam D1502 High quality Lightweight Tour Grade Pro-Audio Amplifier 2 x 400w into 4 Ohms
  13. Anyone got any recommendations for a simple class D power amp that's very light weight? I'm thinking of something that's max of 1U in height and somewhere around the 400w to 600w into 4 ohms mono (or around 250w a side into 8 ohms). Ideally I'd like one without a fan as well as I'd be using it in my study & I've got used to not having a noisy fan whirring away! I really know nothing about dedicated power amps but I'd be looking for something that's available used as I'm too mean to pay new dealer prices, lol.
  14. I didn't make it in the end. Got a bit hacked off with the venue last week at the Haggis Horns (another bunch of non-muso looking guys) when it was really rammed & i'm out all of this coming weekend as well so needed some time at home. I'm getting too old for gigs on 3 consecutive weekends, lol.
37 cm of extremely well balanced body in the widest part, a little less than a Gibson EB-2 or a Gretsh hollowbody.
That's interesting, it looks really wide in the pics but 37cm is only about 2cm more that a standard Fender J shape. I must admit that I've always thought these bodies might not balance that well but I guess the overall size plus the 32" scale mean the proportions work pretty well

    SOLD

Wow - just downloaded the 68MB folder of images. This is a seriously nice looking bass. Looks surprisingly large bodied - How wide is it across the widest part of the body?
  17. Damn, just sold my Trace valve pre & a Marcus appears! I've had minor GAS for one of these since they were launched. Long time SWR fan & the pale blue colour just kills me Does it come with the footswitch?
  18.
It's on its way! Expect recordings and a review for all you lovely people end of Feb/early March. I'm getting the Headlite with a Golight 2x10 and Golight 1x15.
Excellent, looking forward to hearing how this sounds
  19. Sorry guys - someone came in with an offer for both items and has already paid - my all time record I think!
  20. This is actually a rather nice Alembic but it's been advertised previously at the same price and not had a single bid on it. The seller's latest tactic is to use the following as his complete description: "AMEMBIC BASS FOR SALE 5STRING, IN AS NEW CONDITION, THIS IS THE LAST TIME I ADVERTISE"
  21.
I know that one and have used the trace Gp11 with the nail in the board as a volume control limiter. Also had fun with the vocal feedback too. T
They had a great Acoustic bass amp in there for a while with a big folded horn cab from what I remember. I think the two guys that ran it were John & 'Chops'? Always made me smile
  22.
Jesus that area brings back memories.
My old neck of the woods too (although i guess on the borders). Lived in High Barnet for a while then East Barnet. There's a rehearsal space right on top of New Southgate Station if you know it?
  23. If you want a school than I can ask my daughter what's available in her area - she's a teacher in Barnet at a nice little school. Good location, just off the North Circ & walking distance from Arnos Grove tube or New Southgate overground.
  24. THESE ARE NOW SOLD! Picked these up in a trade last year but really haven't used them much as I have too many other amps already! The Trace pre has a lovely smooth tone from the pair of valves and the nice interactive passive eq circuit. I've heard that lots of people use these in a studio for recording as the core sound is so nice without any nasty hiss or buzz from the valves. Nice review from Harmony Central : http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...ype+Preamp/10/1 "As a gearhead, I've played through just about every bass amp head, cab, and preamp made in the last 10 years, and many made far earlier than that. The V-type is without a doubt, the closest thing to a compromise I've ever come to between all tube, warm vintage tone, and modern portability. Both live and in the studio, the V-type is the most articulate, natural sounding preamp I have ever used. It's somewhere in between the Aguilar DB680 and the Millenia TD-1 sound wise, but very similar to the Alembic F-1X in design. As a lightweight alternative to the legendary Trace V4, V6, or V8, it's pure, simple, British amp design brilliance." There are some sound clips here : http://www.basstasters.com/preamps/Trace_Elliot_V-Type.html The Sadowsky Vintage 5 without any eq sounds pretty representative to my ears. Really is a lovely piece of kit and deserves to be used regularly The QSC is just a nice simple 2u power amp with lots of typical flexible QSC options and can be used in either stereo of bridged mono modes and runs down to 2 ohms in stero. Power options are: 2 x 200W into 8 ohms 2 x 300W into 4 ohms 2 x 430W into 2 ohms 1 x 600W into 8 ohms 1 x 830W into 4 ohms More technical guff from QSC here: http://www.qscaudio.com/products/amps/rmx/rmx.htm Both items are in fantastic condition, as the pictures hopefully show, and come in a nice shiny rack case. Ideally I'd like to sell everything as a single lot but if there's interest in both items individually then I'll be happy to split them
  25. I have to admit that I'm really GASsing for an NS4 at the moment but I'd have to sell my NS5XL first
