1. Not me - although I was the one that got him to check the date on the neck!
2.
As I'm not fond of the scratchplate on the normal SR5, I think these are an improvement.
Agree 100% to that. The standard Ray 5 plate makes it not look like a Ray to me - the round scratchplate is all part of the Ray look to me, lol.
3. I keep coming back to look at this - do I need my head examined Found these pics to add to the collection:
4. I can't recommend these highly enough if you want narrower string spacing on a 5'er: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=spector This looks a particularly nice model and a very good price Promise I'm not on commission, lol.
5. Anyone else here told him via EBay that they don't think it's genuine? I did so it would only take 2 other people to make his claim of "two" a little suspect. . .
6. WEIGHT 8.05 lbs. (3.65 kg) Roger S is making some seriously light weight basses these days. Almost all the Will Lee series are about 8 lbs and some even fall as low as 7.5 lbs!
7.
This guy was looking for a White Streamer last month. A Spector might be close enough... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=white+thumb
Or even an improvement
8. Getting back into bikes is good - I sold my Sei Original 5 string headless about 6-7 years ago in order to put a deposit down on a custom bike. I then added a couple more bikes and when I eventually cut back to 2 bikes I'd 'saved' enough money from the final sale to lash out on a very expensive bass again, lol. Bikes & basses, ya can't beat 'em! Spectors are great basses as well. Fantastic playability and really comfortable. This one looks really funky too
9. More details here: http://www.sadowsky.com/stock/view/5403.html Nice big pic here as well: Personally I really like the 'idea' of the Will Lee models but I haven't been able to try one out. Based on a recent used price for one I saw in the USA (which sold pretty quickly) then £2,200 is pretty much bang on the money for one of these in the UK
10. I've been thinking about why I've never really rated AC much & decided that he just comes across as being really dull. . .
11. I think USA 'street' price is supposed to be about $700 for the head & $600 for the power amp (relative pricing seems odd so maybe the amp will come in less than that). Not sure if it's dual voltage or not but, if so, then it would be a nice 'toy' to bring home from a US trip.
12. He does sound genuine but you can never tell. Interesting spelling. . .
13. I roadied for U2 in '79 (I think - may have been '80) - before Boy was released anyway, about the time of 11 o'Clock Tick Tock. They played 4 consecutive weeks at the Marquee and I was invited along from 2nd week onwards to help with some stuff (mostly some lumping of kit and helping Edge set up some guitar stuff). My bass playing at the time was frighteningly rudimentary (as it still is now, lol) but even then I remember thinking that I could have played most of Adam Clayton's stuff. Bono & Edge were brilliant back then though. Each week the Marquee got busier & by the last gig it was rammed to the rafters because word had got out how good they were. As others have said though - I still work in an office and AC's had a rather nice life being mates to a couple of talented rock Gods. . .
14. Damn you McGibney - you've got me thinking now. . .
15. I was interested in just the neck (which looks pre EB to me) so I've asked for details from reverse of headstock. Apparently the bass is in a lock-up that's inaccessible due to snow. If I hear more I'll post details. . .
16. I once got a free set of strings signed by Bruce Foxton as part of a Rotosound promo tour. I always thought it was a bit oddd to be signing a packet of strings but they were free so what did I care Most of the people queuing up were 'just' Jam fans and I was the first bass player of the day to turn up. Bruce was super chatty and started talking about differences between his old Ricky and a P bass for live work etc. Eventually the PR guy managing the event moved me on so Bruce could get signing again, lol.
17. I read about this in Bass Player recently and wondered when SWR would start marketing it. I used to love my old SM400 - wonder if this can capture the sound in a tiny package? Has a valve in the pre & a class D power amp. They are also bringing out a matching power amp so you can get 800w in a single rack space if required (there's also a gig bag that will take both the head & amp together). :
18.
Hello from Horsell..and welcome to the forum.
I'm liking the new avatar Ady
19.
I have a 75RI and its the bestest, easiest to play Jazz I have ever played. It's awsome.
I agree on the '75RI's. This particular one was mine for a while and it's lovely to play. In fact I have something similar heading my way quite soon. . .

21.
Met Bruce and Rick at Water Rats one Saturday afternoon
Looks like a photoshop special to me Nick
22. This is sold now
23.
Beautiful example of a great bass - I've not owned one of these (yet .. give it time!) but those I've tried have been just great. A friend of mine in the States has a handful of these (along with a number of unique Marleaux, Ritter and other 50+ instruments) - some of the first built by Michael T .... he tells me (repeatedly!) that they're not going anywhere !!....
I do think this is a particularly nice MTD with more 'depth' than some I've heard. I'm going to put this on 'hold' for a week as I have someone who's quite keen and is coming over for a second try-out next Friday And he's taken it home with him
24. I would say a Pedulla is going to be worth a fair bit more than your Ibby but the, 'very '80's, wood finish isn't doing a lot for me
25. And a big hi from Henley - not all that far from you. I was born in the lovely Woking General Hospital just over 50 years ago Always liked those baby split pickups on the Mustangs!
