1.
105 views - no interest - hmm
I think Zon's are a bit 'marmite' at times - some people love 'em and others really don't. I have a headless VB4 and really like it
2. I've just picked up Alan's lovely Celinder J Update 4 in trans red and thought I'd try and find some more info about Celinders in general. I'm sure there are some people here who know their stuff on Celinders (CK - are you my man, lol) and i can't get anything from Celinder.com as it's been down for ages. So questions are: 1) What are the differences between the J Updates and a Vintage? The Gallery are listing the Daphne blue one as Vintage but it looks very similar to my Update! N.B. Is this the same ex Me'Shell bass mentioned in the Celinder factory tour? 2) Do most Celinders have their own brand pickups fitted? Mine has these but I have heard that some have Barts so maybe there are lots of pickup options available? 3) Mine has a 2 band active tone circuit - I'd like to know a a bit more about this? Bass has a centre detent but treble rolls freely - is this standard? Are there internal adjustments (I haven't looked yet, lol). How dooes the pre work - the tone controls don't feel like they work in a 'conventional' manner? 4) I've seen some Celinders with an additional flick switch - what does this do? Again, I spotted this on the Me'Shell bass. Ok - that's about it for now, more stuff may come to me as I play the bass more! Really enjoying it by the way
3. I've owned both a PS600 and a UL502 - great amps and I couldn't hear anything between the sound on them either
4. Great story - can't wait to read the next instalment
5. I had a Streamer that came supplied with gold Optima gold strings to match the all gold hardware. It looked pretty cool - in a very flash sort of way Unfortunately I'm mildly allergic to gold & the strings bought me out in blisters!
6.
Oooh
That sonic blue Jazz sets it off perfectly as well
7.
Do it Kev Eggles are superb guitars.
Indeed they are - this is an Eggle LA Pro in a beautiful flame maple top, birdseye maple neck, locking Sperzels, Seymour Duncans (APSII at neck & middle I think & a Jeff Beck mini humbucker at the bridge). Even still has it's original Eggle branded green Hiscox case, lol.
8. Sure you don't want that Eggle Kev? Since we last 'spoke' it's been fully serviced, cleaned and prefessionally set up with a new set of strings
9. I think it's a Tune Space Bass but I could be wrong! She usually plays a sunburst Fender Jazz: Lady Tee is coming to the Indigo 2 on Jan 30th! I was there in 1990 - the Ivory tour: Sound's a bit funny on this but she looks great! Pax Stereo channel has almost a full rehearsal for the current tour: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=paxstereo#g/search
10.
+1 on Pete - plus - and this isn't meant to sound bad but he is a businessman, if he can earn a little out of it he would put on a great event, good band and PA and he has two other good South East venues, Chislehurst - just off A20/M25 and Wingspan Club at Gatwick - off A23 and great rail service. I'd happily sound him out if and when needed. Mike
I was initially thinking more of just getting contact details from some of his venues rather than asking him to help organise. However, if there are to be live bands then he'd be a great contact.
11. Now sold - thanks for all the interest
12. Offer accepted on this lovely piece of Mr Shuker's work so it'll be heading out soon
13. Betraying my disco roots here: I love this one just for the dancing, lol and the lovely Phyllis Hyman (RIP) let me take you to Xanadu. . . Not the best sound on this but so excited about seeing Teena (whose put on a bit of weight, lol) again soon yeah, c'mon and give it to me baby or if you feel the need to Boogie Oogie
14. There are two footy clubs I know of that have regular band nights so should be Ok as far as noise is concerned. Both have parking as well. Barnet & Sutton are both promoted by Pete Feenstra for live music - http://www.feenstra.co.uk/ Pete is a lovely guy and a huge supporter of live music so I reckon he'd help if required
15.
Doh! Me thick. Looks very nice indeed. I don't have that kind of spare cash for another bass right now but good luck with the sale.
My fault - should have said it was £1,000 in the main body text somewhere
16.
oh cool so you know the one i mean,do you think it sounds like some old funk tune? I wish i could find out.
Yeah definitely - I have the episode on a download of season 3
17. I've Shazammed it & they couldn't identify the song. Nice bass line tho
18. Not getting much interest on this baby If anyone is put off by a 34" scale 5 stringer then you really don't need to worry about the B on this bass. It sounds really nice, well focussed and not remotely 'floppy'
19. Only just spotted this - loving the paint job but I can understand the 'marmite' comment, lol.
20.
Beautiful top on the MTD.
The matching headstock and trussrod cover are extra cost options but really finish it off nicely
21.
Looks a peach of a bass. How much you selling for out of interest?
£1,000 - it's in the title of the listing but I forgot to put it in the text anywhere!
22.
Glad to hear it! That was an amazing bass... as is this one! Good luck with the mass clear-out..
In fact the Shuker i also have up for sale came my way in the PX deal
23. The world may not 'need' any more J shaped basses but it does seem that the world does actually want a J shaped bass. lol. As an example of this I put three really nice basses up for sale last night: MTD 535 in spalted maple Shuker Elite custom bolt-on 5 with really lovely woods & finish Overwater J 5 in aged white I've had some interest in all three but the overwhelming favourite has been the Overwater J for which I've already had several serious offers. Now it could be because the OW is the lowest priced of the three at £1,000 but I'm guessing that it's simply because it's a J bass and everyone likes a J, lol. Here's a Coda in black:
24.
Have to say, I've always liked John Shukers' basses, but even then this is gorgeous..hope you get a swift sale and sorry you have to part with such a nice bass.... makes me think.....what are the rest of them like????
MTD 535 in spalted maple Overwater Jazz 5 in aged white Although this Shuker sits somewhere in the middle of these two in value I'd say it's easily as well made as the MTD and the quality of woods & finish is certainly as good
25. I used to have one of these, very nice basses New forum rules request that you add a price unless you're only looking to trade?
