weekrne bumper
Not sure I'm understanding you here Trev - first time I read this it seemed like you were saying 'weak at the knees' bumper - I'm assuming this is the state some poor female will be in at some point this evening. . .
2. Forgot to say - the pics reminded me a bit of No Doubt's latest promo photos:
3.
I messaged the seller, his reserve is £1200 and he's not willing to split & sell the Jazz separately. Anyroad up, we'll see what happens... J.
I don't want to sound overly negative about someone who's obviously been here on BC but I ahve a sneaking suspicion that this auction isn't going to get completed at that price
4.
Was 4-1 good enough?
Good enough for me (and I'm a Gooner!). Just seeing Ferguson's face after the final whistle will keep me happy for the rest of the day Shame about the band stuff but maybe use it as inspiration to do something else that's more to your liking. Always one of the problems of playing with the same people for a long time is that there's always going to be some who don't want to change or learn new stuff.
5.
Look familiar? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=31614 Wonder why he refuses to split? He could've sold them all & probably made a lot more 6 months ago. Jon.
You've got a good memory Jon Definitely worth more individually. I bought a pair of instruments at an auction once for about £60 the pair. They were listed with a knackered Aria bass as the first instrument. it really wasn't worth much more than £60 (I think I sold it to a mate for his son as a learner instrument for £50). However the other was a real oddball rarity Guyatone guitar that I got £150 for! It helped that I knew the Guyatone was worth a bit but if the original seller had simply sold them seperately I reckon he'd have got at least £60 each.

This will almost certainly mean they will sell for less than they are worth individually so could be a bargain. I had an original SB1000 years ago & really liked it. The stuff up for sale (from the listing) is: Aria pro 2 SB1000 Bass 1980 with the "bat ears" Headstock It is in truly Immaculate condition for its age.original Hard Case Included. Aria 1540 Jazz bass sunburst finish 1977, passive, original Hard Case Included. Aria pro 2 Laser electric classic twin active pickups in paduk red colour 1986 Includes Hard case. Aria Pro TSB 400 Short scale bass in Black 1982, with twin cream pickups it is passive and is In fair condition for its age it has few marks from giging but nothing serious no wood showing. The Bass ampflifier is an Ashdown Electric Blue 180 Combo. The Fx unit is A Behringer Bass V-Amp and Footpedal and bag.
7. I know I've said this a few times recently but this really is a great bass at a great price - especially with the Nordstrands & Glock pre
8. So I've sold my main amp & won't get a new one for a week or so & was wondering what to use at home for the time being. I then had the brainwave of feeding my Sadowsky outboard pre straight into my old EBS power amp power amp. Sounds great! It's one of the old models & if you whack the bass & treble boost up full it really makes a lot of basses actually sound like a Sadowsky as well
9.
Check these out..New Direction Live..turn up the bass when listening, awsome slapping...i would love to be there WOW!!! after 3.00 it looks from the headstock, hes playing a Sadowsky..The drumming from 4.00 onwards is fantastic... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA2lwHQXYKo Perri, a hard to get album with Nathan East on bass..They used to be on backing duties for Anita Baker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qod4PuUmhOc And for me the master on bass..Dale Black...you have to see/hear the jam he gets going with the drummer..i love his chordal work at 8.40..Incredible...I think this guy is as good in the groove if not better than Wooten, Gouche,....IMHO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ThwuJVcyoA
I saw Perri with Anita Baker when they got to play the support slot before Anita came on. It was a while ago (mid/late '80s) but I think it may have been Nathan East on bass for the evening. Great live vocals from what I remember. I had an album on cassette but it's long been chewed up in a car stereo, lol. I love that New Direction vid, I'd love to see something like this live.
10. Watched the Bernard Sumner interview on Sky Arts & I'd really forgotten just how much I used to like New Order during their 'glossy' synth funk pop era. My favourite has to be the full version of Perfect Kiss with Hooky riffing away with that great tone that cuts through all the sheen of the synth production I especially like how they break it all down in the middle & then start bringing everything back in again
11.
cant find Light House?
Download Spotify & they have 2 New Direction albums available for streaming in decent quality. It's totally legal &, even more exciting, totally free! http://www.spotify.com/en/
12. I liked the second one best - you know, the one without any of the band in it, allowed me to just stare at the Aggie Spot the old bloke who hasn't concentrated on the singer's appendages
13. Do you still need this? I can scan it & email if you want? Zap me a PM with your mail address
14.
Molan i love the Latin style tune they do called 'Jump get Excited' Amazing stuff....
I haven't come across the latin song yet but loving Lighthouse from the self titled album at the moment. I was in Miami last year & we went out for a drive on the Sunday morning & I found a great gospel station on the radio. It was a convertible with a decent quality stereo & we got a few funny looks in some of the darker parts of the outer suburbs as we were two very white people cruising around with gospel blaring out at full volume Put me in a great mood all day from what I remember. . .
15. That's just rubbish! How can they possibly claim that a vid of a guy playing bass over an original song is bloody infringement of copyright! As i mentioned on another thread, I have to deal with this lot from a business perspective & if they removed their collective heads from their arses then they'd find a way to 'monetize' YouTube a bit more efficiently & not have to bugger about like this - grrrrr
16. I have a pair of Overwaters now & really love playing them. Your Progress should be a great inspiration
17. You'll need some Taurus bass pedals to get the really authentic Rutherford bass sound Ricky for the faster melodic high end parts and the pedals for a great big hefty drone sitting underneath everything. A really core part of the early Genesis sound. Personally I think Rutherford was a fine bass player but kinda lost it when Steve Hacket left and he got the opportunity to play lead guitar (he'd always played a fair bit of 12 string).
18.
PS please check out a band called 'New Direction' (i cant stress enough, how good there album is)
Listening to New Direction right now on Spotify I love this sort of gospel with a big choir singing behind the lead vocal & the band are as a tight as a very tight thing indeed I may have to actually buy this rather than listening to the free streaming version! Sorry - forgot to say - great vid Josh, Gouche is just wonderful.
19. That's a good price from Absolute - I've always thought them a shade on the expensive side.
20. Keyboard player in my last band had one of these, he got a great Hammond sound out of it for funky soul stuff
21.
top gezzer you molan man, thanks again. what about your fender and some cash my way then?
No Fender in this house
22. Don't ask me why I'm acting as Trev's agent on this - must be becuase I find his for sale threads kinda fun Anyway - here's pics of the Warwick (hope I've got the right one Trev!)
23. I wasn't a huge fan of Smiths until I tried one at the Gallery recently & really liked it. One of those basses where everything just 'fell to hand' & it seemed really easy to play. A price would definitely be a good idea, even if it's only a ball park kinda thing
24. I like the look of Moon basses a lot. Seems like a great price too
25. What's the string spacing on these? Looks relaively wide so maybe a 19mm?
