Check these out..New Direction Live..turn up the bass when listening, awsome slapping...i would love to be there WOW!!! after 3.00 it looks from the headstock, hes playing a Sadowsky..The drumming from 4.00 onwards is fantastic... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA2lwHQXYKo Perri, a hard to get album with Nathan East on bass..They used to be on backing duties for Anita Baker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qod4PuUmhOc And for me the master on bass..Dale Black...you have to see/hear the jam he gets going with the drummer..i love his chordal work at 8.40..Incredible...I think this guy is as good in the groove if not better than Wooten, Gouche,....IMHO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ThwuJVcyoA
I saw Perri with Anita Baker when they got to play the support slot before Anita came on. It was a while ago (mid/late '80s) but I think it may have been Nathan East on bass for the evening. Great live vocals from what I remember. I had an album on cassette but it's long been chewed up in a car stereo, lol. I love that New Direction vid, I'd love to see something like this live.

Watched the Bernard Sumner interview on Sky Arts & I'd really forgotten just how much I used to like New Order during their 'glossy' synth funk pop era. My favourite has to be the full version of Perfect Kiss with Hooky riffing away with that great tone that cuts through all the sheen of the synth production I especially like how they break it all down in the middle & then start bringing everything back in again
cant find Light House?
Download Spotify & they have 2 New Direction albums available for streaming in decent quality. It's totally legal &, even more exciting, totally free! http://www.spotify.com/en/

I liked the second one best - you know, the one without any of the band in it, allowed me to just stare at the Aggie Spot the old bloke who hasn't concentrated on the singer's appendages

Do you still need this? I can scan it & email if you want? Zap me a PM with your mail address
Molan i love the Latin style tune they do called 'Jump get Excited' Amazing stuff....
I haven't come across the latin song yet but loving Lighthouse from the self titled album at the moment. I was in Miami last year & we went out for a drive on the Sunday morning & I found a great gospel station on the radio. It was a convertible with a decent quality stereo & we got a few funny looks in some of the darker parts of the outer suburbs as we were two very white people cruising around with gospel blaring out at full volume Put me in a great mood all day from what I remember. . .

That's just rubbish! How can they possibly claim that a vid of a guy playing bass over an original song is bloody infringement of copyright! As i mentioned on another thread, I have to deal with this lot from a business perspective & if they removed their collective heads from their arses then they'd find a way to 'monetize' YouTube a bit more efficiently & not have to bugger about like this - grrrrr

I've finally reached the non embarrassment point

I have a pair of Overwaters now & really love playing them. Your Progress should be a great inspiration -
You'll need some Taurus bass pedals to get the really authentic Rutherford bass sound Ricky for the faster melodic high end parts and the pedals for a great big hefty drone sitting underneath everything. A really core part of the early Genesis sound. Personally I think Rutherford was a fine bass player but kinda lost it when Steve Hacket left and he got the opportunity to play lead guitar (he'd always played a fair bit of 12 string).
PS please check out a band called 'New Direction' (i cant stress enough, how good there album is)
Listening to New Direction right now on Spotify I love this sort of gospel with a big choir singing behind the lead vocal & the band are as a tight as a very tight thing indeed I may have to actually buy this rather than listening to the free streaming version! Sorry - forgot to say - great vid Josh, Gouche is just wonderful.

That's a good price from Absolute - I've always thought them a shade on the expensive side.

I have a Spector USA NS5-XL which, as far as i knew, had the Tone Pump fitted. However I've just been reading the owner's manual and it says the controls do not ahve any center detents & mine certainly do. Does this mean I actually don't have the Tone Pump fitted? I haven't really played much with the controls but they sound like they are centred with both boost & cut as opposed to a more direct boost only circuit?
