1. I have a Spector USA NS5-XL which, as far as i knew, had the Tone Pump fitted. However I've just been reading the owner's manual and it says the controls do not ahve any center detents & mine certainly do. Does this mean I actually don't have the Tone Pump fitted? I haven't really played much with the controls but they sound like they are centred with both boost & cut as opposed to a more direct boost only circuit?

 5.
Thats just excessive Barrie, well.....damn you old man, you've given me filthy ideas!
I had a Trace 4x12 for a while - it was an absolute rock monster. An open E string could kill a grown man at 50 paces
Deconstructing the lines and harmony opened my ears to his playing. check out marvin gaye' Aint no mountain! thats some serious stretchin!!!!!
And then listen to him on the Diana Ross version to hear the development a few years later
 9. I can't believe I've never seen this before - what a fabulous bit of live footage of both Marvin & JJ (plus the rest of the band of course!).
 10. Slightly off topic but I was at a big showbiz party once entertaining a client and the band were really funky. The thing that suprised me was how many Edwin Starr songs they were playing - The person I was with mentioned this to one of the organisers & said the singer was very good but had a bit of an Edwin Starr fixation going on. The organiser casually pointed out that this was because the singer actually was Edwin Starr  The pair of us slid quietly away into a corner. . . Never heard of Blinky before, will definitely fire up my Spotify for a listen Hunter Gets Captured was originally the Marvelettes I think.
 11. I like watching Tal Wilkenfeld jamming on this one with Beck live at Ronnie's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zah06PvnVio Bass is a bit low in the mix but she's obviously enjoying playing it lots without any fancy stuff - just holding the groove and working it
 12.
Nice, I think she's quoting God Fear Money even if she didn't realise it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY033jfPoNk...feature=related The tone on that is unreal, how crunchy can you get???? Probably not everybodies cup of tea but I love it...
Umm, I'll have a cup of whatever you're having. . .
 13. Met Nick in a good old Basschatter's favourite venue - a motorway service station car park! Really nice guy & just one of those people you know you can trust with any sort of deal From a brief 2 minutes watching him acoustically trying out a bass I have a sneaking suspicion that this man can really play. . .
 14. Found the 'sold' section - looks like it's this one: •Bubinga top (£275 option) •Swamp Ash body, Natural high gloss finish •Maple/Purpleheart/Maple neck •Maple fingerboard •Bubinga 12th fret inlay (£45 option) •35" Scale - 24 fret •Aguilar OBP 3 band pre amp (£50 option), Bart CB pickups •Black hipshot ultralight hardware And - last but not least - the whole thing
 15. Ray recently bought an Epifani head from me & everything went really smoothly Lots of excellent communication & very understanding about a short delay when my courier failed to turn up one day. Someone I would trust completely in any deal
 16.
SOLD. THANKS.
Thank God for that - I can stop lusting after it now Great news Jo!
 17.
Are ye open to offerths! Nick (missing my old Series II!)
Get out of here Nick - you already have 57 varieties of bass, do you need any more? Definitely open to offers, I won't get into any sort of bidding war and will stick by a price if agreed. I did agree to accept an offer at more or less the asking price (depending on exchange rates) but the buyer has not confirmed payment and told me he'd understand if I took an offer from a more local source. Apologies if that's a bit too much information - just didn't want anyone to think I was trying to play multiple buyers off against each other
 18.
Thats not a wig....... This is a wig......
Now that really is a serious wig Crez - do you wear that for all your functions gigs?
 19.
Yes, I forgot yours had a blue tint to it, Al Embic Here's some recent promo pics from Blondie UK. Ignore the fat bloke. The bass is the important bit
I thought these promo pics were rather nice?
 20. This is kinda in an 'under offer' state on a deal to take it tot he USA but the buyer has been taking a while to confirm all details so I'm not 100% sure if he's going to confirm. Thought I'd give it a bump just in case anyone over here fancies it
 21. I love the look of these - especially in the funky green colour
 22.
Really well thanks, had my first gig with her on Wednesday. Cut through like an absolute bullet with a lot of rumble , I was extremely happy . The B on it is just insane . I now just need to get over my extreme fear of taking it to gigs in case it gets scratched! haha.
I gigged with mine on Saturday. Vaguely amusing little story from the interval of the gig when a bass player in the audience started talking to me. He told me had a newish Fender USA Jazz. I mentioned that whilst I liked the good old J bass I'd only ever owned one Fender and that was an old '70's Musicmaster. He then proceeded to go through a long speech about how great Fenders were and took great pains to explain that if a US Standard was a bit expensive for me then I should consider the Mex basses as they were such great quality. I'm fairly sure that because I was using a tiny Benz Shuttle for amplification at the gig he thought I was a bit of a bass man on the cheap and that the MTD must have been some cheapo Korean thing. I asked what he thought of my bass and he said it looked pretty. I said that it was a USA MTD and that he should try one if he got a chance. He said he'd look out for them in a fairly offhand way and I then casually mentioned that they were excellent but quite expensive - about £3K new but if he shopped around he might be lucky enough to find a used one for somewhere around the £2K mark. . . His jaw dropped and and his mouth gaped open for ages - he then completely stuttered over his words for a minute or two and then quietly shuffled away, lol. N.B. I really do like Fender J basses & I would never normally have tried to pull any sort of 'one-upmanship' trick like this (not least because the price of something may not be a true reflection of value & it's all subjective anyway) but he was very condescending in the way he was talking to me so I couldn't resist
