1.
would you take fender jazz '73 (sunburst, tort, maple with blocks) for this bass?
Sorry - forgot to reply. I'm only really interested in 5 strings at the moment
 2.
Sorry to have to point this out, but the E looks well out of alignment with the pole pieces in those pics. Unusual for a Sado, as they tend to have perfect bridge/pup/neck alignment. I think the Schaller bridge allows adjustment for this though...
Spooky - I spotted this yesterday afternoon & re-set everything! The bridge has little roller adjustments so you can get the alignment just right and they move really easily when not held firmly by the pressure of the string. The E must have drifted over to one side at the last string change (it's had a couple of changes recently) so I've rolled it back to the correct position now
 3.
Envy is a sickening condition. One for which I struggle to be pardoned.
Blackmail someone with a car to drive up - tickets are about £32 a pop but it's a good venue &, based on the '08 live album, the band sound great
 4. He wrote back to me! He is MD again & will be over here soon. I'm really excited about seeing both her live and the wonderful Mr Gouche in the flesh. I've bought standing tickets & will be as close to the front as I can get
 5.
It's a good chance it's still Gouche, if so it's even more of a reason to go.
Just checked his schedule & it looks like he's free after Jan 20th so could well be him. I've tried writing to him via MySpace - be interesting to see if he replies If he does I'll try not to gush with praise about how wonderful he is, lol.
 6.
I saw her at Indigo at the O2 last year. If it's the same band you're in for a treat! Really good reworking of their songs, played with a contemporary gospel feel, but without the overplaying. I don't know who the bass player was but looked like he was also the MD. Seriously on it! Andrew
Sounds like it was Gouche as he's MD on the '08 live album I'm listening to now - ooh, spooky, as I wrote that he played a great little fill on I'm Every Woman!
 7.
I must admit i feel the same. Ever since i saw those thighs and thigh high boots on The Tube (the program, not the trian ;-) oh, and the music is great as well.
She's wearing some thigh highs & leopard skin leotard in this vid from the 80's. Really shakin' that booty too
 8.
"Coming to london" She still lives in London
I stand corrected I had no idea she'd adopted us as a home - she always feels so much like a classic 'larger than life' American legend! I'm listening to her '08 live album right now. I think it's Andrew Gouche on bass, cracking band all round
 9.
Molan....when she live??, to be honest i dont care about bass players..shes everything i love about music right there...
Feb 3 at the Shepherd Bush Empire. About £30 a ticket I think. Pretty good stand up venue, I've seen loads of good people there
 10.
What was he playing????
I think it was Fender Jazz 24, looked quite nice as it happens
 11.
I haven't tried a bass in a shop for about 10 years. I haven't been in a shop that had basses I wanted to play.
Only takes me about 15 mins to get to the Gallery from my office so I guess I'm a bit spoilt. Popped in this week & had a quick try out on a US Spector, a Skjold & a Ken Smith - all played through an Epifani 502 & matching Epi 4x10 cab
 12. Chaka has had a string of top bass men playing with her but I don't think either Andrew Gouche or Melvin Davis are out with her this time around?
 13. This really is a beautiful bass, stunning to look at in the flesh and a great range of tones. Only traded by me because I was moving over to 5 strings. Here's a couple of, rather tacky, pics of it in action Dunno who that dodgy looking geezer is playing it though. . .
 14. I was in a bass shop recently & trying a few different basses and going through some very simple patterns from songs I play in my functions band to try and hear how a bass might fit into my personal live gigging situation plus a few riffs I sometimes stumble over to get a good 'feel' for playability of each bass. Then a, much younger, bass player came in and chose a relatively stock Fender to try. He then proceeded to slap, pop & tap non-stop for about 15 minutes. He obviously had talent but most of what he was playing would never be used in a band situation. I don't have a problem with anyone giving something a good work out but the thing that surprised me was that he then said he was going to buy the only bass he'd tried purely on the basis of his widdle-fest. Am I alone in trying to play simple practical stuff I actually use when trying a bass in a shop environment?
 15. I've just got in from rehearsal playing this one: First time I've been able to use it at any sort of decent volume and in a band environment & it sounded just great and was lovely to play over an extended period
 16. Is this now residing at the Gallery? If not then it has a twin
 17.
Oh yeah - just a tad... not to mention all the effects pedals...
Ooh yes, I'd forgotten about those, looked like hours of fun to be had playing with them all
 18.
Indeed - he was the original owner. He imported a pair from new at the time that US Sadowskys were nowhere to be seen on our shores. (I took the original pics for him!)
And a very nice chap too Great collection of basses as well, some real jaw dropping guitars on his walls!
 19. Very close to a trade on this so this is my last plug to see if anyone fancies making a cash offer. If anyone is really serious I would take a reasonable deposit & lock it away for a while before completion
 20.
Swap for a Stingray?
Don't say you're bored with it already
 21.
Whats weird is I look at that and think 'that looks awesome', I have a Jazz in the same colour and don't think it looks very good.
i've always quite liked LP blue as a stock Fender colour but I do think it suits the slimmed down lines of the DJ better than some other basses. Not sure entirely why but I always prefer Jazz & p basses in solid colours or sunburst, I've never thought that the sparkle finishes work as well. However some of them look great on a Strat - well, I think so anyway
 22. I'm on a roll with pics now - here's a few more
 23.
That case IS gorgeous!
Just for you - it's a case porn pic
 24. This might be a decent guide to what was being asked for one last autumn: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=30494&hl=wal Bear in mind that the £ would ahve been stronger against the dollar then. Given the generally depressed state of the £ it would be a good time to sell in mainland Europe or the States
 25. Couple of requests for more pics so here's some taken today. I have larger higher rez versions if anyone want to see them
