It's a good chance it's still Gouche, if so it's even more of a reason to go.
Just checked his schedule & it looks like he's free after Jan 20th so could well be him. I've tried writing to him via MySpace - be interesting to see if he replies If he does I'll try not to gush with praise about how wonderful he is, lol.
I saw her at Indigo at the O2 last year. If it's the same band you're in for a treat! Really good reworking of their songs, played with a contemporary gospel feel, but without the overplaying. I don't know who the bass player was but looked like he was also the MD. Seriously on it! Andrew
Sounds like it was Gouche as he's MD on the '08 live album I'm listening to now - ooh, spooky, as I wrote that he played a great little fill on I'm Every Woman!
I must admit i feel the same. Ever since i saw those thighs and thigh high boots on The Tube (the program, not the trian ;-) oh, and the music is great as well.
She's wearing some thigh highs & leopard skin leotard in this vid from the 80's. Really shakin' that booty too
"Coming to london" She still lives in London
I stand corrected I had no idea she'd adopted us as a home - she always feels so much like a classic 'larger than life' American legend! I'm listening to her '08 live album right now. I think it's Andrew Gouche on bass, cracking band all round

What do you play if you're trying a bass in a music shop?
I haven't tried a bass in a shop for about 10 years. I haven't been in a shop that had basses I wanted to play.
Only takes me about 15 mins to get to the Gallery from my office so I guess I'm a bit spoilt. Popped in this week & had a quick try out on a US Spector, a Skjold & a Ken Smith - all played through an Epifani 502 & matching Epi 4x10 cab -
Chaka has had a string of top bass men playing with her but I don't think either Andrew Gouche or Melvin Davis are out with her this time around?

What do you play if you're trying a bass in a music shop?
molan posted a topic in General Discussion
I was in a bass shop recently & trying a few different basses and going through some very simple patterns from songs I play in my functions band to try and hear how a bass might fit into my personal live gigging situation plus a few riffs I sometimes stumble over to get a good 'feel' for playability of each bass. Then a, much younger, bass player came in and chose a relatively stock Fender to try. He then proceeded to slap, pop & tap non-stop for about 15 minutes. He obviously had talent but most of what he was playing would never be used in a band situation. I don't have a problem with anyone giving something a good work out but the thing that surprised me was that he then said he was going to buy the only bass he'd tried purely on the basis of his widdle-fest. Am I alone in trying to play simple practical stuff I actually use when trying a bass in a shop environment? -
Ash's MTD 535! Finished! Pics up with more coming :)

I've just got in from rehearsal playing this one: First time I've been able to use it at any sort of decent volume and in a band environment & it sounded just great and was lovely to play over an extended period -
Indeed - he was the original owner. He imported a pair from new at the time that US Sadowskys were nowhere to be seen on our shores. (I took the original pics for him!)
And a very nice chap too Great collection of basses as well, some real jaw dropping guitars on his walls!
Whats weird is I look at that and think 'that looks awesome', I have a Jazz in the same colour and don't think it looks very good.
i've always quite liked LP blue as a stock Fender colour but I do think it suits the slimmed down lines of the DJ better than some other basses. Not sure entirely why but I always prefer Jazz & p basses in solid colours or sunburst, I've never thought that the sparkle finishes work as well. However some of them look great on a Strat - well, I think so anyway

This might be a decent guide to what was being asked for one last autumn: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=30494&hl=wal Bear in mind that the £ would ahve been stronger against the dollar then. Given the generally depressed state of the £ it would be a good time to sell in mainland Europe or the States
Did this bass previously belong to a certain Gil from Dunfermline? Would you be interested in a trade plus cash for a metro rv5 sadowsky?! c
Previous owner was in Stafford and I think he'd had it a fair while. I'm not an expert on the Metro range so not sure which one the RV is? Zap me a PM and we can exchange email address so you can maybe post me some pics?

Ok, so here's another DJ4 up for grabs. I really like this one but have moved over to 5 strings soon after taking delivery of this so it'snot going to get used much. I have a couple of potential trade options kicking around but nothing confirmed yet so thought I'd see if there's any interest in an outright sale or alternative trades. I imported this from the USA last year and it's only been tried out at one rehearsal since. Hence it's totally unmarked and looks like it's just left the factory I specified a Lakland USA hard case which is much higher quality than standard and set me back an additional £100. I relaise a lot of people don't get that excited about cases but it's certainly the nicest case I've ever owned & looks really cool - well, in my opinion anyway! I also had a set of Aero pickups professionally installed at a cost of about £75 as these were the original units specced by old DJ himself. Lakland now supply their own brand pickups. A lot of people claim that the Aeros are far nicer than the Laklands but I've also read reviews (mostly from owners of Lakland brand pickups) that say the Laklands are just as good. All I can say is that you pay your money & take your choice, lol. The bass also came with a D-tuner fitted. Not sure if this is standard equipment or not but obviously it's a useful little addition. I'm asking £700 for the complete package including the nice Lakland case. I've seen DJs selling for less but this is effectively a brand new bass with useful grades and extras. Generally happy to think about trading for any other basses, ideally 5 strings. Probably more interested in similar value swap or trading up for something of a higher value (adding cash to the deal) rather than trading down to earn some money. I've added some pics of the bass - along with the case I have plenty more pics if anyone's interested!
They said the story was true on the documentary Despite his obvious talent, I thought Paul Simon came across as being a bit of a D*ck on the documentary. I wanted to like him but I couldn't.
I can't put my finger on it but he annoys me as well - could that horrible whining voice he has. . .
