1.
Alas no. TF550B.
Still a nice piece of kit
2.
Still available? Also, how much would shipping cost to Sweden? Please PM me if the bass hasn't sold yet! Cheers\Samuel
Details on their way
3. Thought I'd see if I could post the pic in as a direct link for you:
4. I had a very early Streamer with all the "desirable" bits & bobs of the early models - it even came strung with those Maxima Gold strings to set off the gold hardware. Trouble was I never got on with the damn thing! Could never put my finger on it but felt like a clunky old beast next to the Kubicki I traded it for. Obviously this was a big mistake financially, the Warwick would probably be worth twice what I paid for it now whilst the Kubicki is close to half the value. Having said that the Warwick wasn't for me and I've always enjoyed playing the Kubicki. It really is "horses for courses"!
5. Just wondered if it's possible to junk that odd looking scratchplate on the Japanese Marcus Miller & replace it with a regular shaped one without having to undergo major surgery on the electrics? To my mind the standard fit item on the MM bass just looks "wrong"
6. I have a Euphonic CXl 1x12 which is a nice little live gigging cab (in my opinion anyway!). Will probably sell it soon though as I've just picked up a couple of EBS cabs. One of these is a 2x12 and it's really punchy with a deep tone but a crisp top end as well. Haven't been able to gig with it yet but have a feeling it might be a really good standalone 12" option. I've tried it back to back with the EBS 2x10 and the 12 is way deeper in tone that the 10. If you're anywhere near me then you're welcome to try any of them - I'm in Henley by the way.
7.
Incidentally, is it only me that places the playability of an instrument as the first and by far the greatest priority?
Playability is top of my list too! Looks & sound are obviously important but, with my limited ability, I really value something that just feels right.
8.
I'm not gigging for a few weeks, so I'm gassing. for what, I'm not sure though!
Buy a pedal - that'll keep you happy for a bit
9.
Did this ever sell?
It moved to the rehearsal rooms, lol. Because it's so light and has a really slim neck it's great for long rehearsal sessions! However the Lakland is destined to become the new "everyday" bass so the Kubicki will be home again soon.
10.
Sold!
a man of few words. . . . . . . . . . .. and many notes
11.
Is that all?.......You only live once.
God point - let's see if I survive the op OK
12.
Glad you got hold of the Sadowsky in the end - I know you have been watching that for ages... and isn't Neil a top bloke??
Neil was a really nice guy. Great collection of basses & more than happy to let me try any of them. And what about that collection of pedals? Went round with a plan to spend half an hour & get back home & stayed nearly two hours
13.
Just don't try playing it under anaesthetic ...
Don't worry, I won't be strong enough to lift it!
14. Just bought a pair of EBS cabs from Jake today. Both in absolutely mint condition! Great communications and really smooth organisation - top all round guy
15. Well - the Modulus VJ has gone to a good home but the Lakland & the Status have now been joined by a rather delightful Sadowsky NYC in a beautiful deep blue quiled maple finish and the MarkBass has two new, and significantly larger, EBS cabs - a 2x12 & a 2x10. The wife is far from impressed Another couple of hundred pounds worth of motorcyle bits should sell on Flea Bay this week so that'll make a bit of a dent in the debt mountain!
16. Now happily residing in the house of mole next to its new friends, a pair of EBS cabs and a Lakland JO
17. Both cabs now residing in the house of mole How could I resist Jake's sales pitch: "The 212 basically kicks you in the nuts as the 210's hitting you in the face!" Just need to find a head to go with them now
18.
Nup. Not switchable on the TD650 at least. Haven't got any of the others to hand... looks like you need a transformer.
Yep - just spoke to an American dealer who confirmed they are not voltage switcheable. That's that idea knocked on the head then!
19. Obviously part of the problem is that the whole "chain" has an effect on the final sound. As an example my previous Modulus VJ didn't sound quite right with the new MarBass 1x12 combo I've just bought but sounded great through an EBS Drome. Meanwhile I've now picked up a Lakland JO with a maple neck that just seems to suit the Mark really well. And I'm comparing the VJ with brand new bright strings against the JO with older half rounds. I must admit, that from what I've heard, EBS gear has a lovely "pure" sound that might fit the bill so if you're after a combo then the Gorm Neo would be a definite audition option. I haven't played a redhead but I owned a nice SM400 for a while that managed to ahve a nice clean tone as well as the option to rock out a bit more when pushed. Of course - part of the real difference is your good old fingers. I know mine will never sound like Bernard Edwards however hard I try
20. We always have bass in both the FOH & monitors. However the monitor mix is not for me, just for the guitarist who's generally the other side of the stage from me. Always have bass Di'd intot he FOH but relative amount is flexible depending on venue. Small gigs would probably be backline online. NB - Did anyone read the Gary tallant interview in this month's Bass player? His backline is purely for show at gigs. They use it for sound check and as a back up but the speaker is completely disconnected when playing ive. He relies on in-ear monitors only. Personally I like to have a bit of trouser flappage behind me - but then I haven't been playing 3 hour Springsteen gigs for the past 35 years!
21. I'm shopping for an EBS head at the moment and been offered some great deals in the USA (including shipping!). However I'm not sure about how easy they are to swap between voltages. I've had amps in the past with simple flick switches but I don't think the EBS has these. I've tried asking EBS via their website but no response (yet). Just wondered if any EBS users out there knew anything about this?
22. I've always got on with drummers, may vaguely help that I was a drum roadie for a short period and do actually get quite interested when I see a really nice kit (my last drummer had a lovely green sparkle Yamaha!). My current drummer is like a metronome. Has every song written down and reads whilst playing, has an in-ear monitor system with a click track and pretty much never misses a beat. Lucky in a way as he's a bit of a "jazzer" and has lost me on more than occasion with one of his strange time signature fills but then is straight back on the one bang on time after the fill! Now, don't get me started on singers though, that's a whole different world of pain. . . . . . . .
23. I bought a very nice early Streamer from them years ago. Actually traded it to the Bass Centre for more than I paid for it. Used to have a nice guy in the shop who was their main bass man. Of course the irony is that I traded it for a Kubicki which is now worth about half the value of an early Streamer through neck! If you are buying a brand new Ricky then maybe the thing to do is to shop around for the best price? Plenty of new Rickenbackers out there & quality on a brand new one ought to be pretty constant.
24. I subscribed to Bass Player direct via the US. Way cheaper than buying it in the UK. Works out at about £2 an issue including postage; https://subscribe.pcspublink.com/subscribeF...PLY&term=12
