1. I must admit that I kinda like them. There's a lot of this very 'technical' playing stuff out there these days and much of it leaves me cold but these guys seem to have a bit more life about them and I really like the new arrangements of existing songs. I find them hard to listen to on any sort of extended basis but the odd song or two now and then always makes me smile
2. It'll be interesting to see what happens to them once they've been sold. Current owners saying the sale of the business is purely for expansion but too many times a new owner seems to wreck a business in the music industry
3.
I'm hoping to get to the London show too. Hopefully catch you there Molan..anyone else?! Tom
There are two London shows in Nov and another next Mar
4.
Has he considered a career in politics?
No, but he does work in advertising
5. We were sitting in our local pub after rehearsal a few weeks ago and they had MTV on. A female singer came on and I said to the band that I thought she was pretty good and the bass sounded great - then I spotted Lee Sklar and looked her up. Had never heard anything from her before but thought she sounded great. Would love to see that band live, will have to check out local dates Edit: this is the TV show we saw. Love the band at around 10 minutes in: http://www.vintage.tv/catch-up/video/3769020879001/ Have bought tix for November gig in London
6. Another killer bass from Mr Bassman!
7. A friend of mine was once recruited into a band whilst standing at a bar because the lead singer mentioned he really fancied a synth player. My friend mentioned he had a real cheapo Wasp synth. He couldn't really play it but simply having one was enough and he was immediately offered the gig. Only lasted a few gigs and one album but had one really big hit single. The lead singer died years ago and my friend helped re-form the band and thy are now a staple on the post punk / 80's revival circuit. Somewhat amusingly not only can he not really play keys but he can't really sing either - he's now their lead singer
8. If the active treble and bass aren't obvious and the battery is running out so quickly then it sounds like there's a wiring fault somewhere. I've never really heard of a battery losing charge so quickly but I've definitely experienced tone controls that don't appear to do anything. In fact we had a, very expensive, bass in the shop recently with a balance control that was either all one pickup or the other or both in full. Effectively a pickup flick switch rather than a gradual blend. One of the pickups was really weedy and thin as well. Turned out to be a relatively simple re-wire and, I think, a pot replacement.
9. Wow, the black marble finish looks amazing and is very rare! I bet this sounds great too
Have you???
Only briefly when you picked it up We've still got some screws by the way.
Don't be put off: try a GR55 with a well set-up GK3B and see what you think. I run the GR55 into a Bass pos XT for other effects. I run the amp flat, only dialling in anything the venue needs at sound check.
The Tobias is still working well then I must admit that I've heard this bass working with the Roland kit and it sounded really nice. Didn't hear any glitching or tracking issues
12. Yep, vid is working on my iPhone and vids here often don't load properly for me
13. What's great about it? Looks like a fairly standard everyday Yam?
14. For small gigs and rehearsals this is a great little combo. £200 is an absolute steal! The saving off the new price generates a decent sum towards one the funky GK powers extension cabs that match this to make a cool 440x 2x12 portable rig
15. Malcolm always was the band for me
16. If you took the feet off would it slot more neatly between the cab corner protectors and the overhang wouldn't be as visible?
17. I've never heard a TH not sound good with any cab combination I was using a TH350 with a DB210 today - sounded huge with loads of low end!
18. I love shell pink, looks great on this
19.
Oh god, thats going to be extremely dangerous for my bank balance! Hopefully I can put some money aside and pop down when these come in.
They've arrived
20. I remember thinking how pretty this looked when it was up for sale once before, love that deep blue with maple look Have a bump on me
21. I remember these coming out and thought it looked quit cool - mind you, I'm a sucker for a shiny silver or gold finish I think this is the same instrument? http://youtu.be/hdPZ7GnNhQ4 MusicZoo has some nice pics of these too: http://www.themusiczoo.com/product/7382/Jackson-Custom-Shop-David-Ellefson-RIP-Signature-Bass-Quicksilver/

bag end cabs

BassGear were officially the exclusive supplier in the UK but there was little demand for them and just let the stock run out Great cabs but universally heavy and just not what the UK market seemed to want. We had to discount heavily in the end in order to sell them. Because of the weight they are sea-shipping only to get any sort of reasonable price and even then you have to order a pallet load to make them viable. We can still get them but placing an order for an individual cab would be pretty expensive I'm afraid
23. One thing I've noticed is how many people in bands aren't particularly musical anoraks. A lot of them 'like what they like' and aren't open to new ideas or looking beyond a very fixed and often quite limited musical genre. By definition this might mean that they aren't 'into' music per the OP even though they are competent musically and out playing public gigs Also - listening to music in the car is one of my favourite pastimes and really helps to expand my musical tastes. I put all my new music here and try things out I might not have time for at home. It's especially good travelling to and from gigs & rehearsals (minimum about 45 mins drive - equivalent to an old-fashioned album). I have a 160GB iPod wired into the car with a decent sound system that even has sub-woofers inside the seats. Adds a whole new definition to 'bowel trembling bass'. . .
24.
The weight is 4,3 kg . @Molan : buy this one too, that way you'll can compare ;-) Fred
Are you reading my mind Fred? It's right on the cusp of the weight I can handle, the Lull is only 3.6kg!
25. Just found a reference to nut width on the Xotic site and they quote it at 42mm (as per the pic) so it is the 'in between' width. Any idea roughly how much it weighs? If I didn't have a Lull PJ arriving on Tuesday I'd be all over this!
