1. I love shell pink, looks great on this
2.
Oh god, thats going to be extremely dangerous for my bank balance! Hopefully I can put some money aside and pop down when these come in.
They've arrived
3. I remember thinking how pretty this looked when it was up for sale once before, love that deep blue with maple look Have a bump on me
4. I remember these coming out and thought it looked quit cool - mind you, I'm a sucker for a shiny silver or gold finish I think this is the same instrument? http://youtu.be/hdPZ7GnNhQ4 MusicZoo has some nice pics of these too: http://www.themusiczoo.com/product/7382/Jackson-Custom-Shop-David-Ellefson-RIP-Signature-Bass-Quicksilver/

bag end cabs

BassGear were officially the exclusive supplier in the UK but there was little demand for them and just let the stock run out Great cabs but universally heavy and just not what the UK market seemed to want. We had to discount heavily in the end in order to sell them. Because of the weight they are sea-shipping only to get any sort of reasonable price and even then you have to order a pallet load to make them viable. We can still get them but placing an order for an individual cab would be pretty expensive I'm afraid
6. One thing I've noticed is how many people in bands aren't particularly musical anoraks. A lot of them 'like what they like' and aren't open to new ideas or looking beyond a very fixed and often quite limited musical genre. By definition this might mean that they aren't 'into' music per the OP even though they are competent musically and out playing public gigs Also - listening to music in the car is one of my favourite pastimes and really helps to expand my musical tastes. I put all my new music here and try things out I might not have time for at home. It's especially good travelling to and from gigs & rehearsals (minimum about 45 mins drive - equivalent to an old-fashioned album). I have a 160GB iPod wired into the car with a decent sound system that even has sub-woofers inside the seats. Adds a whole new definition to 'bowel trembling bass'. . .
7.
The weight is 4,3 kg . @Molan : buy this one too, that way you'll can compare ;-) Fred
Are you reading my mind Fred? It's right on the cusp of the weight I can handle, the Lull is only 3.6kg!
8. Just found a reference to nut width on the Xotic site and they quote it at 42mm (as per the pic) so it is the 'in between' width. Any idea roughly how much it weighs? If I didn't have a Lull PJ arriving on Tuesday I'd be all over this!
9. What nut width is it? I seem to remember it's an 'in-between' width of around 1.625" (42mm). If it was a slinky J width of 1.50" I'd be seriously interested in one of these!
10.
Yup, Markbass are great at discontinuing great stuff like the F series.
Alain Caron combo is discontinued as well now - best combo they made I thought
11.
With only 3 intonation screws, no wonder they're giving it away. Telecaster bass..?
Isn't that a Hipshot B bridge? Has one intonation screw per string?
12.
TH preamp into a good power amp.
Good shout - We've tried a TH500 pre into a Demeter Minnie power amp and it sounded great!
13. All ordered Basswitch / Sonic Spark / both Booster pedals and the Julian! The first three are all RMI products built in association with Lehle and using some shared tech & parts. Everything comes in through Lehle on a distribution deal though. Should be in fairly soon. They are great guys to deal with
14.
that's what I saw too... But if you look at the specs that are different you can see what they changed. While i'm happy to point to the document I've not enough knowledge of amps to publicly pontificate on what it means !
I agree - I think the summary was something along the lines of "our watts are different to other people's watts'
15. I heard a demo last year of MarkBass heads into a Barefaced cab and then the MB into MB cabs. There were about 10 of us in the room and the universal preference was for MB into MB - the only person who disagreed just happened to be the demonstrator - he also happened to be the person trying to sell the Barefaced cab I know Alex from BF said he liked the big clean power of Carvin amps, especially the B2000, to go with his cabs. Most of the Carvins go to 2 ohms as well which is really handy if you have a pair of 4 ohm cabs. We recently set up a B1000 with a vertical stack of 3 Bergantino CN112's - sounded awesome
16.
the power specs tc provide for the rh line are quite interesting - the 750 is more powerful but not really in a conventional sense. If you look it up the figures they give go part the way of explaining how they perform
What output does it have if measured 'conventionally'? I seem to remember the 450 being about 235w but just assumed the 750 was proportionately higher and around 400w. EDIT - just looked it up and the RH750 appears to be 236w as well if measured by standard means! Or maybe I'm reading the spec sheets incorrectly?
17. AG500 sounds very different to the DB751. Tone Hammer is a lot closer. I know two high end pro players how use 751's for big gigs and Tone Hammers for clubs and smaller venues
18. Time to cut out the after-dinner port eh Clarky I can get you some low tension flats for a regular bass if you need any. They really do feel very slinky!
19.
Absolutely I was speaking to mark at bass direct about this, it's something to do with a filter they have In The circuitry that cuts the highs The 750 does not have the same circuitry I too want to try some GK heads on the neo 112 cabs, but can't seem to find anyone with it is stock Molan do you have one in at bass gear ? Thanks
I think there's even more to it than just the lack of sparkly highs. The signal seems to be really squashed and compressed (even with the compressor off) and this seems to kill tone live. There are people out there that like these though so it's obviously just a subjective view and prices on the 450's went through the floor for a while (£385 new!) so they're relatively low cost to experiment with. I have heard much better things about the 750 but haven't wanted to try one live after my experience with the 450. We've had GK Neos in but sold quite quickly. New order will go in today
20.
I noticed that Bass Gear have the big Basswitch, I would love to know what these smaller pedals are like especially as the big one is so highly regarded. Please do get on the case and see if you can test them out. I think they offer a good alternative to the current preamp pedals, I don't need a DI and all the other bits found on the Tonehammer, MicroBass, and sansamp. I like the idea of just a high quality preamp with good EQ to boost my passive basses a bit. I will have to make my way down to the shop if you get some in, nowhere else has them.
Trying to get an order placed today Have you looked at their other signal booster type switches? There's a Classic Boost, Clean Boost & the, interestingly named, Julian which has parametric mid options. All of the Lehle kit is really nicely made, they just ooze class Lotta senior pro guys have a Basswitch on their boards - it's a really impressive unit for switching, tone shaping, boost and has a top quality DI in case your amp goes down!
21.
Agree with all above as with Lozz I feel in a live band situation i head for the Markbass most gigs ( function band and rock n roll stuff) it cuts and has a air to it that lets the harmonic content breath. MB500 fusion gets used a lot for practice and jazz gigs spade loads of warmth with the three valves you can get glass too but easy to loose your mids and over scoop it. I Find it more difficult to plug and play with the GK at volume but could just be me messing. Molan hasn't mentioned the Carvin class D amp. worth checking at the price. has graphic and comp and valve and para and yes i am still very tempted to give up my GK for the extra Para and graphic oh and 2 x 12 as well from me
Oh Ok then, it's worth looking at Carvin as well. The BX700 has a lot of fans and the B1000 is really nice for big clean power. Both are really well priced for USA made heads. If you do decide to try TC and are tempted by the RH450 then make sure you try one in a band situation and not just a shop demo. There's something in the circuitry that makes these sound good in low volume demo situations (or at bedroom volume) but they can be absolute tone suckers live. Simply the worst live amp I've ever used
22. They've come down in price a fair bit now. Were £200 when first released but down to about £170 now. We thought about ordering a couple to try out in the shop along with the new boost pedals that also came out this year. I actually forgot all about them with all the NAMM excitement! May have to get on the case today!
23. My favourites are probably Aguilars. Never really heard a bad one and lots of high end US builders are starting to offer them as a standard option now. They have a 60's and 70's voiced J set available
24. Big Bang is my favourite MB head. I like the general tone but also the aux in/headphone out options which are really rare for an MB. For big lumps of clean power the SD800 is nice, tried one once with a 4x10 plus 2x10 MB cab setup and it sounded huge
25. These are great cabs, never really understood why MB discontinued them!
