  1. Price drop £115 on BC only. So I bought a Line 6 G75 wireless... I've never used it beyond testing at home and in the rehearsal rooms. It's new and in the original box. I also bought the Levys leather pouch to hold the transmitter unit on your belt or guitar strap which I'm putting in with the unit. I like the idea of these but in a year just haven't used it on any gigs and so I need to raise funds for a new purchase, this is top of the list to go. Pickup preferred from St Albans/ Welwyn GC area but happy to post at cost to Buyer. Ask me anything I'll try to help.
  2. I kept my Sire V7 Vintage for 6 months before selling... I only sold out of a sense of guilt because I'd splashed out a tax rebate on a stingray. Now I miss having a jazz type bass and for the money and the options available for a lefty I want a Sire again. Or a Fender. Maybe a Sire... I did like my old Fender though... But the Sire has a good active system....
  3. There's just something about the look of a fretless unlined Ray. Beautiful.
  4. Stop teasing the 80s obsessed left handers!!!

    Classic knobs.
  6. The best Trace Head is the one you haven't managed to try yet. They're all awesome in their own way, I love em but am being sensible and not buying one for just when I fancy it.
  7. I really have a Marshall DBS itch. In my head I expect these to sound phenomenal, lots of deep round bass goodness and a bit of valvey grit when you want it. Think the GAS for these starts from when I first started out and there was a Marshall DBS combo in the local music shop and they used to hand out catalogues so you gazed longingly at all this amazing gear you could never hope to afford as a 15 year old doing summer jobs at £2.50 an hour. Growing up in a small Northern town you didn't really see Trace Elliot or other exotic stuff, just what was in the local shop. I had a second hand Marshall 150watt combo, can't remember the model right now but with the valve and solid state blend. It was completely shagged and had hardly any volume, was also ridiculously heavy, but in the band I had aged 17 and up against a Marshall half stack it could have been glorious, but a DBS was the dream!

Decent amps! There are more functionally rich amps out there but these do everything you could ever call essential and some more! Great for a gigging player. Hope the 2x12s sound good. I like mine with 2x15s myself, but I think that's just me being fussy! I got the Ashdown 2x button footswitch for mine so on cramped stages where I can't take my effects pedal I have access to the drive and sub (yes, I am the one person who actually uses it!).
  10. Primus, Zappa, Kills witch Engage, Five Finger Death Punch, anything jazz based like Miles Davis or Weather Report/ Jaco scares off the Mrs. The kids generally love metal (both are under 4) and I used to sing them to sleep with NIB.
  11. So I don't know if this has been covered at all or if its considered too obvious. I don't want to bother reviewing the amp because for bass it's pretty straightforward. There are three quite limited effects you can add, two amp types that aren't wildly different, but bass reproduction is good and using the Insider software makes tweaking the effects and saving presets nice and easy. I've got "better" kit but just knocking about with some mates we decided to record a song. The software can give you a click track to play along to but what I found really smart was that I was able to use Songsterr through a Web browser and have the backing track play through the BEAM while I chugged along on bass and my Audacity program recorded the bass line I was playing only. Pretty smart I think, does exactly what you want it to. I could do all that without reading any instructions whatsoever. I recorded a p bass with the amp sim, then a fretless using some light chorus and delay, then a Stingray with amp sim only. Overall I'm impressed. For electric guitar it will be even better. What I need to try next is using my own effects before the amp to see how it handles external effects. I have a Boss GT10B which I always expected to be using for my recording as amp sim and effects but the ability to hear everything at once through the BEAM is really neat. For £150 it's pricey as a small amp unless you want to use it for guitar, acoustic and recording, as well as a handy Bluetooth speaker. It will never be the best recording device, bass amp, guitar amp, etc. on its own but as an all in one package I'm really pleased.
  12. Being carried in to the good the bad and the ugly theme tune would create some dramatic tension...
  13. Interesting... There's one just come on Reverb yesterday based in London for £500....
  14. I know what you mean! The whole riff library seems to be out of stock the one moment you want to be trying them all!
  15. Yeah, that was sort of my point. I'm in no way criticising Sandbergs BTW... The Sandberg P+MM I played at the bass show a few years back is probably the best instrument I've ever played.
  16. For me it needs to be an older style bass to wear the roadworn look best, like a P a J or a Gibson bass, not something too modern with a design that hasn't been around long enough to get the wear, just my personal opinion. I also see Sandbergs and think they all look the same in wear patterns, someone earlier mentioned the Flea Jazz, that bugs me too. I want roadwear to be unique to the bass. My old MIM Jazz had a poly finish but had been poorly treated by a previous owner. While it was a great playing bass I'd carry it without a case most the time, let the strings drag on the body when I swapped them out, didn't cover up a hole drilled through the headstock, etc etc to let it take on a life of its own. It even had a bit of chrome finish from the giant bridge ashtray flake off which added to its world-weary appearance. I smashed the bottom in to the floor in a fit of punkness in protest at being asked to wind up early in a sh!thole practice room and had to reset the strap button but left the bare wood where the paint had come off in big chunks, the wear was encouraged but never forced, though I was tempted.
  17. That calls for the Jimmy Carr response: "I'm trying to work here. I don't come round your workplace and knock all the sailors' Cox out your mouth, do I?!"
  18. Does anyone know the technical name for the size of USB port in the Blackstar BEAM, please? I don't have a cable that fits it and need to order one but don't want to go "lucky dip" on Amazon! Thank you!
  19. Nice looking Westone Thunder 1A has come up on ebay at what looks like a good bid price, I have no association with the seller, I just like the idea of having one of these... Can't seem to copy a link... Anyway, it's on ebay under left handed basses right now.
  20. Good point! It made a subtle difference to my bass. I've not played many MIM Jazzes but just think I either got lucky with a good one or just had a good bond with it. Your MIJ will be a lot better. Personally I wouldn't want odd pickups in a bass so would swap them out but there's a huge amount of replacements to choose from. Bartolinis don't have the exposed pole pieces so don't look authentic. The ones I had sounded good but to me never screamed "70s" so I guess it's just down to what you think sounds good for you. If you go online there's loads of sound clips. If you wanted it all to be authentic 60s then Fender 60s reissues may be good?
  21. I've got an oddity of a bass that doesn't fit most standard gig bags but does go in to the thomann deluxe leather gig bag, I'd bet that can hold a thunderbird.
