  1. That is so disappointing for a bass that costs nearly two grand
  2. Round my way there's a good Practice Room run by a guy who runs the stages for large events and so on. Networking and being known by the people in and around there, the people on the desk, booking the gigs and so on is a must if you're looking. Also go around the venue's that put on bands chances are musos hang out there. I know if I was putting a band together and I heard there was a Texan guy who can read music and is an experienced bassist I wouldn't forget that and I'd want to know more.
  3. Part of my thinking is that hopefully the colour is a limited run, so buy one now and my kids may have something very valuable in twenty years or more. A bit like the Antigua finish that was spectacular but short lived
  4. One chrome knob and matching concentric stacked chrome knob. Hardly ever used, looks new. One black metal knob and matching concentric stacked metal knob. Hardly ever used, looks new. One black metal jazz bass neck pickup cover with mounting screws, unused. 2x brand new black strap buttons (not a matching pair) with screws. 3x odd used strap buttons with screws. One chrome, one black, one of the chrome ones looks like it could be from a strap lock system. Somehow the photo size is too large to add here so if interested in anything please PM me.
  5. Ah I get it now.... Maybe shave some wood off it. It works with cricket bats.
  6. I've wanted one of these, in this colour for a while... I tried a white one in a shop but it was all top end and no bass or mid. Hope that was just a poor setup and a bit of a dud bass... How is this soundwise?
  7. I've just seen a nice looking one advertised on Facebook. Will PM you the details. I have nothing to do with the bass, seller etc....
  8. The only drawback I can see is getting it in and out the car. Would have to drop down the back seats at least which when you've got child seats in already is a pain.
  9. Which of the Sadowsky range? Made in USA, Japan, or the new lower cost ones, which appear tempting for putting a PJ config in a j body.
  10. Genuine question: What does C&W mean? Country & Western?
  11. The blended pickup sound, just can't get what I'm searching for. Yet my double soapbar pup bass and every jazz I've had I've got on perfectly with.
  12. Me too Rhys, when I'm playing them... Yet I love PJ players like Duff McKagan...
  13. In theory a PJ bass should be everything I want. I loved my P bass, I've enjoyed every J bass I've had. I've not got on with my Warwick PJ, or the Hohner PJ before that. I've made a PJ Bitsa and put DiMarzios in it. The pups sound great individually, but together I've just never found a way to get the sound I want from PJ basses. I think it's just me, maybe my expectations are wrong or its the way I attack the strings.... Anyone else got this quandary?
  14. If that's still there then it's a minimum twenty years old!
  15. I remember when getting a gig at the Indigo was THE aspiration, and dropping them off cassettes of my band when I was 17 / 18. Never did get a gig there... Maybe have to go back all these years later!
  16. Ah Scarbados! I was born and grew up there, moved out twenty years ago and chances to go back get fewer each year. There was always a fantastic music scene there. I've never heard of the Lookout though, where is it?
  17. This stuff looks like it belongs in a server room! I bet there's some serious power and tone from these racks, I remember the SWR with shed loads of knobs being advertised and reviewed in bass mags as THE big thing. I've never had rack gear, and even looking at this I'm just not tempted. I bet it all sounds amazing, but is also heavy and requires a level of technical skill and knowledge I don't want to invest time in learning to put it all together. I don't know if that's typical of most, but that's why I don't have any of it. Now pedal versions of that SWR stuff would very much interested me....
  18. I read your post and two basses stood out: 21st birthday gift and nicest to look at with the best neck. Of the others to acknowledge one is easily replaced and the other is probably worth a shed load of cash. With regards leaving something for your kids they probably want something that was special to you, rather than something you kept in case it had decent sell on value.
  19. It probably will be now though because goods have to be checked etc. in ways they weren't before Brexit when they could move freely in and around EU countries. So it could be slower, more costly, more chance of error in paperwork slowing things down... Especially with second hand goods sent by private individuals.
  20. My Mrs wanted to buy me a turntable and a few albums for Christmas recently. I said not to bother, I've got hundreds of CDs that I don't have time to listen to, obviously there's YouTube and Amazon Prime music, Spotify, all the streaming services... I don't have the space for this stuff. It's a nice idea, I don't begrudge anyone else having vinyl if that's what they enjoy. I won't be told it's "better" though. I recently got a few tracks on Amazon HD quality and I'm hearing instruments and effects I'd never realised were in songs I was learning to cover. I've then emulated in an approximate way some of those effects and it's given me something extra on some songs. I don't think I'd have got that with vinyl, maybe not even with CD. Oh and I remember buying a 45 for 50p at Our Price records in my youth. Wish I'd kept my REM, Billy Joel and Bryan Adams vinyl now, if anything just as wall art.

  23. Being serious now.... They will be absolutely stunning to look at, hold, and to play. I do like a premium Ibanez.
