  1. I've seen that advertised in various places for a while, I just think £1000 is too much, especially at the moment second hand lefties are going for pennies.
  2. It did a set last night, nice and lightweight, very comfortable. I've got some custom pickup rings being made because the P rout isn't as meat as I'd like. They're costing me £40 so the losses are mounting!
  3. Indeed! In a band that I (happily) folded the guitarist was more bothered about programming his full fat Helix than actually learning the songs. When I told him I didn't know how to do a few things on my Stomp he was gobsmacked, "that's the whole fun of it!" He said.... I'm more interested in playing bass than p!ssing around with software, personally.
  4. Yes it will do all these things. But as some have already said, if there's a particular pedal that really works for to, and you love it, don't expect the same quality out of the HX. However if you feel like using an effect you don't have at the moment chances are it's on the Helix in a close enough quality, so you can experiment or not but new pedals then that song gets dropped off the setlist. Also to consider is how much you switch effects in and out, you may want a Stomp XL, or have to get extension switches for an ordinary Stomp. A Stomp isn't a one-box solution, sadly. I thought mine would be, but instead of having three multi effects (bass, elec guitar, acoustic guitar) I now have a board of bass effects that can do some guitar stuff too. It's not because the Helix can't do everything I want, it pretty much can, but it's because I wouldn't be able to use it live without hours and hours of pre programming which I'm not prepared to do. For example, I have a boost pedal on my board for when the singer drops out of playing guitar or when it's bass and drums only. I could do this without a separate pedal IF I set up the Helix for Snapshots or add a boost as a footswitch option, but that requires me to free up a few of my footswitches which means something else is sacrificed. Far easier to just have boost always there in a separate box.
  5. £495 or I keep it and gig it this weekend.
  6. I bought the bass essentials pack from 3 Sigma audio and it's pretty good, I also got their Trace Elliot IR which some love but I found a bit too deep and almost boomy. I've been using the Helix Stomp presets because making my own patches led to having really inconsistent volume output between patches. Like you though I want some cleaner sounds. A bit of drive helps get through the mix but I'm listening back to a gig from early December where I mostly used the "Brit Bass" preset and there's just no bottom end and too much grit, I'd like to start with a clean sound and add EQ and drive as required.... Hopefully Line6 or someone clever can create this, Boss were excellent for this with the GT10B multi.
  7. Thinking of trading to the HX Effects and getting a pre amp pedal IF I can find one that sounds good and plays nicely with both passive and active basses....
  8. That's stunning! Did the MIJ Jazz give you the J bass bug? Hope you're well mate.
  9. I get it! I'm not as extreme as you but my "one pedal solution" has become a pedal board! Here it is for the last gig but there's now a synth pedal ready to be added.... Like you I don't want to spend hours and hours programming instead of playing. That's why I use tweaked versions of the presets instead of setting up my own patches from scratch. I'm also thinking of adding a preamp pedal if I can find the right one....
  10. I had one for a while, loved it. Sounded fantastic passive.... Or I just can't get my head around a 2 band EQ!! If the string spacing weren't so tight I'd still.... Who am I kidding.
  11. Also, forgot to mention, when I bought my bass there in 2018 they gave free setups for life with it. Great if you're able to just drop in every now and then. If not, just shows they're wanting to look after their customers properly.
  12. Am sure all the others are good but the only one I've bought a bass through is Wunjo and they were superb. Just left me to it with the basses, didn't try to pressure me into the more expensive of the two I preferred... In fact didn't pressure me at all. Gave me a good deal on trade in for an old bass too. Can't speak highly enough of them.
  13. Try looking on Ann Summers website.
  14. Lovely stuff! What's the fender, that can't be a standard model.

    NBD 70s P

    Glue it onto a Status.
  16. There was a small discount, I'm not sure it was a recommendation. They were absolute turds to me when DPD lost a bass I sent for over a month. APC insure musical instruments but it's pot luck which of their branches will take something the length of a bass in a hard case plus packaging. Some depots do, some don't.
  17. Ah is your white finish a refinish? I saw a red one on eBay for less than six hundred and it went quickly. I like that each year Gibson seem to do a lefty bass, the SG, the Thunderbird and then this. The SG Bass would be my preference but would much prefer it full sized, I'm not keen on short scale basses..... Yet.
  18. What's the junior like? A red one came up on eBay a while back but I know nothing at all about them.
  19. Ah great! It is a fantastic bass. I find it easier to slap than any other bass I've had, even the Hohner B2A. I LOVED using it on 80s covers through a Trace Elliot, but notice your Marshall gear in the photo, you have great taste in bass stuff! It was a lovely bass but my sound right now is all about the Stingray, the PJ Bitsa and Jack Casady are backup to that so really it would have been sat unused in its case, which is a crying shame.
  20. Zero feedback seller... I won't touch it.
  21. I get it. If you were a non vegan trying to fake it you'd damage their whole credibility. It would be like Maggie Thatcher singing any Bruce Springsteen song like "the working life", or the Strawbs "part of the Union".
  22. Glad to hear it has worked for someone. I am well aware that my good run with UPS can't last forever!
  23. Yeah I'd always go direct to the courier. I've had bad experiences with two different intermediaries. I won't bore you with the details but basically you pay them for a service that you may or may not receive and if anything goes wrong they just don't give a sh!t, and to make it worse the courier's won't deal with you, just the intermediary who surprise surprise isn't as keen as you to get things sorted. For saving a few quid it's just not worth it.
  24. UPS have been pretty good for me recently. I've sent Ashdown cabs through them and Hermes in the last three months, both were less than £30
  25. Out: Boss GT10B, EHX Bass Mono Synth, EHX the Mole, fretless Warwick, MIJ Jazz bass 70s style, 80s Aria Pro II SB Elite, Washburn/ Status healdess 4 string, Trace Elliot 2*10 combo, Rootmaster cabs, some guitar multi effects boxes In then out again: Trace Elliot 2*10 combo, Washburn Status headless bass, EHX the Mole bass booster. In and still in: Epiphone Jack Casady, Ashdown Pro Neo cabs, Helix Stomp, AMT Bass Wah, Ashdown full boost pedal. It's been a busy year! One band never got going fully so I folded it, I left my covers band of 5years plus, and joined a new covers band with a different style and a lot more gigs booked.
