And not forgetting our very own http://www.prosebass.com/ - worth getting a quote for 33" I'd have thought.

I hope this is felt to be On Topic, and aside from the obvious self-promotion, I thought it worth pointing out to fellow northern based BC'ers that if they wanted to come to Harrogate and check out Purple-Chili bass cabs then Bass Gear is getting a truck load delivered very soon. Maybe even have a micro-bash?

Bought a Line 6 Floor Pod XT Live from Fatos. Haven't plugged it in yet, but if it's like its vendor it'll be as good gold.

Ed Friedland reviews the Classic Stingrays 4 & 5!!
Born 2B Mild replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks for the Friedland video link. I enjoyed that, but it has made selling my '92 black/maple Stingray 5 even more of a trauma. -

The auction ended, with the winning bidder paying £7,000. I wonder if it was a Basschat member?
As far as I'm aware, The Bass Merchant in Colchester are AC dealers!?
Not any more. The exclusive UK dealer is now officially Bass Gear! Despite selling some, we still have got a few ex-NAMM ACs in stock. for more details. Well done Flanker!

The same bass 36 years a go. I know there's more of my photo's that I took somewhere in the attic, but this'll have to do for now. Reading University Student Union November 1974 (exact date is listed in the excellent "No More Sad Refrains - The Life and Times of Sandy Denny" by Clinton Heylin - which I don't have)

Hutch is The Man. I met him at NAMM, back in January, and asked him when Bonnie Rait and the band will be back in Blighty. He said the UK was being scheduled for autumn this year. Let's hope so!

What would you ask Jimmy Coppolo?
Born 2B Mild replied to Born 2B Mild's topic in General Discussion
I think I can use one or two of these questions, so far Keep 'em coming! I've not had a chance to do the interview yet, as I've kept Jimmy busy sorting out actual orders ...at least three more AC's now ordered in the last three days! Phil  -
Talking aboutthe machine heads on the othe rthread on this. Do you have pictures of them back then?
I will start digging, then hopefully scanning.

A real gem. I was only a newbie bass player when I first saw this bass in Peggy's hands. I was also in to amateur photography and so I've a fair few photos that I took and developed of this bass in use at Fairport gigs in 74 & 75. He was sporting a deerstalker hat, bushy black beard and passively smoking Swarb's non-stop ciggies.

With the (very, very soon to go live) www.bassgear.co.uk site, there is going to be a kind of magazine content side to it (contributors welcome). All the owners of the 'boutique' brands that we'll be stocking* have agreed to be interviewed, and the first of these is Jimmy Coppolo. This is an invitation for Basschatter's to think about what you would ask him. If you think of something, please add it to this thread in the next couple of days. It's not that I'm short of things to ask, it's just that users and admirers often think of more worthy things to ask, which is often refreshing for the interviewee. Of course, Jimmy will answer your direct questions by email anyway, but this could save him a lot of bother! I'll then put them in to the interview. Thanks, Phil *Alleva Coppolo, Bag End, Fodera, Purple Chili, Shuker, Zon ,etc.

When Jon and I spec'd out this build, he suggested the soon to be launched John East P-Retro be fitted. The review of this pre-amp in the latest BGM has made me want this even more. Whilst we STILL await EMG to deliver the white 5-string pick-up, I was interested in hearing the recording samples the review refers to on BGM's website. So far, I haven't located these samples on their site, but if anyone does ...please let me know!

Good to see that you are proud enough to share the news with us Urb.

No pick up yet. Still waiting. Meanwhile, the head has been painted to match the body.

Not sure I'm contributing much here, but to answer the OP I use an all valve head but in the car is a wee Shuttle 6.0. And in the gig bag is a sansamp. I do take a spare bass guitar, and usually use it for any numbers requiring a different feel/tone. If the cab fails? It has never happened to me in 35 years of gigging, but the sansamp will go through the P.A.

We now can't make it that night. Happy to sell at the price they cost us or exchange for another Crowdies gig in the north on another night. It should be a cracker, as it's Neil's birthday that day and the second night at the Apollo, so they'll be well relaxed. With all those dodgy surcharges they add on these days, the total price for the pair was £83.25. Mind you, there's a pair on evilbay for the same gig for £199!

I just love this track. Bought it on a 45 when I had long hair. Some how, I thought I was the only one this side of Detroit who grew up with it and 'digged' it. Maybe I should go out more?
I sold my VBA to a mate and went to watch him play at a pub gig using it. The sound just filled the room without getting in the way of anything else, and punched through the mix.
Interested to hear you say that Pete. I usually use a Shuttle 6.0 but recently I gigged an old school valve amp with two of my bands. Both band's guitarists separately expressed delight, with one commenting that whereas the Shuttle could be heard, (a bit too "in your face" as he put it) with the valve amp he said I "could be felt as well as heard". It just seems to fill out so much and in a benign sort of way.
