1. Is replacing the power supply a problem or would it feed off a pedal board daisy chain? In my bits and pieces draw I have a Fender Jazz bass bridge pickup I could P/EX.
2. If I didn't already have one, I'd be up for it. They are a real grown-up bass and one day I'd like a 4 and a 6 string SR to get the set.
3.
Hi all, I looking to buy a 5 string bass, my only concern is String spacing. I have large hand and this seems to make my playing a bit clumsy when playing a 5 string. Currently using a Warwick Corvette Standard but just can’t the same feeling as when I play my 4 string Warwick? Q1. What bass have wide neck but still have that good sound? Q2.Is there any good second hand bass shop anywhere that I could check out. Gee
You probably need the 19mmm spacing of a precision. What's your budget? I can suggest an Indie Swamp 5 for £615 new or half that used. Going up in budget a Fender Precision 5, or a bit more still and do what I've done, which is to get one made (in my case a P5 by Jon Shuker)
4. I've been curiously wondering about outboard pre-amps, which then led me to wondering if there were any light weight power amps that I could couple up with. Then I thought that maybe my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 could act as a power amp by plugging the lead coming out of an outboard pre-amp in to the 'receive' of the effects loop on the amp, thus bypassing the Shuttle's EQ. Or am I talking twaddle?
5.
Knees bend, arms stretch, ra ra ra!
Actually Doc, With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, It is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at the age of 84. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.
6. Top guy with top taste. We did a bass guitar trade and met up to exchange, which made it all the more human and happy.
7. For £16k I think the 82-word description of the instrument and its provenance is a bit brief.
8. Has the Big One Plus arrived yet? Is it any taller than the standard Big One? Looking forward to a review!
9. Now traded, subject to handover happening this weekend.
10. If I'm not too blissed out from the previous Sunday's Bass Day in Manchester, I intend to drive up from Harrogate to the Geordie Bass Bash
11. A seriously tasty bass. If I may ask, how come is it no longer your first love?
12. I have restored the DR HiBeams back on this now. They have hardly been used. Got noodling with it after re-stringing and started to think I'd be mad to sell. So if it doesn't sell I'll have an overdraft problem but a damn nice bass to compensate for it.
13. Ahh. Seen this thread too late. I was going to suggest a new build with Warmoth parts. Those Sandberg Californias are a bit of a turn on though.
14. Purchased my Eden D115, and the handover and chat sweetened my loss.
15. Hey Simon (Old Git) "Basschat Shuker Custom Precision 5 String club member # 1" Jon's making me a P-5 like the Simon Rix, so save me a place in your club! (Ooops, sorry Retroman, hi-jacking your thread. Please excuse!)
16.
Is this the one MrWalker used to have?
The very same! Could be pining for the fjords!
17. Bump for my 35" scale beauty
18. Sounds like a well organised and well appreciated day. I'm so pleased for you all that participated.
19. Nice Jazz. My '96 Standard V hasn't got as nice tuners as those. I bet yours has a great sound and feel!
20. Do you do any numbers from the 1976 album "Time and Again"?
21.
Schroeder 1212L and 1515L- why have one when you can have two- very light and fit in the boot of my car easy- any one can be used on its own but together.....................Massive. Picking them up- the 2 x15 is lighter than the 1212L- feels like a cab without speakers fitted. Bob
The 1515L sounds intriguing. Do let me know if you're gigging around the Leeds/Harrogate way...I'd love to try a bit of weightlifting!
22. Nevermind "money no object" it's who the heck moves it and how? Let's face it, us older members of this community would all have old-school stacks if we didn't have to shunt them ourselves. FWIW, in the lottery dream sequence, I'd be down to Bass Direct for some Bergantino bliss.
