1.
Only vid I could find of the Traben was this 5 string version:
They do it in a 5? You really shouldn't have pointed that out. Oh no.
2. Love that fretboard Jamie. Hope you keep it wire-less (or sell it to someone who wants a darn good fretless).
3. Wow! Are you going to wear the boots, shades, hat & glitter too? I just can't see this looking right, draped round anyone looking 'normal'!
4. I can't believe this is so cheap! I first saw a Jerzy Drozd this time last year on holiday. I took this pic in Majorca.
5. I'd like to know more about the Fender Jazz Bass ...it's history and the models and such. I've googled and there seems a few to choose from. Can anyone please recommend a good 'un?
6. I'm now sorted for a fretless sixer, so this has turned in to a sale only thread. I'm looking for around £1050, and I'll include a hard case for the benefit of posting. About the only thing I'm GAS'ing for is a five string electro-acoustic, so will P/EX in the unlikely event of you having one to trade.
7.
And how do you get your grass to be so green?
It's because it's on the other side.
8. Friendly Friday bump
9. The value I put on this beauty is that which I acquired it for...£1050. I'll swap for cash or a nice fretless 5 or 6.
10. I've recently put D'addario flats on my fretless Jazz, and they are really nice ...not expensive either.
11. You've not given up then Al? Or have I missed another thread?
12. Looks nice, but I've never heard of this maker Finch Custom Bass on ebay Can anyone shed some light?
13.
Would you consider selling it? Perhaps it would be easier for you and make more people happy? Like me?
Er ...yes, I guess I could sell it! Interestingly, a couple of the offers received so far are from folk with nice basses that were hitherto not on the market, so the trading option does have its benefits. Curiously, no 5-string fretless offered yet. I am seriously considering ALL offers so far, and I hope folk can just be a little patient with me, as I check out the specs and the luthiers concerned. I've learned a lot already! Thanks. Phil
14. Bit more info: I had this given a set-up by Jim Fleeting. Strings on it are DR Hi Beams. The sound range is vast. This clip (thank you Molan) shows the maker on one of his Level 5's but it is a good demo of how the range is wide. A couple of very interesting offers, so far, but keep 'em coming!
15. With the Spector gone, this thread has now been superceded by this one in search of a swap for a fretless
16. I made the buying decision to acquire this beautiful six string some months a go but in that time I’ve decided to keep to fretted five-strings for live work. I don’t do enough studio work, where this bass would probably be at its finest. I do need a fretless for some songs in the set, but am finding that using my fretless four-string a bit odd, so I’m looking to trade this for a quality fretless five or six. There’s a tiny ding on the front above the neck pick-up, but it’s not lost any varnish or paintwork. I have no hard case for it, though I’m on the look out for a used one. Here’s a previous review of the actual bass itself. http://www.talkbass.com/reviews/showproduc...uct/1008/cat/13
17.
Any more pics of the MPG? I am such a sucker for blue basses!
No kidding, this is the most difficult bass I've ever attempted to capture in photographs. But here's my efforts taken in the last hour...
18. I've recently got a '96 black one of these. I can't believe how smitten I am. I'd forgotton about that fender sound, and these USA models feel 'old' in a way that an old pair of slippers do! Good luck with the sale.
19. Bump for one of the best basses to be found on sale in this wonderful community. Being sold by one of the best 'chatters' too.
20. As a 70s schoolboy, I started on Kay and other copies. Then I went to work and got a 4001 on HP, then a Precision (brand new £275) and another 4001 and a Jazz somewhere a long the line. I then ended the 70s with a new Aria SB700. There was choice, though not so much as now. I recall the choices included Gibson Rippers and Hayman & Shergold, as well as Guild. HH combo, 1x18 reflex bin (ooh my back) and Peavey amps too. IMHO the biggest changes have been in the electronics of PAs and backline gear, rather than the bass guitars themselves. Desks, slaves, speaker enclosures etc. are all so tiny now!
21. Yes, he's on holiday for two weeks.
22.
Still selling the MPG though Phil? If so then have a bump on me as it really is rather lovely
Thanks for the bump. Now the Euro has a nice new daddy, I'm back in the black. I'll happily hold on to the MPG but if I get the GAS for anything, I may have to sell it.
23.
Bolleaux! BB
Is that a maker or an exclamation? Boy, I've got some research ahead of me. (Balances that "wish I hadn't asked" thought with "wow, I'm gonna learn so much googling these weird names")
