1.
Mmmm - I don't think my Ibanez RD605 can be called a temptation...........but you never know!! G.
I've never had an Ibby before, and yours looks nice Geoff. Let's take a view in four days when the ebay auction ends (or I sell it here). Thanks.
 2.
Is this the bass that ended on eBay in the last 24 hours? I was eyeing it up but it's too fat a bass for my skinny ass. Would be a great budget addition to anyone's collection I think.
It is on the bay, but not ended yet see here

 4.
I always used to prefer 4's & for fast technical playing still do, but I can't really vote on the poll, as these days I use 4, 5 & 6 almost equally. Different quantities of strings for different jobs. Rich.
+1. I have the same 'horses for courses' tool box. Actually, the poll would be very interesting if you had to select which you LEAST use. In my case, that would be '4'.
 5.
4 for me, and short scale at that. The few 5s I've tried have been too physically demanding. I haven't got particularly small hands but I've spent too many years playing the guitar, and don't want any physical restrictions inhibiting me musically. And I don't see any real need to go lower than E, or higher than I can with 4 strings. Call me a philistine!
Philistine! Buy my Yamaha 5-string Martin. It's only a 34" ...free delivery 'n all
 6.
Is it still sale only? G.
Yes, I need the dosh to go towards my latest acquisition, but... temptations can be dangled
 7. Bump up the volume ...may need to go on relist on the bay soon.
 8. It is a fine bass, no doubt. The vendor looks an experienced seller (lots of other guitars being sold by him), but it beats me why a premium instrument isn't given a decent picture gallery.
 9.
If you're coming back to bass you might not be that used to 4 strings anyway, so why not just go straight into 5? If you don't play a lot of 4 and 5, it can be confusing when you switch from one to the other.
+1 A starter/re-starter has the advantage in getting to know a five string afresh. And personally, I think it's worth it to go for the fiver. I've played 4 strings exclusively for 35 years and gone to 5's and 6's in the last year, and can't see myself going back.
 10.
I have some old photos somewhere. i'll try scan some if anyone's remotely interested.
Scan away. These posts are facinating, inspiring and humbling.
 11.
Phil, have you got a ball park figure? i have a band mate who i am trying to make buy a decent amp set up, this could do the trick.
Well my rusty friend, I'd be after something north of the £300 I paid for it, due to moving it 227 miles and investing in the cover and a set of castors.
 12.
How about everyone clubs together and does a sort of timeshare bass purchase? Could work!
Time Share on top notch basses ...I like it!
 13. I grew up in the 60's, bopping at family parties to the Dave Clark Five, The Beatles and The Hollies etc., but I am aware that there are a few Basschatter's who were actually there, who eventually wore out their welcome with a random precision, doing the back beat with WEM amps and flat wounds, or who miraculously morphed in to the 70's and onwards. Reveal your proud selves and share with us your wondrous stories. ...So come on you targets for faraway laughter, come on you strangers, you legends, you martyrs, and shine!
 14. Damn. I thought of that "Third Time Lucky" name too, then found I'd been beaten to it. Mind you, "Wired For Sound" could be appropriate
 15. Bump-up-a-lu-la she's my baby ...but she could be yours to neck with
 16. I got it straight away. But just to prove I'm not omniscient, I thought that the "Alan Shearer returns" story was an April fool too.
 17. Now gone from a Feeler to a For Sale New thread here with pics
 18. Here's some pics...
 19.
They are fun to play, although the tuning takes some getting used to. Here's mine, a Weber longhorn:
That looks nice ...and old. Not seen a shape like that before.
 20.
To those who appreciate great music and some killer bass lines, I've just received my latest Sage newsletter and see that my all time favourites, American legendary band Little Feat are on at the Sage in Gateshead on May 11th. Should NOT be missed.
I'm up for that. Had a ticket for last tour but was crook and didn't make it.
 21. Now set up nicely with some roundwounds, and still for sale.
 22. I got this with the intention to defret. Now I've gone and got the GAS for a top-end sixer, and I've got to muster up some funds. This 'good as new' 2006 model Hohner B Bass 6 has a 34”, 24 fret rosewood fingerboard on a thru-body neck. 5 piece maple and walnut body, which has a natural satin finish with “Black Chrome” hardware. EMG Select Humbucker Pickups, each with their own volume control, with a stacked Treble and Bass boost/cut control, and a two way switch for active or passive playing using an adjustable preamp. Fully adjustable bridge cast in black chrome, and a set of Hip-shot Y type Open Back tuners, also cast in black chrome. It has a calm grace about it and I find the neck very slim and effortless to move around. If you are interested in adding a sixer for the first time, this is a great one to start on. The Korean build quality is of a very high standard. Ideally, I'd prefer a physical handover. I do get down to London now and then, so if you can't make it to Yorkshire, then a rendezvous may be arrangeable elsewhere. Pics here... 23. Would you be interested in a trade for a six-string bass by any chance?
