1. I have had one for about 6 months, at first there was a certain amount of electric noise with each note, but i think this may be down to the cable supplied, I use my own jack to jack for the receiver to amp, and I got a cable from OBBM for £20 and I love it now! Great tone, and the models are all usable, although I don't bother! battery life is good too!
2.
PM'd
If he doesn't want the two, i'll gladly pay postage for the used one!
3. I'd be interested if you decide to post..
4.
' post='493120' date='May 20 2009, 11:29 AM'] Watch out for the USB version - the old MultiMix USB will ONLY send the stereo mixdown channel to the machine,
mine only does the mix! Its soo annoying!
5. I think their mostly all the same, but the cheapest i found was wilkos if thats any help!
6.
looks phenominal, hows it feel
Thanks! It feels great, action is good, but the neck is really chunky, but once your used to it its really nice!
7. I thought it was about time to get some shots of most of my basses up here, enjoy! My first bass was an encore pk40 sunburst p copy, which I sadly, have no pictures of Next came the Cort GB74, a lovely active bass for around £250 - Bargain! Next up was the Stingray, got this about a year ago, and still loving it! - Awsome I also have a cheapy acoustic bass (£25!) but no photos of that! Finally (for now) is the bass i've been working on for the last 8 or 9 months, 5 string, fretless, through-neck - built completley from scratch! All these go through my trusty hartke VX2515
8.
Well done, looks like it turned out very nice indeed! I voted A. I dont like single cuts as a rule, but it was the most original (if slightly ESP looking) of the designs and having recently tried Warwickhunt's Bolin single cut, I was minded to go with this choice. B reminded me of an SEI and C reminded me of an Overwater. What's the finished bass like to play then, I imagine that with that extended top horn the balance will be pretty good, and how would you describe the tone?
Thanks! the tone is a cross between jaco, and something fatter and bassier, phat like a double bass, but punchy like jaco, it turned out uch btter than i thought it would! iv'e been playing it all night and still getting used to the fretlessness!
9. By the way, That control cover is slightly see-through, its not a reflection of the grass!
10.
Well done! Looks pretty good - nice woods, unobtrusive finish and an unusual headstock design which goes well with the body - looks like flames or something. If I had to give any criticisms I'd say that a little more contouring might be good, it's a little too slab like in the body at the moment. Also it might be good to shape the heel to follow the body shape curve rather than the uncompromising straight across thing which is there.
Thanks, this is exactly the sort of thing im after!
11. Right, the bass is now FINISHED! here it is! To help me get the maximum marks in my project i need some opinions... to if you have a moment to write a little comment, that would be great! I'm really after stuff like quality of finish, possible retail price etc, but whatever you can put down would be great! Please tell me what you think!
12. lots more done... (I should add that this this is the first time i have ever used most woodworking tools, let alone made a bass before, so lots being learnt along the way.) neck shaping... shaping the fretboard... layed out.. (these build diarys make it seem soo much faster than it actually is ) glued... started chiselling the pick up cavities on a test piece, the the real thing.. a pic of me in action here it is so far..
13.
Are you using a high end Jazz and an EBS head (HD350/TD650) ? Pretty standard tone from that combination. Sure the DI is post eq on that recording. Not my thing musically but can appreciate what she does, and she nails it.
noo stringray and a harkte head!
14. I love the tone! i know its mostly in the fingers, but any ideas to help achieve that on my graphic eq?
15.
I believe its some plastic being cast over wood for when he was experimenting with it, well im pretty sure in the first one, im lost by the second i just assume Nice thread by the way
yup, thats right, in the first im experimenting with the cast plastic (in a mold) into some sapele, In the second, i was casting into a vacuum formed mold i made, so i could just have the cast (not on any wood) to see if it would flex at all. unfortunately, i couldn't get the finish hard enough!
16. lots more done now... I experimented for a while, with casting a plastic fret board, but I couldnt achive hard enough finish... so i decided to go for an ebony board.. (pictured with trussrod on top.) truss rod slot routed (alot being learned from my first build!) + a pic of the chamfer on the fret board... more in a bit...
17. Hi, I need to buy a trussrod for a project bass, i need it as soon as possable, and with no minimum order value so stewmac and thomann are out! Any ideas!
18. Nice, i'd love to do this someday!
19. I have a distinction at grade 7 standard, and i have my grade 8 on sunday. What exam board are you doing? Im doing rock school, but to be honest, i find it alot easier than I found my associated board grade 8 pieces for trombone! The theory side of things, and the scales and aural tests are barley covered in rockschool, compared with my experiences on the trombone at least!
20. I am a 17 year old, grade 8 qualified bassist based in south wales, Looking to teach beginners or intermediate players, lessons on: music reading and theory, techniques, including fingerstyle, slap, tapping, harmonics etc.., basic improvisation and walking basslines I am also glad to teach the rockschool board of bass exams, up to grade 6 standard. Email - [email protected]
21.
Offset?
Hehe thats fitting, as its also the name of my band ( Link! )
22. more progress made, timber for body.. Planed.. Neck woods glued up.. Body cut out roughly.. All laid out (body shape still not perfect!) you cant really see the flame of the sycamore in these pics, but is is fairly prominent in real life! Truss rod channel, then neck tapering to do next!
23. The body wings are lovely flamed sycamore, and the neck is a 3 piece sapele/maple/sapele laminate it will be a fretless 5 string, and hopefully have some sort of unusual fretboard like this vigier guitar.. it will have 2 jazz style pickups, wired vol/vol/tone (probably) If i have time, i will also try and fit LED side dots.
24. In the end, i went for design B, as it won the majority of the vote, I have now made a full size mdf model of the complete bass, and have started work on the real thing, Pics soon!
25.
PM'd. Nige
Thanks, should be sorted now!
