Hi guys Please help I’ve Just joined my first band at the age of 53 😊. I need to buy a gigging combo for pubs, village halls, small function rooms etc. The band plays pop, disco and soul covers and comprises of drums, keys, guitar, vocals and a couple of brass. Im looking for a warm clean combo with enough power to handle the above venues, I mainly play finger style and i’m not a slapper (only at weekends!!) Budget, under £700. Please guide me in the right direction as I haven’t a clue, only played on a 50w amp before!! Thanks in advance

Hi, no I only have a practice amp for my 4 string so I’m looking to upgrade really.

I went into my local music store today to have a play of some budget 5 strings. I have to say this is not the first time I’ve considered the 5 route. My problem is, when I’ve tried budget 5 strings before the b string in the shop has always sounded lower in volume in comparison to the other strings. Now, when I go to my local shop I’m kind of at the mercy as to what amp they plug it into. Today, I tried 3 sub rays, a squier jazz and a Ibanez but they were plugged in an EBS 500w 2x10 combo. I have to say I just couldn’t believe how great these basses sounded, with the b only slightly week on the Squier. The rays sounded fantastic. I can’t possibly have a 500w 2x10 EBS in my house. My question is what kind of amp for home use, ie wattage and driver size would be good to replicate a good b string sound. My budget will be around £200-£300 for an amp? Thanks guys

Hi Guys, I'm coming back to bass after a little time away and would like some advice I need a practice type amp for bedroom levels. My question is, what wattage/power/speaker size or any other contributing factor do I need to look at when purchasing an amp to get a good sound from an extended range bass? Any advice would be greatly appreciated 👍

I would like know, if possible what bass was used on the recording of He's The Greatest Dancer. I find it difficult to differentiate types of basses within the mix. Thanks in advance
