1.
Thanks to GrammeFriday's reminder about this event, I'll be there. And to play his AG5 again (if he doesn't mind), that's an insane bass.
Excellent, 72deluxe - the AG5 is already looking forward to getting another good slapping and tapping from your good self.
2. Most evocative for me are Judie Tzuke's 'Stay With Me Till Dawn' for end of disco snogging, and EBTG's 'Eden' LP for the full works. Girly or what?!
3.
The song You Suffer by Napalm Death. Sometimes we would even go so long that we could play it twice!
4. Oh my. I have the (comparatively) cheap and cheerful Kingston version of this, and it is fantastic, so goodness knows how good this must be. 'Stratospheric' would be my guess. GLWTS!
5. Love it! If only it were a 5 ...
6.
They are a mixed bag reading on talkbass, some have come in over 9lbs apparently but I would say mine is just over 8lbs. When i am sitting down there is some neck dive but I come to expect that with a lot of light fender instruments, even my old american standard Jazz 4 had some dive when on my knee. With the squier it is minimal and on the strap it isnt an issue, I use a nice wide Mono strap and it doesnt move unless I want it to.
Thanks, NJE - although of course in reporting this you've gone and put me in exactly in the same position as others in this thread, i.e. very quickly running out of reasons not to get one! Waah!
7. Inselaffe greetings!
8.
... , plus it is very light.
Glad to hear you're enjoying it! I've heard from quite a few sources that these are light basses, but also that they tend to have a bit of neck dive as a result. Is this something you've noticed with yours?
9. If poss always get a fretless that is the same make and model as your main fretted bass. Muscle memory and all that.
10. Sandbergs in general, and a Basic Ken Taylor 5 and a VM5 in particular. Loved my TM4 fretless and only sold it cos I don't play 4 stringers any more. Will definitely be filling a Sandberg-sized hole in my bass playing life at some point this year. Will need to sell some stuff first, mind ...
11. Hell yes! Looking forward to catching up with new friends and seeing Jabba's new self-builds already. Will there be lots of nice cake again? 1. 12. Always wanted to close a set with a rousing rendition of Sonic Youth's 'Youth Against Fascism', but it's never going to happen in the covers band I'm in at the moment, alas.
13. It's not a standard colour but not exactly discontinued either - there is no such thing as 'discontinued' for Sandberg as they will do any colour you like as a custom option. Anyway, lovely bass, and lovely colour - GLWTS!
14. I have exactly the same rig as Bobthedog (RH750 sitting on top of an RS210 sitting on top of an RS112) and have gigged it plenty with my covers band, and it gets two thumbs up here - the vertical stacking thing really delivers. Huge low end from the 212 on the floor, bags of clarity and detail at ear level from the 210, and serious punch from both cabs. And it is bonkers loud.
15. Absolutely gorgeous bass; love that bubinga top. Abalone dot inlays, too, if I'm not mistaken - mmmm, nice. Was it a custom order or off the shelf? I've currently got major GAS for the six-string version of this currently on sale at Bass Direct (http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_Bullet_Special_6_Bubinga.html) - and this isn't helping at all!
16. These are active AND passive - the volume knob is a push-pull active/passive switch.
17. If it were a fiver it would already be mine by now. Fabulous instrument!
18. I put some Labellas on my Ray5 a few months ago, just out of curiosity. Meh! Took them off the same day and put the EB slinkys back on. What on earth was I thinking?!
19. HTH C'mon 4 string players, snap up this beauty!
20. Dammit! So close, but yet so far ... A blueburst Basic is right at the top of my GAS list, but it would need to have 5 strings, so sadly all I can offer you is a free bump and a hearty GLWTS. (PS I know Basics are fairly lightweight basses, but ... 1kg? Might that be a typo, there?)
21. Ooo luvverly - congrats! Marley Blue, yes? Fab colour, goes perfect with maple fb and white pg & pup covers. Immaculate taste, sir!
22.
The neck is maple and ebony the body looks like ash with maple burl top.
If you look in the case you should find a letter from Mr T saying exactly what wood combo this one is. (Whatever it is, it will be a spectacular instrument.)
23. Yeah, admittedly it wasn't a very scientific analysis - small sample size = dodgy stats!
24. ... in which case the OP still has nothing to worry about.
25. PS @Old Horse Murphy - good to see you decided not to replace the black peace sign guard with a tort one after all!
