Welcome to the club! I 've tried most things over the years, and ALWAYS gone back to a P.

I'm breaking the 'bitsa'. First up is the whole control plate. Wired with S1 push and pull pot. Had it wired professionally in USA, using top quality components. Chrome Jazz plate (Fender) inc screws. All black knobs. All in at £40 inc UK postage. Bargain! Other parts to follow, ask if you need anything.....all genuine Fender Jazz parts, and Badass 2 to go.
For what it's worth that is a great looking bass and I'd leave it a while see if someone fancies it. Incidentally what is that between the bridge PUP in the middle? (Gold Coloured strip???)
It's the grounding strip on the Custom shop pickups......very retro!

I put together a Jazz using genuine Fender parts recently. It's a great bass but the Jazz is not for me. I'm staying with my 'P'. I want to sell for maximum return (it cost lots). Am I best to sell as a whole or will I get better return on selling the parts seperately? specs are: Fender MIJ 62 RI rosewood neck Fender MIM body Fender Reissue reverse tuners Fender custom shop pups Badass 2 bridge S1 switching Hard case

I went through the same thought process a while ago. Went for black in the end. Very happy!
No, ABM's are now made in China,
And have been for a few years I think? Heres a excerpt from an email received from Martin at Ashdown when I asked about reliability of the Chinese ABM's:- Quote Hi Tony Thanks for your email. With regards the ABM500's since making in China we have not had any issues, I think it appears, some people have an issue with Chinese manufacture that's all..... We have spent years getting our production techniques right out there and I think the quality is easily equal to that of the UK production. Good luck Regards martin Unquote
stop buying stuff in the deluded belief that it helps (plus sell the stuff not being used) and start working hard with what I have
To stop looking for a new rig, and convince myself the one I have is more than adequate!
I would rather play to a crowd of people for nothing than 5 people for £100!
No offence but do you work for free in your day job? If you treat playing as a hobby then fair enough, thats your choice to make and I respect that, but there are too many venues/promotors who think musicians should work for nothing.
When i got to practise the other night(a bit late) the rest of the band were messing about with Maggie may, thats sound good i said, can we do that one then, ok said our guitarist but the bass is all over the place. it sounded more like a challenge than a statement, i have had a listen to the track and it is a bit of a challenge(for me at any rate) and i have it on guitar pro, so its down to a bit of hard work. anyone else play the Rod Stewart song?.
Yeh we do that one. I've adapted the bass line to suit me, cos the original is all over the place...with lots of mistakes if you listen carefully! Great song which always goes down well at gigs.
I really hope that I never get to the point of being in a covers band where I am doing it all for the money and worry about the pay, the day that happens is the day I never play an instrument again.
Ha Ha, we all say that at some point! Now I earn my living playing in a covers band. We have a great time at gigs, and it feels great to be able to earn a living doing something I still love doing after 25 years!
Darn it! It sold on the Bay. MB1 : That's something I've wondered about. Is there a scientific reason to have the 1x15 on the floor? Obviously if Mr. Nimrod does that he'd have his amp in the middle which would look kinda odd.
Scientifically proven to be the best way to achieve the 'trouser flapping effect'

Holiday camps. who plays them and your thoughts
outsider70 replied to dave_bass5's topic in General Discussion
I spend the summer months playing in the camps, we have a great time! Normally do 3-4 in a row and then return home until the next weekend! I treat it as a job, and try to stay out of the way backstage cos theres too many hyper kids running riot, and too many moody star struck entertaiment staff!! Through the winter months we do the WMC stuff, not half as much fun. Roll on summer!!
