Spending that cruiseship money I see Sounds great though man!

Paying for tickets off a promoter is ridiculous. I've played a show before and was given 50 tickets to sell for a minimum of £5 (£8 written on the ticket) from this the band got £1 per ticket and the rest to the promoter. I know the venue well and know its £100 to hire on a week night with sound guy. This meant that the promoter would get about £200 per band, with 6 bands on thats a fair old profit and obviously the money the band gets paid is the pound per ticket. It's a win/win situation for a promoter. They get paid & it looks like they're popular to the venues. on the counter part, as much as its the promoters job to get people in the venue & sell tickets, it's also your responsibility to build up a fan base and bring in your own punters.

[/quote] Yeah Hepburn was on kit. Well for the most part, Cliff Richard swapped them out for his own band. Obviously Stevie had his own bad with the amazingly gifted Nate Watts.

He's Gary Barlows first call guy, thist is why he was on this show & the comic relief one early on the year as both were 'organised' by Gary. As far as I can tell its the Take That band. Great player!

Ok guys, I've been touring with my Reidmar & classic cabs for the past 3 weeks so i thought i'd come back and leave some feedback about how it's getting on in larger venues. Every show has full FOH so the Reidmar is essentially mine & the bands bass monitor as wedges never give enough bass back to you. The good points: This thing still blows me away every single show, i've never had to have the volume past 9 o'clock & gain past 12. And this is for the entire band to hear the bass properly. Most venues it doesn't even get to 9 o'clock before its too loud. The tone is to die for, from hi-fi modern tones, to old school thumps. This thing can do it. The bad points: Just two little niggles at the moment for me but it's not the Reidmar's fault, the damn thing keeps vibrating almost off the cabs when the bass is being pushed. Anyone got any tips for this? The second is the 1x10 cabinet. Again when the bass is being pushed, the fabric grill begins to flap and hit the wooden frame in which it's attached to. Not entirely sure what to do about this yet, i've taken the plastic classic line logo off from the bottom right hand corner as it would click against the frame.

[/quote] it wouldn't be cynical at all but as the laptop has to be there anyway it's a lot easier to see the laptop screen when the light engineer decides to black out before the next tune. As for the Moog, i'm playing for a Michael Jackson tribute tour, use it on 10 tracks. it only came thursday morning, managed to get 4 patches created before show time thursday night & last night. Then used the oscillators to do hand adjustments during the show per tune. Going to spend the weekend sorting out the rest.

[/quote] iPad has charts on it, MacBook has set list & patch numbers on it but I primarily there as a back up for the sampling & click track on mainstage incase the drummers fails. My point was that if you've only it 15 minutes, using this technique you can get real work done. The op asked about people's practice routine do I offered a suggestion for busy people.

Along the top will go, Input A - Input B - Bass DI out - Bass Out - Synth L in - Synth R in - Synth L DI out - Synth R DI out. It's not the most exciting board but it's an essential one for me. EBS Microbass --> Mini Polytune --> Morley Mini Volume --> Micro Thumpinator. The other side is just a stereo volume & stereo DI.

If i lived in Ireland i would buy that in a heart beat. I was there last weekend just up the road, gutted i didn't know about this. If anyones visiting Ireland anytime soon up north let me know and maybe we could sort something

Have a look at snare drum pattern tuition books and practice with a metronome. Drum machines have too much going on in them that you can hide behind. Once you get more comfortable starting slowing down the tempos, having a click on just 2 & 4, a click on every first beat of a bar and then 1 click every 4 bars. This forces you to have good time and leaves you with nowhere to hide. Start slowly and don't try too much at once.

Cab wise, i'd personally go for a 410 & 210. So you've got the option for small size, medium sized & large sized rig.

There's a fair old difference in proper practice & playing along to songs on youtube. I try and split my time equally between bass & keyboards at the moment. A lot of people can't get an hour of solid time for practice and i picked up a great technique from a drummer i saw at a masterclass. If you split a circle into segments, you give each section a specific thing to practice be it sight reading, scales & arpeggios, transcribing etc.... You then choose the amount of time the circle represents, say 1 or 2 hours. Meaning each section is worth a certain amount of time, so 4 equal sections would be 15 minutes each for an hour circle. You'd then set a 15 minute timer and get on with one of the segments and as soon as the 15 minutes is up, you stop, even if you haven't finished the exercise and move on to the next. The beauty of this method means at the end of a week, you can physically see what you've practiced, what you haven't done enough of & how much time you've spent doing it. It allows you fit in an hour or 2 in a day without realising it. If you can sit-down and do this concentrated work you will see your playing come on so far without noticing and is much more productive than sitting and noodling along to youtube. Of course if you have songs to learn you can use a similar method to structure the work across the time you have. The biggest rule in this is to stick to the timings and do concentrated practice and not get distracted. Obviously it's easier to draw with pen & paper and just pin it next to you desk, allowing you to set your own practice patterns. Its really great to see what you are doing and what your slumping on.

If your on a mac. iRealB allows to download them from their forums or make your own. Then play back on your Mac, iPhone, iPad etc.. Other than that, i'd use youtube and search for them.
