Slightly off topic but how do you rate the finish on your Siggery? I ask because I have had a reasonably priced quote from Martin to re-finish a body for me. Cheers R.
Hey, I'm sure i replied to your pm that you sent me? The finish is great, its only a gloss but absolutely no sign of overspray and no cracks or lines anywhere. It could be worth giving Molan a pm as he has had this bass ands its 4 string brother so will be able to tell you what the pair were like. Jake

So i've had a lot of questions & enquires about this bass so i thought i'd record a few quick recordings. The playings sloppy but its' a hungover saturday morning so i'll let it fly So, a little bit about the basses electronics. Its currently fitted with a Glockenlang 3 band 9v preamp & each pickup has a 3 way coil selector switch meaning there are lots of pickup variations & sounds to be taken from the bass. It has active & passive modes. So in theory the are 18 different pickup variations to have between active & passive. I've recorded a couple of examples. Anyway, All the clips have been recorded straight into protools with no editing done to them. No compression or EQ. The First 4 clips all have 3 rounds on them using the various pickup selections. Hum-bucking Parallel ----> Single Coil ----> Hum-bucking Series Clip 1 Passive Mode. Both Pickups. Clip 2 Passive Mode. Bridge Pickup. Clip 3 Passive Mode. Neck Pickup Clip 4 Active with a touch of bass boost. Both Pickups Clip 5 The obligatory slap clip Active with some bass & treble boost & mid cut. Both pickups. I could be here all day recording all the possibilities & mixes of pickup coils & eq but hopefully this gives anyone that was interested some kind of idea. Jake

Can't remember if he does it on the DVD but there is a session hendid for Korg demonstrating their new metronome. He goes all the way down to hitting the beat in-between the offbeat. It's worth the watch on YouTube. -
Another quick one. Love the tune & think she's a great artist so expect some more when her album comes out on friday. Jake More transcriptions here.

I think the only 2 bits that i don't like/would personally change. The order of the band members, I'd always put the singers first on it. Seems to make more sense than your current layout. The other is the black & white pictures on the home page. They all look like its YOUR band and everyone else are your band. If it were me, i'd make full use of the twins? and put them as the centre of the attention, as appose to a guy holding a bass. But thats just me The sites great though.

2x10 + 1x15 Epifani or EBS - any experience?
JakeBrownBass replied to smoke's topic in Amps and Cabs
... .... I've been playing for a couple weeks just on my 2x10 Epifani and the TD650 and tonight I noticed that when my amp is on (not just on stand by, but fully on) and the volume is on 0 (zero) I can still hear a distorted buzz coming from the cab (mainly from the horn, but not exclusively) if I pick/pluck a string .... is this normal or have I buggered something up? Epifani 2x10 is 8ohm ... if that's got anything to do with it I know this is not a repair section, but it looks like you guys have played around with the EBS gear and Epifani cabs much more, so I thought I'd ask. ... also, I can't tell the difference at all when I turn the drive nob up .... I could with the 4x10 EBS cab!
Hmm, i run an EBS hd350 into a series 1 UL210 and don't get any buzzing on 0. The only time i get any sort of excess noise is when i've got the tweeter turned up a bit and the amp at about 8 without anything plugged in (just checked) and nothing at all when the tweeters off. -
Go on, spill.
I'm gonna guess 'White Lies". They're the only new band i can see that have been in the number 1 album slot in a while.
Try the Metheny version with Christian McBride on Daytrip. Might help you make sense of it. The Red One
Thanks for that Bilbo, definitely easier to hear whats going on there.

The Red One - Pat Methany & John Scofield Love the tune & love playing it but my god it's a difficult one to get the groove going. So it's a love hate relationship!!

I've had the same with DR's Black Beauties. Had my first set on for well over 6 months and they sounded great, then my last 2 sets i've changed in under 2 months each and at about £45 a set they're not cheap!! I've just strung up with a set of elixirs and hoping for the best after playing a mates bass with 6 month old elixirs.

It's great isn't, I'm always amazed by this picture taken with an iPhone!!
-
erm, ok. you did it first

As much as i can appreciate these mate, most of them are taken from other peoples websites. Why not post their websites on here instead of posting their hard work without any recognition?

Anyone around the north might like to know that Andy Mckee is playing at the Royal Northern College of Music on the 23rd of Feb.
Finished Ce Lo Green's - Forget You. It's on the paper yet, not on Finale, though, if you want, I can scan in tommorow morning, when I'm back at my crib.. I'll keep working on your list (decided to transcribe nearly all songs, just to broaden my transcription library, learn some tunes, and get my 'harmony identification' chops going..)
Kenricks already given him a spot on version of Forget You -
*ahem*... it's a slightly not-so-legal copy of pro tools, as i can't really afford it, it came with a hardware emulator called XVX, which basically allows you to use pro tools with any sound card you like, so i'm using my lexicon lambda.
Why not use pro tools 9?
Great bassist For a good forearm workout give stockholm syndrome a few run throughs Apparently he's done a gig with a broken arm before
Yeh but he did the gig on keyboards. The Streets bassist (forgotten his name) played bass for the show. It was at V festival in 04 i think. I was there I've heard so many muse lines played badly i'm gonna say they're at least a 6.
