2.
You're saying, it matters of opinions (and yes, my opinion is clear- i would choose jazz gig/tour over a commercial pop one), and, then, I am missing something? Could you, please, be kind, tell me exactly, what's missing there..? Something tells me, you just can't get over my opinion, not that 'I'm missing something'..
What your missing is that Jazz is not the be all and end all in music. I'm going to say the only reason players get drawn to jazz is its the only place there chops & musical talent can be truly appreciated but that shouldn't stop them taking other gigs in different musical situations. What your missing is you naivety to think that jazz is the be all & end all in music, and thats a pretty sad thing. Another way to look at all this is compare what Garrison is to the bass world, to what Whitney is to the singing world. Garrison is nothing compared to her if were talking numbers, but both way up there in terms of there skills.
 3.
Speeking of big gigs who's goin to see Jamiroquai and Stevie Wonder this summer in hyde park? Personally i cant wait
I've got passes
 4. Well lets look at other instruments for a minute, Tony Royster Jr has his original stuff that he plays. But he also plays for Jay Z. Lets not forget, Jay Z could have any drummer at the drop of a hat to go on tour with him, to play simple beats. But he chose this guy and tbh i bet Royster loves it even if its not his favourite stuff to play. So one night he go from playing this, And the next night he's playing this. At the end of the day, they are proffesional musicians that just enjoy playing music. Just because YOU would choose a jazz gig with little money over a sell out tour with one of the biggest pop singers of all time is totally matters of opinions. So to take it back to your OP, yes i do think you are missing something.
 5.
So, I suppose, you're calling me a musical snob then? Dude, just shut your mouth, sit back and relax - I don't have any problem with them, they do what they want, in the end, it's all discussion, and it all makes sense to me, I have nothing to argue with. Clear? Musical snob, you see..
Sorry Faithless but almost every post you make is you being a musical snob. This of course is my opinion.
 6. Bela Fleck & the flecktones - Stomping Grounds, No matter what i do my fingers always seem to tie themselves in knots after the first verse!!
 7. Mine was an Aria IGB40, and an Aria AB30
 8.
As they were in stock and I didn't want to hang around for the La Bellas I bought D'Addario Chrome flats, 50-105. One set will go on a bass with regular tuning, the others will be detuned to E# - basses are similar so it should be a decent comparison. I'll report back when I get them back from the set up/clean as to how the detune affects tension etc.
Pretty sure E# is an F, and you really bend E[sup]b[/sup]
 9. Here we go, First bit is chanel A&B, second is just channel B and the last is channel A. Its a Gibson SG with everything flat, and on the middle toggle position. The crap playing is me
 10. I've just tried recording some guitar using mine and to be honest it sounds pretty horrible. I've only got a crappy electro acoustic to hand atm with dead strings so thats not gonna help so i'll go grab a proper guitar and post some recordings up of everything flat.
 11.
That's about it really, i'm relatively GAS free right now. I'll have to take some photos of my rig soon though once my project bass is sorted, it's getting nearer to completion.
Liar!! You can never be GAS free I though i was until i realised i need another berg cab, and i need a 5 string fretless and i need a 6 string just for those extra notes! I'm pretty happy i've not ventured into pedals yet!!
 12.
If there was a prize.... you win. You just do..... and you know why
haha ok, i win But that guy at back, one of the best drummers you'll ever hear and i'm pretty lucky to be able to play with him. He's gonna be massive!!
 13.
SELL BEAUTIFULST LAURUS QUASAR 6 STRING FRETLESS, LIKE NEW, WARM SOUND AND CORPOSO, ALIVE EN ITALY
As per the rules, you have to list a price buddy Also the description is a little vague!
 14.
Yeah, that should work as a test.
All wired up and sounding great, thanks for your help Ordered a new jack and just have to stick playing passive for now!!
 15.
No, you need a stereo jack with tip, ring and sleeve. The spare one connects the battery earth to the rest of the earthing only when the jack is inserted (the mono plug makes the connection between ring and sleeve). You'll need to get a stereo barrel jack socket to replace the mono barrel jack socket you have currently. This is because if you connect the battery earth to the same terminal as the signal earth, the battery will be permanently on. It'll work, but you'll be replacing batteries a lot more often than you'd like. There's a good guide to their replacement (on G&L basses) here: http://www.bassesbyleo.com/jack_replacement.html
Ahh of course, well i'll get one of them sorted now then, but i can wire it to the current one for now just to make sure everythings working??
 16.
Are you looking to retain the mini toggles (which I presume perform some kind of coil switching/tapping function)? If so, just treat the output from those switches as the pickups outputs.
Yeh i was planning on keeping them. think i've got that bit covered. Now on the input jack it shows 3 bands, Ground, - Battery and Output. The one supplied wont fit the bass so planning on keeping the one in it, but this only has connections for tip & ring. How do i go about this, just connect to the same part as the ring?
 17. Hey, My new preamp has come for my bass and its been a long time since i have done anything electrical. The bass is currently passive and looks like this: The preamp looks like this and came with this diagram: The thing thats throwing me is the pickups, I can't seem to determine which wire should be going where!!! help please
 18. oh man if that fretless had been here on payday i'd be knocking on your door. If its still here at the end of the month i will be back with money
 19.
I try and find amps that that are transparant, so I can hear my bass and the way I play it. I also stay away from tweeters as I find they sound artificial.
Ampeg SVT 3 transparent?? Ampegs are on of the least transparent amps out the IME
 20. If were talking about as a band, verse & chorus where were all singing does it
 21.
True although i think if you can afford it there is no reason anybody should feel they have to be a professional in order to have a nice setup.
Thats not what i mean, good quality gear is ime more reliable, plays better & sounds better!
 22.
Hi Martin I went to the ACG site but the photos dont open for me! I am looking for a preamp on a Jazz plate that has the Jack socket fitted for my Aerodyne bass as I dont want to drill anymore holes in it. Regards Will.
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...inished+warmoth here
