1.
Are there supply problems with these? Very few shops list them and I would like to hear them in action too. Who's going to be the first to take the plunge? Hamster
I emailed Ashdown and they are expecting the first shipment mid July which would explain why no one had one yet!
2. From what you are saying i would most definitely look at the Ashdown Classic or ABM heads, great valve overdrive at any volume and being hybrid means you dont have to spend silly amounts revalving. I have used Ashdown for years and would reccomend their stuff highly. Have a look at these; http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/fl...roduct_id/37049 http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/fl...roduct_id/28204
3. For what it sounds like you want you couldnt go wrong getting an Ashdown ABM C210-500 combo and an ABM 115 cab which you can add on for bigger gigs etc. Beautifully big sound.
4.
So rewire a 4x10 so it will run as a single 4x10 or two 2x10s. I've done something like this, only with a 2x10 cab that will run as 2x10 at 4 ohms or 2 1x10 at 8 ohms each.
Yup good idea, the superfly 48 cab does the same thing it has 2 x 4 ohm inputs, so full power into one little cab! So you can take one cab to the gig!
5. James Lomenzo Hyperdrive all the way! Will add loads of grit if needed and works as a damn fine boost too! Get it bought - http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...ive~ID~8587.asp
6. Weird, been using Ashdown for years and never stuggled to get a great sound out of any of my gear. Always big and warm but with definition certainly not muddy.
7. I think in the past Ashdown may have supplied sleeves for people doing the same thing, gotta be worth e mailing them and asking as that would be the ideal solution.
8. No worries, let us know how you get on!
9. The Electric Blue range is great essntially the same as the MAG's but with a bit less power they have compression onboard now as well, brilliant value for money and would definitely cut it for reheasals and smaller gigs.
10.
Not sure if I should have started a whole new topic here so apologies, but I want to get feedback from people who own this specific amp or have played one before. Given that it's only a few quid more (reconditioned model) than an Ashdown EB15-180 it might be worth considering. I was reading reviews on Harmony-Central and they don't seem to be the most reliable. Anyone have any issues with them?
From what ive heard Ashdown had a rough couple of batches a few years back went bang but they obviously worked very hard on sorting it as by all accounts their very good now and I've never had a hint of a problem with any of my Ashdown gear and I know many other players who regulaly gig Ashdown stuff without backup and swear by it. Hope that helps! The MAG range is great value for money by the way, my son has a MAG 2x10 300 combo which sounds lovely!
11. http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/fl...roduct_id/14392 Superb amp and amazing value for money plus has a DI for when you start to play bigger gigs, very useful.
12. These look great, http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.as...labs&ID=204
13.
Think its everything now...although I could definitely be wrong on this.
Yup, they closed the US factory down and sold up, caused quite a stir amongst our US bass playing fraternity.
14.
Went back again today, it was playin in the pantry that changed the sound so much. Given that I tend to play in churches and halls etc. the Ashdown won out when it had some space to breathe. That and the oodles of power it had
So how's being a member of the Ashdown club?
15. I'll chip in with some Ashdown love as normal, http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/fl...roduct_id/36263 Great warm defined sound for fingerstyle and bring the compression in when needed for a few slap passages.
16. Hey there, I use a Jazz as my main bass and you should think Ashdown, I get a serious meaty tone from my rig which may be right up your street. The ABM 500 is ridiculous value for money these days and not all all a burden to carry around; http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...III~ID~8663.asp

Distortions

Cant believe that in a thread this long no one has mentioned the Lomenzo Hyperdrive! Irs a ridiculously superb pedal and there are so many different tones in there from just boosting the clean signal, overdriving nicely and full bore. I liked it so much I bought 2 to have one set as a cruncy boost and one for the OTT moments. I guess with them not being out too long not many people have had a chance to try yet. Best thing of all is that they are only £59 !! Have a look; http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/fl...roduct_id/35483
18. Yup I will agree with Machines, the Ashdown ABM's always make a P sound sweet and would definitely give you your british sound. Im sure with some haggling you could get for around £600, right im off to buy myslef things on 2 yrs interest free too!
19. Pretty sure I read awhile back that Colin used an Ashdown ABM 1x10 combo with the input gain and valve drive way up and volume pretty much flat out which gave the distorted tone. Great tone. Hope this helps!
20.
Has anyone got one of these Little Giant amps yet and if so, any feedback?
Pretty sure they are not out yet?
21. The Ashdown MAG gear is fantastic value for money mate and some people do think its wooly but that is more often than not down to pilot error, The EQ is actually very versatile and whilst its always going to be towards the vintagey side of things you can actually get quite a good pallette of tones. I have never really liked Hartke but I know some players swear by them. Best thing is probably to go and have a sit in a shop and give things a try but the MAG stuff is great - however, if you could stretch to the ABM (their are some silly deals on the outgoing EVO 2's at the moment) then you will not be dissapointed!
22. Anyone else Gassed on one of these babies yet?
23.
AA plywood construction with dado and rabbit joints throughout. Whatever THAT is!! It does come with wheels tho' so its not all bad!
Does it come with two oompaloompa's to wheel it round?
24.
I can not fault your logic phatbass787.
Why thank you Mr Terminator man
25. This setup would be awesome and the prices are just silly! get in there and take advantage! plus the 410 is 4 ohm so you will get the full 575 watts.
