Which extension cab to add to my Ashdown ABM C210T Combo?
phatbass787 replied to sussexbassman's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thanks for all the inputs so far guys - currently 4 : 3 in favour of the 115. I think this highlights my dilemna! Still not sure which one to get. If it helps, I mainly play pop / rock / soul covers. Any other views would be very welcome .......
I think that if youre happy with the sound you have but just need to move a bit more air go for the 210, if you want a bit more booty then the 1x15, its personal preference really and you have to decide what it is you need... -
Maybe worth emailing or phoning Ashdown first and see what they suggest? They're pretty helpful chaps.

Ashdown used to do an ABM 810 combo which was built into a flightcase and you just took the front lid off to use it, was monster
It's about time a few more Little Bastards started making an appearance As in my sig: LB112 now sits atop a ABM Mini 48 with custom grill to match, just waiting for the badge You're gonna love it phatbass787, I reckon the LB112 cab is well suited, personally didn't like the 212 style. Tried a little 210 cab but the 12" has the better voice IMO, the 48s just reinforce & raise the bar, it's a great little setup. Only others I know of is No.8 down the coast a bit with Mike_M & of course Ben's in Chicago! How's things Ben? Cheers, John
The matching mini 48 looks great John, where did you get that done? It matches up really well. Very sweet mini rig!
He does and here's the link to his thread here on Basschat: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=74433&st=40 The only other one I've "seen" is the one I have that came from Winter NAMM. May be the only one in North America right now. Here's a link to a thread I started on TalkBass: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=640748 FYI, Ashdown now has the PDF version of the manual posted on their web site, if you are interested. They have also posted info on the LB cabs. Here is the link to the amp page: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=229 AWESOME amp!! Congrats!!! FYI...no pics, no amp!
Cheers guys, will post pics later hopefully! Had a quick blast last night and was very impressed actually louder than i was expecting and simple old school tone! Think im going to love it, my only worry is that I will end up buying the big bastard(427 smallblock) for big gigs! My wife may go slightly mental ;-)

Ashdown Neo 410? Monstrous power and lots of clarity, far more handling and oompth than the ABM cabs imho and theres some great deals to be had as I believe they are now discontinued...

Gave in to temptation and bought one of the UK made Little Bastards today! Im planning on making a sweet mini rig and will probably get one of the 2x12 or 1x12 cabs to go with it. Havent had chance to plug it in yet but it sure looks beautifully made and oh so sweet. Nice touch having the certificate aswell, mines No. 24. Anyone else in the Little Bastard gang yet? I will report back later when ive have chance to actually play it...

The MAG stuff is great for the money in my mind and as you say having the 2 cabs will certainly give you more flexibility than your current 'fridge', go for it!

opinions on playing ashdown through markbass cabs
phatbass787 replied to gingerfish's topic in Amps and Cabs
Hmm, general concensus seems to be that the Markbass cabs arent great. Have you considered getting either another ABM 210 or an ABM 115 Compact which would mean when running one of those with your existing 210 you'll be running at 4 ohms so get full power from the head plus be moving more air, then you can use both cabs for bigger gigs and just one cab for smaller gigs... Best of both worlds -
Ive still yet to give a BTA 400 a blast which im gagging to do but think one of these will have to go on the list too
-
Wow theres some mega bargains there, tempted very much by the ABM 900 head just because the price is mental and itd be a great backup Hmm...
-
Hmm, sounds interesting and also like it could cost me money, any info on what these amps are?

Havent had chance to try one yet but have you looked at the new Ashdown Valve range? http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/section.asp?section=valve

Oh dear - I feel GAS coming now....
-
wow, very cool! Have to let us know what its like...
Is there anything that's NOT made in china anymore? lol
All the new Valve stuff/Mark King range is UK made as is/was the Klystron range...
-
Wow theyre finally out then! Been wanting to try one of these for ages, want to try one even more now after reading this.

Yes it does seem a bit odd importing the same amps from the US that you build in England, however I think I may have a theory on this that the more I think about it makes sense. If I remember rightly didnt Ashdown have a huge fire in their UK factory last summer? Im pretty sure they did and couldn't build anything there for a few months, therefore I would imagine this amp and probably others were imported by Ashdown from their US factory to keep supply of their high end going whilst they got the factory over here operational again... Do I win a prize?
made by dave green sounds great! i'm assuming that means they're handing the retail to matamp
Dave Green left Matamp 2 or 3 years ago to work for Ashdown/Hayden, Daves designed all the new Hayden gear that seems to be getting raved about and I assume he's behing all the new Ashdown valve stuff

Question ?? is Ashdown EB12 180 watt combo any good ??
phatbass787 replied to geoff916's topic in Amps and Cabs
Great bang for buck. Nice EQ and FX, warm sound and the 12 is quite punchy. -
Hey guys, I need some help here. I have an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro, Ampeg 610HLF and Hartke 1x15 XL. I recently lost my practice space, which means it is all sitting in my garage not being used at all. So since i'm not going to be gigging again untill Aug/September at earliest i feel like i'm wasting this rig in the garage. Should i sell it and get something else perhaps lighter so its easier to carry to a practice space? Or should i just keep it. But in storage for the time being? If anyone has any suggestions for what to go for let me know. I'm seriously not sure what to do And tbh i'd rather not do a combo.
I'd keep it in storage, your only going to have to buy a rig again when you're gigging again... Maybe get a cheap head in the meantime and pair it up with your 1x15 so you have a more compact useable rig?
Did anyone see the half time show of the Superbowl? I knew The Who were playing and as I'd seen the payoffs in Canada (hard to avoid) I thought I'd see it through to the final, especially with the added incentive of the midway show. So what was that that Pino was playing? Definitely a Fender P, but what was going on with the pickups? Any ideas anyone? Also, the Ashdown cab, Pino may have used their heads in the past, but always with Epifani cabs, and recently has only been seen with an SVT rig. Stage dressing? Product placement? I certainly couldn't see any head on display and suspect he went DI for just a half dozen songs or so. Over to you guys.
There were 2 x Ashdown 810's and there was definitely a head on the left one it looked like an Ashdown but not sure. Maybe he's made the switch from Ampeg?
After chasing my Little Bastard order this morning I got this email - "Hi We have just chased this product up for you with Ashdown and have been advised by them that stock of the Ashdown Little Bastard is now not due to April. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused but unfortunately we are in the hands of our suppliers, this is a new product to the market and we have allocated stock on their first shipment. Therefore everyone will be in the same boat as us. Please advise how you would like to proceed with your order." I expect they picked up a few orders at NAMM so we in the UK just have to wait
Seems like a normal amount of time from launch to stores to me... Also I would imagine the UK will get them first, Ashdown pretty much always has its new products out in the UK before anywhere else. I've just ordered one too!

Have you thought about just adding an extension cab? This will mean your amp is giving out its full power(as long as its an 8 ohm cab) and youll get a much bigger spread and more bottom end. I reckon a MAG 210 cab would make a huge difference and wouldnt cost you much
Expensive when compared to Orange and Matamp though, about the same as the "RRP" on the 400+ though you know when you could still buy them.
Which Orange are you comparing against? The AD200 is less than half the power and best price I could see online was £1300...
