Bought a Ricky 4003 from George. Great communication, bass arrived safe & sound, deal with confidence!

I just watched it on the iplayer whilst reading this thread in the foreground. Two things that strike me: How much of the album started out as filer, and I have to say, I can't imagine anyone in this day & age going... "you know that song that sounds a bit like la bambaba... let's do that!" at Abbey Road.
At an audition, they are more likely to be impressed if you make them sound good, rather than too much in the way of bass gymnastics
+1 Turn up on time, have the songs nailed, don't overplay, try & have fun.
This really shows how bad the access to the higher frets on the thunderbird is.
<Warning: gross generalisation approaching> I'm not sure if you're playing a t-bird that access to the upper frets is terribly important to you.
*People not to scale...
I did wonder if I should tidy up a bit more before taking the photos...

I had a trans-white one of these with a maple neck: It was my ultimate P: I'm not sure it fits within the rules of the game though: J pup and active electronics...?

Diamond Dave wants Michael Anthony........
dougal replied to paulconnolly's topic in General Discussion
I much prefer Chickenfoot to VH. I'd prefer him to stay where he was, but I suspect it's about money and time: if he has enough of one and not enough of the other he'll play for them again. -
I've just compared mine to my P-Bass, and I agree with Gelfin - it's more about the way it hangs on the strap. If you compare the photos below, you'll see that the t-birds left shoulder mount point is approx next to the 17th fret, whilst the P has it sitting over the 12th, which means that the neck is pushed out further. You can see that the scale lengths are close enough not to have an impact.

"we MUST NOT use rehearsals to learn songs just polish them" I have this argument with my band the whole time. I'm on the singer's side with this one.

We use joolma: http://www.thecheapshots.net/joomla/ It's not bad, and there are some cool extensions for embedding video and audio.(check out the demo / mp3 page) Each band member has their own login and can post articles when they want. Not that they ever do mind you. It comes free with our hosting package, which we did with godaddy.com, currently advertised at ~£2 a month (but we pay more for it because of the domain name and stuff). Most of our active stuff is done through our facebook page though: www.fb.com/thecheapshots

GONE TRADED GONE TRADED According to the dingwall web-site: Production Date: November 20, 2006 Model: SJ Version Info: n/a Color: 3T Body: n/a Neck: 5PM/MO Weight: 8lb/5oz Markers: n/a Preamp: PASSIVE Options: n/a It's pretty much identical to the current model, except it doesn't have string trees (which I do think it probably needs if you're heavy handed). It's one of the lightest basses I've played I bought this in the USA about 18 months ago; it's a nice bass, it's just not 'the one'. The neck is very narrow and I'm a fan of active electronics. With my strict one-in one-out policy (as enforced by SWMBO) I have to free up some room for some more experimentation. Available for view / purchase either in Woking, Chertsey or Central London. I will happily ship (at buyer's expense) as it comes in a hard case. I will ship to mainland Europe if you ask me nicely. Trades wise I'm only really interested in 4-string Sadowsky / Xotic super-j variants, but try me.

Up for sale is my GS410. Specs are here. I've had this for a number of years, picked up from an ad on here. It's in good condition, the speakers are all in good working order. The carpet covering is a bit tatty. Casters still run straight & true. Local pickup available from TW20. I can ship, but we'll have to negotiate beforehand as it's quite heavy. Sale to fund the purchase of a Mark Bass 102 club :-)

<<SOLD>> Beautiful Carvin XB-75P 5 String Bass
dougal replied to shanelondon's topic in Basses For Sale
Pretty sure this was my old bass (see http://www.carvinmuseum.com/playersgallery/xb75.html - about half way down the page). Bought in the states and imported by me when I moved back. If so it also has the offset neck profile. I can vouch for it's lovely-ness. It also does quite well tuned F#-B-E-A-D (when it left me it had another nut). The last I saw of it I traded for a fretless on here. -
So I was in a guitar centre in Paramus New Jersey, and I spotted this in the 'used' section. Long story short I used to live in the US and had an 8x10 and head & pre & some other stuff to trade, so she came to me, if not for a song, then not feeling too bad. Passive Super J I know nothing about her, except she's canadian, came with an after-burners allen keys & non-original case (which is rubbish...)

My RV5, acquired recently to sate the 5-string GAS. New from guitarguitar. And very nice she is too...
