1.
Don't often see a Squier Katana. Here's one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=220210591058
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's round the corner from my house!!! It had better go for a high price. Then I won't have to buy it.....
2.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=140213130787 I'm not sure this thing is worth the sum total of £65.99, especially with the "modified" (read: broken off...) headstock. If the price totaled £40 i would have bought it.
No collections. Always puts me off.
3. I took it apart again, it's wired as vol, tone, tone. Although the cap was broken off the second tone knob. What would the effect of running one tone control into another be? I'm probably not going to bother fixing it, i'll wire it like an OLP.
4. There's a couple of Aria Pro's on there. I'm not looking anymore, I've bought 8 basses in two weeks.....
5. Any name? His Excellency President for Life Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada VC DSO MC Conqueror of the British Empire CBE OR alternatively, my name is > A flying V would be nice....
6.
Can't speak for the Vintage, but on OLP copies, the pickup is wired as front and back coils with seperate volumes for each and one tone.
It's not that, the second coil wires are neatly wired together. Although, that's a plan.....
7. I picked up a Vintage Stingray, it's got three knobs, and one pickup. I'd assume 1xvol and 1x tone, but what's the third one for? to be honest, apart from the vol, the other two seem to do very little. I briefly had a look at the wiring but nothing jumped out at me....
8. I've got the 20w guitar version in my office that I use for noodling on an 8 string bass when I have break. It's not great. Even with a guitar, the tone is pretty naff. Unfortunately one of my cats used the bottom cab as a scratching post and destroyed the tolex so I can't sell the thing....
9. i had one of those. really nice guitar. I couldn't find any info on them at all when I got it, this is still only the second i've seen. I'm near Milton Keynes, if that had been a faux-maple orange colour I'd have put money on it being my one. Good price.
10.
Well if the FBI monitor us still* I suspect the Ric monitors may, just in case their autosearches on Ebay miss something cunningly worded to not contravene their precious trademarks ... * Way back in the mists of time the FBI shut down the forum that preceded BassChat i don't remember why - it was before my time ...
Was that this: http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=540393
11. Ah, perfect!! My 7 string is being shipped next week, so this will be fun. I've just had a very brief run through on the 4 i've got at work, the first link doesn't sound quite right but I'll play it some more later.
12. Well I've just ordered their doubleneck as well (they were on sale at the weekend - £188) My 7 string should be shipping end of next week.
13.
the few times i played an 8 string it amused me more finding which non 8 string songs sounded good on it, I would guess something like Portrait of Tracey would sound ultra schmexy on an 8
Acoustically at least, Metallica's Four Horsemen didn't sound half bad I'm playing at a short jazz rehearsal on Thursday, I'm going to see how it slots in there.
14. My new 8 string has just arrived, and I've been through Jeremy and Why Go several times, any other songs with prominent 8 string bass lines I can amuse myself with in my lunch break?
15.
Noooooooooooo, nail polish remover is acetone which removes plastics, which in effect ='s the finish on your guitar. The only safe way I've found to remove stickers from modern finishes is to moisten the paper with warm water and carefully scrape off. Then remove the glue with panel wipe (virgin thinners). You can get this from any car spray shop. Do not use meths and don't scrape with a credit card as you will probably scuff your finish. I hope I'm not too late.
Nope, not getting it till Sunday, so it's okay
16. I bought a stingray copy off ebay that was covered in stickers. I've had experience of removing them from scratchplates, but what's the best stuff for getting them off the body itself? It's a cheap bass but I still don't want to scratch it to buggery. My dad is caretaker at a school, so I'm going to ask him if he's got anything that will dissolve glue.
17. How to get the attention of buyers (it got mine) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ALBA-BASS-GUITAR-BLA...1QQcmdZViewItem
18.
Yet another Ebay fraud. I'd ask the seller for a serial number and grass him up if he couldn't provide a plausible one, but recent experience with Ebay has robbed me of the will to live; and frankly, my dear, I can't be arsed.
There's one in the picture, I used it to check the date. The neck at least, is as old as he says.
19. I've just bought an 8 string, so I doubt i'll be getting one this month now. I would say though, that I'm not suprised the Les Paul's have been rubbish, cheap electrics usually are. I've not yet seen a truly bad acoustic.
20. I've had one of those on my watchlist for a while, I intended buying one today (pay day!), but I'm watching a few other auctions first. For £50 I'm not too fussed if it's not great. I initially looked at a black fretless one, but I think I'd prefer one of these.
21.
I posted a bass and it was over £60. What's the problem???
The most shipping I've ever paid was £40 and that was for a valve amp head that weighed the same as a small planet.
22. Is the headstock decal right for that bass? I thought they had "Precision bass" in small under the Fender logo?
23. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Japan-1994-Pr...1QQcmdZViewItem "This is how it left the factory"
24. So hows the build quality? The only concern i have with the seven is the fact that the bridge is a single line tunomatic, no intonation adjustment. I realise that a seven string bridge would add significant cost, and I can't have my cake and eat it.... that I don't think I've ever intonated a bass in my life anyway
25. I had a performer 4 when they did that crazy holoflash finish. Neck was... odd. It was slimmer than what I was used to, but it wasn't bad. The pickups weren't quite as powerful as I was expecting, but the response was nice and consistent, was a nice recording bass.
