Phew...... That really is blu tack?
I didn't believe it eaither till I poked it. It gives a sort of slow volume fade effect. Would be nice if I could control it!
OK blu tack aside..... Is that a pre amp with no battery?
Battery is in a separate cavity
-
I've just taken delivery of a bass off ebay, output faded in and out, thought it was the battery, till I looked in the cavity at the output jack....

Twins!! Two Samick Steve Vai-esque swirl basses. No clue about these at all, I thought the first one I had was unique till I found the second!!
-
Another + for Ibanez, I've got an Ergodyne EDC715 which I usually have to play with pick because it's uncomfortable adjusting my hands to the smaller string spacing.

He's ignored my request for a serial. Is it me, or is that Fender logo from a *guitar*?

If you can pay with Paypal, I wouldn't worry about it.

Possibly dodgy seller advice please!
At the risk of this seeming like a personal vendetta, I'd steer clear of any of those ultra cheap acoustics. They seem to be horribly made, and you're buying one from someone who knows naff all about instruments - 43" bass? That's double bass territory! Oh wait, you mean the overall length - wow, what a useful measurement! I gave mine away - couldn't sell it with a clear conscience!
I've got one of those Swifts, and now I've spent half an hour setting it up, it's a nice enough bass for that sort of money. Did need tweaking though..... -
"i think this is a one off" You don't say....

I'd buy from him if he was a UK seller, but I wouldn't have said it was worth the price plus shipping plus the import tax to bother with, if there's a problem with it you're going to have a hard time sorting it. But that said, this is the first butterfly bass I've seen, and I wanted a purple finished butterfly guitar but my wife banned me from buying it!! (Actually, I wanted to custom build a doubleneck, so it had antenna...) -

cheap ampeg rig on evilbay
do you really need two kidneys? have you ever considered selling one?
Lol, to be honest it's overkill. I have a 120 watt hartke and a 100 watt ashdown at the moment, and I play in my babies room when he's not in it!! I haven't got time for a band anymore..... -

I saw it the other day and cried! I'm in Buckingham with no money -
Just thought I'd note, the green one is relisted at lower price with no proper title: no. 320249959442
Still needs to come down about another £25 before I'd bother. The damage is far too off putting, despite the sellers claims that its "easily paintable" If I had the time I'd buy it to refinish.

I used a pair of pliers (the pincer kind) and then used wood filler and several hours of sanding. Isn't perfect but it does the job. Then I went a bought a real fretless instead There's some pics here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18151 As you can see, I damaged the fretboard around the frets a little, which shows with uneven lines. The neck is still smooth however, it just looks a bit naff.
I do feel very strongly about copies being passed off as the real thing
As do I, especially with things like Squier's and Epiphone's. What gets me about the Ric crowd is the evangelism you see on their forums and that website, the genuine hatred that someone would dare make a copy of their beloved instruments....
I'd be interested to hear from the other Swift owners on here.
Got a fretted one for £30 a little while back. I agree completely with you. Still smells of PVA glue, binding quite thick in place, *very* rough bridge, side markers falling off. However, after a truss rod tweak and a reseating of the bridge (inconsistent piezo output) it sounds really, really good. The preamp is very powerful, and boosting the bass makes the floor shake like non of my electrics do. Acoustically for playing along with CDs it's got enough volume to be heard. You get what you pay for, but for someone who just wants a noodle at home rather than a gigging instrument these are ideal if you don't mind giving them the once over. I got a extra set of strings with mine as well which was nice.
http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdfs/19507.pdf
Oooh interesting. That's a bit different to the one I got from Seymour Duncan. I'll probably replace the pots and do it properly, it can be a bit crackly and occasionally cuts out which I think is the selector - tapping it rectifies the problem Some elephant ear tuners might be nice as well. These ones are a bit slippy. I found this site http://www.joeysbassnotes.com/Joeys%20frameset.htm which has a lengthy article on copy spotting which is quite interesting.
