Total Watts

  1. I use the individual stomp levels to get the sound/feel I want for each patch then use the "total" level to adjust the overall level for each patch relative to the others so they're all where they should be for a set. That leaves the "global" level to set my final output to whatever the sound guy wants. I've taken the B3 DI straight into the desk for the last few gigs, works really well if the monitors are good enough... EDIT to add I deleted all the factory patches the first day I had it - subtle they are not.
  2. I'm saving up for some tasty IEM goodness but in the meantime I'm using ACS ER20s They're about £8 delivered if you buy them online, I can chat between songs without taking them out and my ears don't ring after rehearsal....
  3. I won one of these toolbags in a raffle a few years ago: Properly well made and really tough, awesome for cables and other junk...
  4.
I manage the Weybridge store of Sevenoaks.
What's the "new" audiolab gear like? As good as before? Been meaning to get somewhere and have a listen for ages....
  5.
Stringsdirect are great, but I wish their website was a bit easier to navigate if you don't know exactly what you want... Minor problem though. I suppose it's just because they have such a massive range of strings.
+1 here too - searching and filtering the items on the website doesn't seem to work very well but the service, prices and delivery times are excellent. Only had one problem so far (they sent round strap buttons instead of the oval ones I ordered) but that was rectified quickly.
  6. +1 for Aldi - they have bargain Chinese power tools in there sometimes too. I've bought a drill press, router table and bandsaw from them, quality isn't brilliant but they're more than good enough for hobby or occasional use. Keep an eye on the Thursday and Sunday specials - yesterday they had an arc welder for £40! 7. Originals bands for me, I'm not a fan of the pub-rock-covers thing....
  8.
When I was last in a band (originals) we played gigs for free because we were ermm...ahead of our time, yeah, that's it, we were way ahead of our time , and it was a case of playing for free or not at all. Just being in it for fun, I thought we got quite a good deal actually, as we were always provided with a stage, PA, back-line amps and basic drum kit, and were given the chance to play to a handful of our mates and (sometimes) the other bands on the bill.
Same situation here, choice between playing free or not at all. The only musicians we're taking work from are ones who aren't worth paying...
  9.
Thank you for your participation. You scored 27 out of 30 on the first test and 28 out of 30 on the second test.
Wish I could re-listen to the ones I got wrong though....
  10. I wasn't working today and the missus was out so I spent the morning noodling and jamming to random songs. I tried to record some african-highlife-style basslines but didn't come up with anything worthwhile. Had lunch, geeked about on the net, fetched the kids from school, made dinner then went to jam with a couple of people I've not met before, a singer and a guitar player. It was supposed to be a soul/jazz/hip-hop kind of thing but ended up being mostly weird bluesy funk with occasional dub thrown in. It was a fun evening though, a bit odd not having a drummer but I'm looking forward to playing with them again...

    New Zoom B3
The more emails they receive asking for the update the better!....Lots of people on TalkBass already asking them for it so let's do the same over here.
Emailed them too, I also asked about B3X and B5 versions....
  12. I'm not a massive indie fan. In fact, I don't have a single CD in my collection which I would describe as indie however I still play in an indie band. Would I listen to our songs in my own time if I wasn't in the band? In all honesty, probably not but it gets me out gigging and playing with other musicians and I have a blast doing it.
  13.
Great for sound checking too, as I can walk out front and have a listen myself.
I'm tempted to get one just so I could do this - I'd be able to go to one of our gigs
  14. We're an indie/rock originals 5 piece. Our debut album is nearly finished and we've played a couple of gigs together which went down really well but our drummer has left and we need a replacement so we can get out and gigging properly. We're a friendly bunch, serious but fun, committed but not obsessive, ages range from 29 to 39. Drop me a PM on here or message us on facebook if you can help: https://www.facebook.com/isc.music Cheers
