1. Is that two screw holes between the pickups? Was there a thumrest fitted at some point?
2.
Is this definitely for sale only?
Yes, I'm afraid cash rules at the moment.
3. It looks like I'm going to be unable to hold on to this, so she's back up for sale only. First Shuker I've had, but I don't think it'll be the last.
4. Apologies to those who have already PM'd me, but I'm withdrawing this for the moment to think a little bit more about whether I need a jazz.
5. Top class build quality - ash body, graphite reinforced neck, dual action truss rod and the Villex 4-position passive mid control boost (which surprisingly seems to be pretty useful). Immaculate condition with Shuker (hiscox) case. This is as good as any jazz I've played at any price point. No trades - a straight sale only at £799+shipping
6. This ones being resold on ebay, lest anyone missed it : 700% inflation
7.
They are rare things and not properly understood but having had both fullerton and the later non-fullerton reissues i can vouch for the facts that the fullerton reissues tend to be lighter, more resonant and more carefully contoured. They deserve their reputation but are notoriosuly difficult to identfy/verify - the serial number is an indication but cannot be fully relied on and neither can the pot dates as later non-fullerton reissues will often have fullerton period pots, and you really need to see neck and body dates and markings, ascertain whether there is a router hump, etc Thats not to say that there are not good examples of non-fullerton reissues - i have a 62 reissue which is light and resonant. Confusing eh?
Once you've handled one you can spot an early 80's '57 fullerton reissue a mile off. It's body countouring is unlike any other fender (including the original '57).
8. Withdrawn, no serious interest.
9. Just bought a rather nice jazz from Lesley - an easy hassle free transaction!
10. Don't listen to the voices Chris... Try a foil lined hat - works for me!
11. Peter, what's the string spacing up at the nut end (and the neck width)? Also, how would you describe the neck depth? (I'm still enjoying your old Oly AV '62, but am thinking about giving a 5 stringer a go.)
12.
Thank you. I suspect that TC aren't the only company gilding the lilly
Of course they aren't. The rating for most of the musical instrument class-D amplifiers are at distortion levels in the 10's %, and no bass/guitar amp will be able to be driven continuously at it's rated output. Amps designed for industrial use will usually be rated for continuous operation at their rated power (which itself will be stated at a particular THD). I believe some PA amplifiers also have realistic ratings.
13. Thanks for sharing.
14. Damn that's one ugly bass. It's so horrible I keep visiting the thread to stare at it.
15.
I am listening to the Weather Report live in Offenbach 1978 at the mo. It sounds like music from another planet. In a good way.
Snap. Joe Zawinul really brought out the best of Jaco. Miss them both.
16. Don't slacken the strings, if you do the neck could be damaged due to the unbalanced force exerted by the truss rod.
17. Bump for more photos.
18. Bump for price reduction.
hi can you tell us what the serial number is please also have you got any photos of the bass with the neck and guard off showing the markings in the neck and control and pup cavities, also photos of the neck butt, pots, pups?
Hello Gareth - I'm pressed for time to do a strip down atm, give me a week or two. I can guarantee that it is completely legit though, as I disassembled it and did a thorough check when I bought it. I'm pretty sure neck date is 6/83 but will confirm later. Do you think you've spotted something amiss?
