Did some price research, new price: 400 quid. Here's a link to Bass Direct product page http://www.bassdirec...EA_Doubler.html It's a brilliant, v light weight, powerful little amp. Weighs 2,6 lbs. Mint condition. Much clearer tone than Markbass or other small amps I've tried. I just can't get on with the colouration a lot of amps introduce, so I switched micro amps 'til I got this. Also, brilliant for those of us who bring 2 basses to many gigs, like, upright and electric. And even if you don't, the second input is pretty nice, as the eq points differ a little, so if you gig in different settings, you can choose different eqs for different venues/genres/basses. Now selling as I'm quitting. Lists at 750 quid, was on offer at 625, so 400 shipped seems a fairly good price?

Sold. Overwater Progress Deluxe III 5

Bump for rock tones. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kstynti9awoydld/overwater5_02.mp3 The first part is is pick riff, with changes in eq and pickups. I did not go for extreme + mids, because .. I dunno. I'm not a rock bassist I guess. Then there are a couple of riffs with pick or fingerstyle or both. I did not explore the 'ice pick' tones at all. -
Chris told me he originally built these basses as "Smith tribute" basses.
Right! That explain the pickup placement and voicing. I've never heard a Smith with as much attack and dynamics, though. This is more punchy and aggressive than any Smith I've had. So, in other words, MY dream Smith? Also, updated the trade info - basically, unless your trade offer means I can liquidate your bass very easily, I'm not interested. -

Gone pending: Read Purity valve pre, hand-made

The Quad pre is pretty much the same as Mesa IIc and III preamps in one chassis. You get two different clean and drive channels, so the classic Metallica and Santana tones in the same song? No problem. Peavey Classic has a good rep in guitar circles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hzl9fg29ypo Comes with TC G-major and Engl switcher box and a rocktron midi mate to handle the channel switching. VERY simple to operate. This stuff is installed in a rack, which will be included in the sale (ofc). All units are a little old, but very much functional. Asking 800 quid, shipped.

This Overwater is from the 80's and it's a very well made SG/LP jr. type guitar. I never got used to the Gibsonesque neck profile. Overall, it's the same great quality as overwater basses are. Mahogany body and neck, maple top. Rosewood board. I think the humbuckers should be classified as 'bright modern humbuckers'. Comes with a form-fitted hard case. 10 years old, in great nick - small dings, sure, but I've taken this bass to a luthier every few years, and the fingerboard is VERY well-planed. Stringed with obligatos, quite nice pizz tone. Used this for lots of gigs, usually got compliments for tone. Asking 1700 quid plus shipping. Cost 4500 euro new.

http://www.acmebass.com/#/products My cab of choice for 10 years. Very hi-fi. VERY full bottom. There's very little hype about these cabs, but a lot of word of mouth. I've felt no need whatsoever to switch cabs after getting these. (And if you know how often I change basses...) Shipping can't be included, because these are still speaker cabs, so need to price the shipping before I can do that. Still, it's probably about 70 quid per cab to mainland Europe. The Low B-2's are in good condition, but they have been gigged dozens of times - often, I opted for the small combo for space reasons, and these stayed behind. The Low B-112 has a few chips but was only gigged once. It's more traditionally voiced than the B-2's. But also lighter. B-2's come with Tuki covers. Asking 250 quid for the B-2's, 200 quid for the B-112

VERY powerful 1U power amp. http://www.powersoft...-series/k2.html Not to be confused with the cheaper models. Fits in most rack bags depth-wise. Very clear tone. Listed here for 2699 quid. https://www.djdeals....ls.asp?AID=3063 Mint condition. Asking 2000 quid shipped.

Well, I went ahead and bought the Pope MPP-2. I still think the Read is the best-sounding preamp, but I just need 2 separate inputs. The Read is more 'open' and 'liquid' and '3D' than the Pope. I ordered and received this from Jack when he had the design complete - Purity preamps were very much a work in progress. That having been said, this unit does not have the switching 120/240 VAC PSU edited to add: this unit does only EU electricity! No USA voltage, just the 240 volts we use in Europe. I wrote that confusingly. Normal kettle lead socket in the back, like most amps (and desktop computer PSUs, some kettles, and whatnot) have. . BUT it has audiophile / studio grade component in every spot Jack offered one. Pros: * tone, tone, tone. I've had a Mark Bass LMK, the Glockenklang Bass Art Classic and the Demeter HBP-1, currently use the Mike Pope MPP pre. None of these can beat Read for tone. * it's a small and rugged unit. No printed circuit boards, just professional-grade point-to-point soldering. * thus: easy to service! Cons: * relatively unknown * 1 input * no bass cut in fx loop asking 380 quid shipped.

edited to add actual contribution: just so I'm clear, this is a really good bass. It's got a Roscoe-like neck, B-string, and 'massive attack' That's because it was made for a guy who is really into Roscoes. For those who don't know, Roscoes have the some of the best necks you can have on a six, and a really girthy (is that even a word?), BIG tone. I really hate basses with tiny tone, or 'tiny HUGE tone' - you know how a single piano can be really loud, and the entire string section ... isn't? P-basses have that big BIG tone, none of that tiny HUGE tone nonsense that you can have in a modern bass. So, I've been buying and playing basses with lots of attack and naturally big voice last what, five years? This is one of the best I've had. Are my current sixes better for me? Sure, but they cost me a LOT more than Andy's asking for this. I don't think this bass had the sweetest voice though? So it's more Fodera or Roscoe than Ken Lawrence or Ken Smith, if that makes any sense. And it sure as ship isn't as sizzly and grindy as my MTDs are. (the MTD highs are defo an acquired taste. Youtube has plenty of that stuff for those interested) That reminds me, even tho talking about music is like dancing about architecture, do we have a 'generalities about boutique basses' thread here? We should have one. I have the perfect pre for this bass that's still unused. Wink Wink! In fact, I think this bass would be perfect with the Pope Flexcore as well, but those are really dear. (Can't stand that Aguilar tone) In a prefect world, I'd still own this bass. -

Hi mates, it's a cloudy day here, so not good for photography. Here's a link to Tayste's FS ad over at another forum with additional info and pics. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f182/overwater-progress-iii-deluxe-978827/ -
Edited for clarity: I'm taking a break from music. Please don't offer trades unless your offer leaves me better off (in the economics sense) than taking cash would. I do not need more basses, I'm selling my music gear. Let's reflect this preference by assigning a trade value of 1500 pounds on the bass. Yes, that is intentionally double the cash price. Edit: so, here's an audio clip. Bump for rock tones. I'm mostly trying to demonstrate that this bass has powerful controls. Someone was kind of interested and then said that Overwaters do not have enough range in the bass boost/cut. Well, there's a bit in the audio clip where I go from 0 to +max and then 0 to -max. No account for taste, but I've very seldom heard pres with more powerful bass controls. Bought this from Tayste earlier this year. Very fine fiver, but trying to cut down and I NEED sixers. I don't need a five. Very slim and playable neck, great ergonomics all round. Walnut body, maple top, maple neck rosewood (? I'll check) board. 36" gives this bass an excellent B string, one of the VERY few B's that are just as slappable as you'd expect a good 4-stringer's E to be. Also, walnut body. This bass has a very weighty and authoritative tone. Full and punchy at the same time. No mud. Versatile. (Hey, Overwater electronics!) Here's a link to Tayste's FS ad over at another forum with additional info and pics. http://www.talkbass....-deluxe-978827/ Here are some photos of my own https://www.dropbox....6wbz/4sN6UgDVC2 Asking 750 inculding shipping.

edit: Aight, back up for SALE. I'm moving and want to have as little stuff to schlep as poss so I'm a motivated seller. The bass was set up last in August by my luthier. I'm looking for TRADED pounds in cash, or whatever in trades, though, as I write above, I'm not very interested in having stuff for the sake of having stuff, because of the impending move. Well, I traded this back, now letting it go for a second time. My custom frankenbass and the MTD(s) are more me. In excellent condition. My luthier checked everything and the bass plays really (really, really) well. Otherwise, it's the same as a year ago. Here's what I said about it then: As I understand it, mr. Celinder does not build custom basses any more, but his Celinder Update series is well-known. Lovely, fat tone (sort of Brubaker-Smith love child-ish thing), easy to play, not too compressed... I heard he designed these as a tribute to Ken Smith. Oh, and the B string is VERY slappable! Pics: http://s626.photobuc...r?sort=3&page=1 Here's what Peter said about this bass earlier this spring, all of which still holds true, with the addition that the string spacing is adjustable and I think it might go as far as 18,5 even. 18,3 mm for sure.
I'm selling my custom built 6-string bass handmade by Christian Celinder in his workshop in Copenhagen (Denmark) in '97. The neck is standard lenght (34"), 24 frets, bolt on, 5-piece neck (3 x maple + 2 x purpleheart). Fretboard is ebony. The body is Danish ash with a top of quilted maple. Pickups are Celinders own handspun C6DC's with ebony covers. The preamp is the Aguilar ODP-3 (18v) with vol, vol (pull/push active/passive), bass, mid (2-band switchable), treble. The control knobs are all ebony. String spacing @ bridge: 17,5mm (center string to center string) String spacing @ nut: 10,0mm (center string to center string) Celinder isn't building his fantastic basses anymore. Back in the day you had to wait for 2 years or more to receive your instrument. I'm the 2nd owner. It's 99% mint condition, only cosmic wear. Absolutely NO deep scratches, nothing. Hiscox Lite Flite hardcase included. Basses in the same league could be custom F Bass, Fodera and Alembic. This is a one-of-a-kind bass, there is no other Celinder bass with these specs. As far as I know this is the only Custom 6 with a 34" neck ever made, all others have 36" necks. The pics don't justify the beauty of the instrument. Price when bought from Celinder: 6.400$
