Just posted a transcription/video of Jack Bruce's bass line on uTube. No, not god awful TAB. But for folk who have bothered to learn to read music. https://www.youtube....em-upload_owner

awesome slides...or power gliss's...how?
wal4string replied to iconic's topic in Theory and Technique
I find that slides are only effective if they are as long as possible and ideally on the same string that the slide ends on.i.e. a slide to an A on the E string 5th fret would be best begun an octave higher, the 17th fret on the E string. -

Just finished transcribing this so I thought my fellow BCer's would like a gander. I have written it in the same key as the record. I have read that bassist Mark Stoermer detunes his bass down a semi-tone no sign of a de-tuner on any live footage I have seen so most likely true. So, unless you use a 5 string I have written the out of range notes up an octave, these are the double stops. If played on a 4 string play the top notes, if played on a 5 string play the bottom. The high section during the intro is best played at the 13th position from bar 5 to 11. Enjoy This is a pdf, so be sure to change the file extention from .ipb to .pdf

For Trade Status Kingbass MKI for a Retroglide
wal4string replied to wal4string's topic in Basses For Sale
Just to clarify, when hen barn owned the S2, it was a 34" scale with black hardware. I had Rob replace the neck with the 32" scale neck plus bendwell, at the same time had the blue wrap around LED's fitted and the black hardware replaced with silver. I loved the bass before the refit but was desperate for LED's which meant a neck replacement, so, decided to have the extra work done. Bass is now better than ever. All the work cost me more than I paid for the bass but worth every penny. -

PRO 4/5 string bassist seeks contract
wal4string replied to wal4string's topic in Bassists Available
Hi Andy, Thank you for the heads up. I was looking to join a Guest Ent Band, so I wouldn't have to put up with all the nonsense that a crew member has. -
Experienced PRO bass player (good reader) seeks contract on cruise ship or abroad. Many similar contracts completed working with orchestras, guest ent bands and trios. Use to working with click track. Backing cabarets etc.

As TheGreek says, Barrie was kind enough to collect a bass for me while he was dropping off a bass to Mick. I then collected my bass from Barrie and paid him the balance for the bass he had dropped off at TheGreeks. Saved me a very long drive. This is what The Basschat community should always be about, trust and confidence while making life easier for all concerned. What made this trade even more remarkable is that Barrie had previously been involved with a similar trade but one of the party cancelled at the last minute when part of the trade had already been completed leaving him with an unwanted item. If that had been me I would most likely had never contemplated such a trade ever again. I arrived at Barries two minutes after he had just driven the 2 hours from Micks to be welcomed with a lovely cup of tea (I assure it was, don't listen to his wife).. We had a long and interesting chat about all things bass, I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.. I then spotted I had been there almost 2 hours (I am sorry if I out stayed your welcome) and bid Barrie a fond farewell and set out on my two hour drive home. It was a pleasure to meet you Barrie and I have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone wishing to trade. May the Funk be with you. Ron

Did a 3 way deal with Mick this weekend. Trade went as smooth as could be. Bass exactly as described (if not better). Only shame is we never got to meet. Trade with confidence absolutely no problems. Cheers Mick for not having second thoughts about the transaction.
