The most mis-attributed song on the internet?
MiltyG565 replied to spinynorman's topic in General Discussion
Don't know about the internet, but probably one of the most misattributed tunes ever is The James Bond theme. Most think it's John Barry... in fact, even John Barry thinks it's John Barry
it was in fact me.... -
The most mis-attributed song on the internet?
MiltyG565 replied to spinynorman's topic in General Discussion
A huge amount of people online think that Johnny Cash wrote 'Hurt', and that Nine Inch Nails covered it, but of course it's the other way round.
yeah, i have to correct people too many times. i recorded a cover of it a little while ago, we used the nine inch nails key, and the Johnny Cash tempo, which was a mistake, because we had no singer, and couldn't use the vocals from either song. DOH! -
The most mis-attributed song on the internet?

dont worry be happy is always attributed to bob marley. so many people think that. it is in fact bobby mcferran. bob marley wrote 3 little birds, which has a similar lyric to don't worry. -
is michael mcdaid on this forum? loved his work with paolo nutini, especially their live version of jenny dont be hasty, with the long drawn out teaser intro. and i believe he did backing vocals too? they were sweet! anybody know of other local bass legends who have played or recorded with popular artists?

Ben bought an OLP MM2 off me. very prompt and a pleasure to sell to. made things easy for me, good communication, and very easy to deal with. don't hesitate to sell to ben

ha, before i had really twigged on it was a scam, i asked the seller for the serial number. his reply was delightful. here it is I dont know about that I have checked on the guitar if I can see that but i couldnt. remember i told you this bass is my late brother's and I dont know nothing about guitars. So you may know better when you get it. as i recall, he knew enough to know what sort of pickup and preamp were in it? i couldn't have told anyone anything about pickups or preamps before i started playing bass.

yeah, me too. maybe i should just start a ponzy scheme then i could have all the modulus's i wanted!
-
yeah, that very same ad is posted 100 times all over the internet.

http://www.freeadvertising4.com/uploads/cool-modulus-flea-bass-Ad17729.html what? another thing is, he didn't seem to have a problem with me collecting it....
-
yeah, those are the photos he sent me, which obviously aren't the same as the one in the gumtree ad. same email address too. i did notice that the link to the picture was actually from talkbass, so i have been looking around there trying to find the photos. also, i asked the guy to tell me the serial number, he never replied after that. so i wasn't wrong to be over critical. thanks very much for finding those links!

i got a reply from the seller. he said he was selling it cheap because he has no need for it, as it was his brothers, who is now dead. i don't want to seem over-critical, but you never can be too sure, does it sound genuine to anyone?
-
wow, travelling costs for me will cost hundreds. it is in london, to which, i have never been, and don't really plan on visiting anytime soon! yeah, i was thinking the picture was a bit fancy for someone selling this dirt cheap on gumtree. i have emailed anyway, and i will see what the seller has to say.
I tried a flea bass once. It was amazing, and for £800, i was kicking myself that had just bought a brand new 3eq stingray. Lovely basses they are.
yeah, they definitely sound great! although i have heard people not liking them because they think they feel a bit like a plastic toy. but what is to be expected of something that comes out of america?
-
f*** thats a lot of hours in work (and less in the pub ) a cheap one is bound to crop up somewhere though. they weren't that expensive a little while ago! that is just madness!
-
ill build 2 and sell one. problem solved
-
hm, that couldn't be right. i looked a little while ago and they were more like £500. thats a bit of a price hike. anyway, there's 2 things i always wanted. one is a brand new bass, made for me. the second was to make a bass. this seems right. i'm going to try out a modulus before i put too much money into this, but there aren't many floating about ol' northern ireland. (floating basses are the rarest ones)

ok, sorry for the misleading title, but i was wondering if any of you guys could help- i'm looking for the dimensions of the modulus funk unlimited 4. i'm going to try and build a clone at some stage, and i basically just need to know the thickness, length and width of the body. i do intend to put on a modulus neck, once i have the monies in the bank, but as i figure, building the body will take more time, and also cost less, so i can have that sitting ready to go by the time i get the neck!
It's always difficult when you are asked to leave a band, it's also just as hard to ask someone to leave a band. I've been on both sides of the fence. It may seem hard at the moment but you shouldn't really take it personally, or like has been said a few times on this thread, it'll eat you up for years. The best thing is realise that you don't fit in with their current plans and move on, don't harbour a grudge, tell them if it doesn't work out you're still available. If you were in a band and another successful band headhunted you for a major tour, what would you do?
personally, i wouldn't let them know i was available to play for them. they did a stupid and horrible thing, and it was no good, no good for you or them. they made their choice, they will have to live with it. on the being head-hunted thing- i will always side with my mates. i'm always very loyal, and a lot of businesses get my custom because of the loyalty i have built up with them. heres how i see it. me and my friends in a band, doing well. record label asks to get rid of a member- NO WAY! me and my friends in a band, doing well. record label approaches me for another band- NO WAY! me and a few guys (not particularly close), record label asks to get rid of a member- NO WAY! essentially, i hate labels, and whatever they ask me to do, i will always be strong headed about it. i'm not in a band, and i haven't had a label before, but i don't change what i think for anyone.
-
dont get me wrong guys, i don't take myself too seriously, but it doesn't really do anyone any favours to have someone who is a lot worse than everyone else in the band. i have been reading a thread on here about a chap who got kicked from his band because a potential label said he was too fat. if any label approached me and asked me to get rid of any member based on that, i would tell them to go f*** themselves. I was in a "band" recently, it was me, my best mate, and some annoying kid (but he's a decent guitarist and singer, he also begged, literally begged me, to be in the band). The problem here was, the kid "over-promises, and under-delivers", not my words, but the words of more than one tutor or friend of his. and it was a shame, but when i saw it was going nowhere, i called him up on it, and said what the case was, and that i wasn't going to do it anymore. i advised my mate to do the same, but he let it drag on, and on, until he lost his rag and told him to go f*** a duck. for 2 months, the result was 1 practice, absolute no song ideas written down anywhere, or even voiced. it was totally disorganised, and i don't do that. so i suppose, if you aren't happy in your current band, you should leave. there is nothing to lose i suppose. but i wish you all the best in your new band venture! hope that works out. i think finding good drummers is quite difficult.
