1. i have looked at the fearful head case, but was looking more along the lines of the trace elliot bright box. getting new cabs isn't much of an option. the sound from these is good enough. its just they are too boomy, and don't let the brightness through. but i don't mind. as long as i can get some brightness in my sound, its golden. i suppose they are sub cabs. its was the guy who built them that actually suggested that i build a bright box, after i explained that i wanted to convert one cab into a 4x10. bright box is the way forward.
2. also, my cabs are 4 ohms, so this kinda has to be 4 ohms too (doesnt it?)
3. well ok, I'm going to build a bright box.... eventually (when my account evens out again :/) so, i have been looking at the fearful stuff. and then i looked about other places and whatever. i'm thinking 3/4 speakers, and a tweeter. but, in your experience, what size of speakers would work best? i have 2 15 inchs cabs, that provide punch, and boom, and other sort of violence related noise names. i was going to convert one to a 4x10, but i was advised "No". instead, i was advised to build a bright box, and let some nice tone through! (with built in crossover). but yeah, need to know what sizes and stuff. i am by no means an expert on speakers or amps, so y'know, pass on your knowledge to the next generation Thanks. Milty.
4. take the power back, rage against the machine.
5. i have a theory that just about every session musician is normally great at what they do. when i think of artists like Paolo Nutini, i always think of his bassist, Michael McDaid, as a bit of a genius. especially their live gigs. same could be said for noel gallaghers high flying birds. noel himself isn't a great guitarist, but he can write a good song, and the guys he has in his band are first rate at what they do. if i was auditioning for musicians, i would tend to go more towards the sessionists, if thats a word. but give everyone their fair chance. its just more likely that a session player could be a bit better than the rest.
6. just gonna say, alot of that doesnt make sense, but welcome anyway! hello!
7. john frusciante. love his solo stuff!
8. oh, good stuff. i just left a jazz bass body off to be sprayed. it just had too many little chips and dings for my liking. lake placid blue anyone?
9. bumping this again. still up for grabs. £120, its an absolute steal!
10. it looks like some of the primer is still in the grain of the timber, which you should be careful of if you are doing a natural finish. dont want to spray it all nicely, then notice there's a bit of grayness to it still.
11. thanks guys the war..DAMMIT! i was trying so hard not to say it that i accidentally said it
12. hello there! I have been kicking about this place for a month or 2, and never formally introduced myself, i am sorry. My friends normally call me Milton, or Milty. I'm 19, and i am an A level student. of course 19 isn't the normal age of an A level student, but i did leave school and become a joiner for 2 years (which is quite regrettable). Anyway, I have been playing bass for about 18 months, and not only have i learned alot about bass, but i think i have developed pretty well as a musician (although my skills on every other instrument are even more limited than my bass playing skills). I'm doing an A level in performing arts as a musician, and hope to go on to uni in England next year. I love the technical side of instruments, although i know very little about it, i love learning about it. everything from timber technology to how a head is wired, i love it all. In terms of tone, i really aspire to fleas tone, although that isn't likely. or else Mr. Commerford. yes, red hot chili peppers and rage against the machine are a couple of my favourite bands, but i also love dire straits, the eagles, fleetwood mac, bruce springsteen, and many other bands of that era. Over the short space of time i have been playing, i have bought and sold quite a few basses, purely on the fact that it didn't impress me enough to keep, and i made small upgrades with every purchase. Right now, i have a korean made OLP HH with 3 band EQ, and a fender jazz bass, which is actually just a body at the minute, and it is getting painted. I have an ashdown ABM 400 head from 1998, with 2 1x15 speaker cabs, made by a friend many years ago (before i started playing). Thats basically everything about me. i have found most of you guys to be pretty pleasant and light hearted, which i enjoy. I likely will post stupid questions on here at times, but please bare with me, im still learning If you have read this far, well done you! Thanks. Milty.

16. yes, you will have to organise the courier though. i will package it up. you could send me the money via paypal. Cheers.
17. just finished reading that thread..... wow. that guy goes to extreme measures!
18. building my own pickup is something that i have though about many times. but theres a couple of reasons why i have never done it. 1- i don't have the money for such a devilishly expensive thing. 2. i don't have the skills or expertise. 3. i don't have the tools. and 4. i have no idea how to make a pickup sound like tim commerfords! (love his sound!)
19. bump. still up for grabs. get a bargain while you can. alot of interest in this now, but nothing is confirmed yet.
20. yeah, same here. i just find the whole thing annoying. someone in work said you can tell what side of the fence someone is from by the way they say "H". i told him to wise up. anyway, strayed off the topic into dangerous waters there! yes, a meet! where/when? i could ask a couple of my bassy friends of they would attend.
21.
What difference?
haha, we arent going to do this!
22. another bump.
23.
+1 to a meet in Ireland (if that's what you're suggesting) Also welcome aboard to WeeWheels!
i wasnt suggesting it, i was saying it (unless you are trying to be all political about the differece between northern ireland and the republic).
