Don't worry Milton, already thought of that and I'm working out the best way to do it (where I don't know how long I'll have).
Fantastic! You're always a step ahead of me!

James, does your camera take videos or anything? might be a good idea to record a small segment of the meet-up as well as take a couple of photos If you could get him on camera endorsing the relay, that could go a long way!
Tomorrow people, the BC baton will be in the hands of Mark King!
And the strings will be in bits after all his slappin n poppin

Anything is only ever worth what anybody is willing to pay for it. I personally don't see the point in getting a bass custom made by some small guitar firm, especially if it's already a popular design, like a jazz bass, for their skills or because of the special woods that they use.
Actually I am disappointed that so much bandwidth here is given over to Victor Wooten who has the worst bass sound I've ever heard and no audible soul whatsoever but just so happens to slap faster (and unfortunately less tunefully) than anyone else every in history, when you've got this geezer who is a living breathing example of how to be an awesome bassist and he's totally ignored because he's making actual music instead of making solo bass guitar albums.
I don't like Victor Wooten much myself, or solo bass albums. I know one of Wooten's songs is called "You can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket", and I don't know how to put this, but I think music shouldn't acknowledge itself in music.

A slightly grainy photo, but exciting nonetheless!
And can we add them to the Facebook page? Milton - if you're at a comp, could you add the paper article here please? I'm on my phone and it's a touch awkward.
Sure, Bit I upload to photo bucket and embed it here, because I don't know how to upload here. Is that OK?

Couple of nice pics of the bass in action! Great! Do you mind if we use them, Gary?
Surely Logic has a concept of submix tracks/folders rather than you having to group tracks together for volume? This is not some new idea its exactly what a real mixer does, you send tracks to a group buss rather than the main stereo buss and can still affect the levels within the group by playing with faders. I havent used Logic in anger for well over ten years though....
Probably, I've just not learned how to do it yet.
-
Simon - That's exactly what I want to do in Logic, but as far as I've gotten with the idea is to place things under groups Although my mixer is looking very tidy and organised this month. I have each part of the mixer assigned for different instruments, which all go into one group (Like drums). The worst part is when you decided that maybe only one little track needs to be turned down a little bit, and have to ungroup it, make the adjustment and regroup it.
I'd just like to say to all involved that I have been following this from day one and what you have achieved so far is outstanding. I have lost 2 best mates and my Dad to cancer in the last year or two and you all have my total respect. Off to just giving now to make a donation. Basschat Rocks.
You rock for donating! It's all about getting the funds up. We all know how beneficial knowledge is, especially when it comes down to something as serious and as life threatening as cancer, and that's how the money raised will be spent - research. I think it's a really worthy charity, because it doesn't aim to benefit this one particular group, it aims to help humanity as a whole understand the disease better. I can see literally no reason to not donate to this if you have the means too, even if it's just £5, it all helps to defeat our common enemy Good on you Sam, for making a donation! And good on everyone else for making a donation, and good on everyone who has played the bass at a gig, and good on BlueJay too for doing lots of organising and PR stuff, which none of us really know about

Welcome! Guys! He's here! And now, a collective blush, for all the things said in this thread
Just to reiterate, that is NOT all the BVs I will upload the rest on Monday if I have time at wwork....
And the whatever the bass is that CamdenRob plays. Looks and sounds lovely, even though I don't much fancy 6 strings basses.
He's hilarious. Love his new film.
Lol, I'm just laughing at the fact that I never get any of your jokes
It´s more on a beginner level, but sheds a light into many niches, though. You get a lot of information for your money since it consists of 3 double layer DVDs. Anyway the best thing you can do to learn about recording is simply to do it and not too much think about it. Read a few good books about the theory, esp. miking and ask experienced people for their opinion about what you´ve done.
That's exactly what I'm doing. Well, I'm not doing any recording right now, but I always read some theory on here, and if I have questions, I ask. Thanks for the advice though If it's on a beginner level, I'll consider it more now.

I missed this! You lot started the party without me!? I've been working on this. (got the stems from the other thread, but now just downloaded the backing vocals, in record time, might I add ). I have mine sounding pretty nice. A bit different from the version on the Bandcamp page. some of the instruments a bit more in your face, but it hasn't lost that kind of "dark" undertone that the song has. Now I've just got to fiddle with it until I can make it the best that my ability allows, which is almost certainly not enough to be the likes of Skol or Simon, or a whole bunch of you other guys Got to try and fit the BVs into it somehow now I don't like it when there's too much going on in a song. Same with everything really

Just seen a video talking about this DVD set by Alan Parsons, and it's currently reduced, to $95, which I reckon is between £60-£70 (am I right?). So what do you reckon? You probably know that I don't know a great deal about recording or mixing, so do you think I'm not ready for this level of tuition, or should I just go on ahead and get it?
It was just a 'top of the head' idea. If a well-known and respected luther or techy gave the bass a once-over it could be a bit more good publicity. That was all.
Maybe if it was sent to some local guitar workshop to be spruced up?
-
I just thought it would show a bit of love to restore the frets so that the Bass is be fully playable - nothing more than that.
Yeah, nothing wrong with that I agree, but others don't.
I'd be interested to know why.
It's traceable, and secure. How do I know that the person isn't paying me in counterfeit notes, or going to give me a cheque that will bounce? Paypal just takes any of that worry out. And for buying - If it's one of those "We'll meet in a carpark halfway" deals, and then you later realise you have bought something stolen, and you know nothing about the fellow you bought it off, Paypal knows stuff about him.
but what if we could somehow make money for the cause out of it being 'fixed'????
What are you thinking?
