1.
That's what they're saying on Talkbass. The PF-800 has better tone with more authority in each note. I haven't seen any issues reported, but does anyone know if the PF-800 suffers the same problems as the PF-500?
i've had zero problems with my pf800, my pf500 did cut out every now and then (but rarely)
I'd love to know more about how you are finding the PF800. What cabs are you using with it, still a BF S15? What sort of venues do you play? Cheers Geoff
The PF800 is probably nmy favourite amp of all time, ive always been an ampeg fan and this little thing is ridiculous, completely nails that ampeg sound and can get stupendously loud, im still running it with the barefaced S15 and playing venues of varying sizes, small to medium to large and it has never had a problem on stage edit: i recorded my new bands EP using my precision into an old valve ampeg and was shocked how similar it sounded to the PF800, totally nailed it.
2. i thought the sound of my Ampeg pf500 into my barefaced super15 was awesome, but the pf500 often felt like it was running out of headroom and i never felt at ease when pushing it, i upgraded it to the pf800 and the headroom is amazing! so i say go for the pf800
3. i spend a lot of time looking at the custom page of tom's site getting excited.
4.
He has 3 custom units of mine on the bench at the mo, which will bring my total to 5 (plus the aux switch he made for my eventide - so kinda 6), plus I have his mind working over another for the new year... I'll have a COG board before long. Easily the easiest pedal builder to work with!
quit hogging all the build time! hah
5. Tom has been the easiest, most friendly person to deal with, i cant wait to have a pedal!
6.
i have one somewhere without its original plastic covers (which i pinched for my wizard pickups because it was cream)

let me see if i can find it
Gojira Pedals.

wasnt this the guy who was refinishing/rehousing mooer pedals and selling them for loads more and then got caught out?
8. isnt the Markbass mini distortion thing a tubescreamer as well?
9. when someone looked over the schematic of my pearce BC1 a while ago, they mentioned it was based on a TS style overdrive. so based on that i guess the Billy Sheehan OD is as well.
10.
Best to have one atop the other due to dispersion issues. But I'm struggling to think of a situation where you would need two S15s.
I'd be scared of a two s15 vertical stack falling down on me.
11. my ONLY problem with the new barefaced cabs is that there doesn't seem to be anything the same dimensions as the super15... at some point in the future i was going to splurge and have two side by side.
12.
... instead of playing around with my small knob in the dark.
lolz
13. i have a few ideas cooking with tom, really looking forward to things starting to take shape
14. this is EXACTLY what im after in a delay pedal as well, momentary with trails.

ArcTangent Festival

this festival was so good! didnt get there till quite late on the friday so the first band i caught were brontide, who have got even better!
16. my CIJ fender p keeps its tune for ages and so does my shuker jetking look a like, but my old fender japan jazz neck loses it's tune if you just look at it funny. gotoh reverse tuners on the Precision & hipshot something or others on the shuker, both feel infinitely superior to the ones on the jazz.
17. i totally agree with what Si says about finding your own sound, but dissecting other peoples sounds that i liked and finding out how to recreate the elements i liked, really helped me in finding my own sound. so use it as a basis to find out how to create your own sounds, not like those dudes that just ape someones whole setup.
18. i used to use a similar sound to the evil empire bass tone in an old old old band, i used my jazz bass (bridge pup solo) into a sansamp RBI (later swapped out for an Ampeg SVT II) i did have the old guv'nor for a while too but never used it with my ampeg. but my jazz bass into the ampeg SVT II non pro could sound exactly like the Evil Empire normal tone.
19. i have a set of wizard hammers in my shuker bass, they are insanely good.
20. only issue with my cab is that i wish i'd had money at the time to upgrade to the grill cloth!
21.
Still manages to sound like turd
# HAR HAR HAR DANIEL, you loved my b3k so much you went and bought one.
22. Just bought one this very second in the works in Leeds, still two more copies in there at 4.99
23. off the top of my head, my settings are: all flick switches up, and all the knobs between 3, 4 and 5 on a clock face, pretty full on.

Which Flanger?

my two faves are the old aria dual stage flanger and the pearl flanger pearl ever so slightly won for me
25. my b3k is pretty solid and hefty in the low end and i run my blend almost all the way up and sometimes all the way, shoot the darkglass guys an email.
