1. I actually don't mind the damage, it's all use not abuse. Reminds me of the Nate Mendel (sp?) signature bass, good price too.
2. Seller says the neck is graphite - I thought these were all wood?
3.
Vigier Passion 1896
Ooohhhh, an early one!
4. Ah, right, I get you now. Jesus, imagine if Fender had those parts, they'd charge a frickin fortune. Nice bass this, nuts simple which is all you need.
5. Not sure if you're being disingenuous but let's try a different tack. Imagine a Fender dealer goes in to the store room tomorrow & finds a 1955 P bass that had been missed & is still in its wax wrapping, untouched since 1955. That's what Fender are trying to achieve with the NOS models.
6. Link would be useful. No dots suggests a converted fretless.
7. As if it was bought in the respective year & time warped to today, i.e. no wear & tear or corrosion.
8. I played that bass in the old Bass Centre. I was @ 18/19 at the time & the asking price was over 3 months salary, I was gutted I couldn't have it.
9.
Just a quick question, do the fanned frets make it more difficult to play chords?
I'd say no. There is a bit of readjustment required but I was comfortable with my Afterburner within 10 minutes, it's very intuitive really. Having played a Dingwall for some time I am a fan fret convert, it feels more comfortable, much more even feel & response across the strings & the whole thing just feels more "in tune". When I switch to a regular fretted bass now it sounds like the B,E & A are a different instrument to the D & G. If I had the money I would be all over this one.
10. Sold a G&L to Colin & the whole process was as pleasant & fuss-free as you could wish. One of life's genuine nice guys.
11. Superb bass & the price is frankly nuts! This won't last long.
12. Gotta love that he's "never seen another one" in both adverts.
13. I have an AB1, these are awesome instruments. Build quality is superb, great tone, the fanned fret system works wonderfully & is a breeze to adjust too. I've owned Alembics, Wals, Steinbergers, Stati & Elricks to name a few. The Dingwall has outlasted all of them.
14. Just to confirm, the neck is the Jazz size, 38mm/1.5 inches at the nut.
15. It's funny how life can tick along for years & years and then suddenly throw you a curve ball that changes everything. Well that's happened to me over the last few days & I find myself with an exciting opportunity that I've decided to take. The down side is that to make this happen I'll need to release some funds so with great regret I'm offering this wonderful bass that I only got recently from Slazman. http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1885854 I always wanted an L2000 but held on for years for the right one; that being a premier finish & matched headstock so I'm sad to have found that "right" bass only to have to part with it again. I'll get my own pictures up shortly but the bass is almost mint, just a tiny impression on the back of the headstock, a testament to how well Slazman has cared for it. The G&L case has a ding but it's sound and the CoA is included. I've popped a new Duracell in & a set of Chromes on it so it's ready to go. It is a monster bass, incredibly versatile, beautifully made, sounds like thunder and a joy to play. Price is £725 inc. mainland shipping, slightly less than it cost me. Not interested in any trades or low-ball offers, it's a good £1000 less than new. I'll be offering more things shortly!
16. Thanks for the input, I fear for my post-Christmas overdraft .
17. I'm seriously thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these. Not to hijack you're trade thread, but how do you rate it? I hear 2 extreme schools of thought; It's a good bass but the AER/IRA stuff is nonsense & it's over priced. It's the real deal, a modern, Pre-CBS tone machine.
18. Bass & treble sides at the 12th, not sure these are much better pictures tbh. The action is a little lower than my G&L &, with a bit of time, I could probably lower it further but I find the bass so easy to play as it stands that I've not bothered. If you were looking to collect then there's some wiggle room on the pricing.
19. Think it may be the angle, ill get a picture of it so you can see.
20. Thank you! It's a terrific bass. I'm about 8 miles south of sunny Middlesbrough, just inside North Yorkshire.
