1. Oh man this is gorgeous. Had the fiver of this and it was lovely.
2. Love the colour of this. Have a bump.
3. This is a lovely looking bass. I don't need one, but I keep looking at it anyway. Have a bump.
4. Got a brand new Warwick thumb BO 4 string for less than £800.00 Sold it some months later for quite a bit more than I paid for it. Actually nearly paid for a secondhand MM 25th anniversary 5 string with what I got, just had to add small change.
5.
Definitely on the list, no idea what they feel like to play though?
I loved them. That's why I bought and tried three different ones. I sold them on for no good reason other than I am a incurable bass-hopper and never settle with anything for long. Of all I've played, the Dingwall was by far the nicest and the fan frets will augment your playing. Couple of minutes and you will wonder why you never tried it sooner.
6. You've got a Dingwall shaped hole in the stable. Bass Direct have a secondhand starting around £1350 Should try one of these.
7.
Thanks BC however price is creeping into the mid £400 now, almost into MB 121P territory! I wonder if the Rumble 100 cuts it? Looked at the TC Electronic 250 watt 208 today ( by phone) but they admitted it would not handle a 5 string.
Regarding the TC amp. I called at our local Dawsons and played a TC 250w alongside the fender and the fender totally blew it away in tone, and power. It was a very easy decision when i heard the rumble compared to something with the reputation of the TC electronic. Each and every person has their own favourites but for ease of transport, tweakability on sound and raw volume the fender was hard to beat.
8. Fanned frets are nothing to be afraid of. Minutes will have you wondering why you never tried it sooner. Ive tinkered through three dingwalls and loved them. Keep an eye out for the secondhand ones and give them a go, the B string is simply excellent. It looks pretty neat as well.
9. I had the 12.2 max and the OD from the extra gain in the tube channel was excellent without worrying about hitting it too hard. I'd suggest that unless you are running the red light constantly you are ok. Why buy an expensive amp to put a cheaper pedal in front of it ?
10.
I currently own a Micromark 801 Combo, an Eden 60 watt Combo and a MarkBass TTE500 Head and 15" Cabinet. For gigs I use the big stuff but recently for rehearsals and some Open Mics and Jams I run, I need something smallish ( because the car is stuffed with PA, Mixers, Stands, Basses etc etc) and the Big Rig is OTT anyway. The Eden has no line out and only 60 watts, The MicroMark is only 45 watts and does have a line out but I find all the Mixer slots are taken up with acoustic guitars and keyboards and Mics anyway. So been looking at mid priced and mid sized combos, up to £300 and ideally for home and gig rehearsal and Open Mic /jams with no DI into PA. Currently there is the Eden EC28 180 watts (on offer at £270), the EBS 120 10" combo c £300, the TC electronic range under £300 with 250 watts and The Ibanez Promethean (10" and 300 watts) under £300. Anyone got experience of these please, especially for 5 strings or are there any other options I have missed? I'd like to keep it small and not go above a 10" speaker....
You might want to check out the Fender rumble amps. I took the plunge on the 500watt version with 2 x 10" speakers; which is 280watts without another speaker cab to bring out the 500w and I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised. It has a rather helpful overdrive and gain section and is plenty loud for a reliable back line and soft enough for home practice too. There are smaller outputs than the 500 watt version and they are very affordable and light too.
11. Congrats. ACG is really good stuff. One of the best basses you've never played. (If in fact you have never played one)
12. Green basses wouldn't be something I would look twice at as I prefer other finishes but that's nice. Really lovely looking with matching headstock. Reflective of Irish roots perhaps. Or did I read it was in memory of "that bass" he once owned gotta love fender block inlay fretboards.
13. Oh thats absolutely gorgeous. Have a bump for free.
14. You rarely see an ugly Lull bass. I didn't like the headstock shape much when I first saw them but it's kinda grown on me. I had a black modern jazz of the Lull stable last year for a bit and it was a fine piece of kit. At the price I would have expected nothing less, but you get what you pay for. Quality.
15. Oh that is a tempting morsel. Thankfully it's not a five string.
16. Best pics I've seen. I had the sunburst version of these, awesome chunky sound with flat wound strings. GLWTS
17. Best sounding musicman bass i ever owned was a blue one of these. Knocked spots off the 25th anniv HSS five string i had. Im tempted to reacquire one.
18.
Why? Well, its a tiny thing, but I really really LOVE the Lakland necks.
Ok, I've never played a lakland. Of any description. I'm really lusting after a 2025. Two problems though, can't find one and don't have enough money for a new one. GLWTs
19. That is simply delightful. Just as well it's not five strings or I'd have had to raid the holiday fund. Why would you sell something this beautiful ?
20. That's mutts nuts material. I'd love an hour alone with that.
21. That's a gorgeous combo of colours and finish. I'd love this but I'm about 1400 short. GLWTS
22. I love these basses. Just can't get away with four strings. Have a bump Lozz
