It's not a Yamaha BB but it's probably of interest here as the pickup and electrics are based on his BB1200S. Eastwood have just released the Hooky Viking Pro, based on his Eccleshall hollow body with the BB electrics. Pretty pricey when compared to the Jack Casady or similar. Definitely interesting though with a reverse P and active electrics. https://eastwoodguitars.co.uk/products/eastwood-hooky-viking?variant=40381321805909

I'm just relearning the set for our amped up acoustic band as we haven't gigged properly since lockdown. I still haven't built up the strength I had back then but I'm finally back up to speed with Rio... on doublebass. 🙈

I think the concerns are more with the finish cracking with the expansion and contraction of wood with extremes of temperature. My post was just saying that my basses have handled enough of a temperature change to cause condensation on the bass without any ill effects.

Aha, finally another slippy strap lover like myself. I hate a grippy strap pulling at your clothing all the time. I like to be able to slide it around. I've found the Mono Betty to be my favourite. Wide, padded, strong metal fixings and not grippy. They do seem to to have leapt up in price, I'm sure I only paid about £30 for mine, but it was some years ago, but there ya go, they last for years.

I've got my bass out at a gig a few times and it's started to condensate due to the warm humid pub. Just let it sit on the stand until it's warmed up and the condensation has dried.

I haven't had cause to use my Phil Jones Bass 4B extension cab since lockdown and it's been stored in my workshop. Last week I took it out from underneath the bench and noticed the port slots at the bottom were filthy and some of the wadding had been pulled out. It looks like someone has made more use of it than me for the last couple of years. I opened it up today and it's in a right state. The wadding has been moved all around and hollowed out, various bits of rubbish have been dragged in there (rubbing down paper, nitrile gloves, etc) and it contains the skeleton of, I presume, a rat. It's completely stripped now and will all be being cleaned and disinfected thoroughly. I have the same type of polyester wadding saved from another large cabinet that was scrapped (I assume it's all the same?) but how much should I put in? I can't tell how much was in it before or where it was as it's all been moved around and compacted. The cabinet is a 4 driver 2x2 design. There is a shelf between the upper pair and the lower pair that stops about 4" short of the back panel. Should I fill just the rear area behind the shelf, just the two areas above and below the shelf, or all three effectively filling the entire cab? I assume it doesn't want to be compacted at all? Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Nothing hugely exciting, but something that I've always liked the look of and is in need of a little love. An american S D Curlee. Until it's in my hands I don't know how old but judging by the bridge it's a 76/77. All original apart a possibly painted body, which might be original, with Grover tuners and Dimarzio pickup, in a hard case for £150, I couldn't help it! As said earlier, @Velarian very kindly offered to collect it and package for a courier to help me out, which he did this morning and is hugely appreciated.

I can't compare the singles to the humbuckers as I havent had a J style, but I had a BBG5S with a pair of the soapbar humbuckers which sounded fantastic. Also I assume the same soapbar pickup is in the BEX4 which is one of the best sounding basses (very little) money can buy IMO.

I'm not spilling the beans until I've actually got the bass, it's nothing incredibly exciting anyway, just something I've always liked the look of at a good price. If it falls through we can all forget this sorry incident ever happened... and @VelarianThe Enabler can be let off the hook. He has very kindly offered to collect the bass and send it on to me, being the excellent basschatter that he is. Top fella, top forum, big hugs all round... but you're all very naughty. 😁
