  1. Don't knock the 'A1 lead guitarist songwriter'. He had some success backed in the late nineties. πŸ˜„
  2. It's the standard Hofner neck joint repair. πŸͺ“πŸ—œοΈπŸ‘Œ
  3. An absolute beauty. I'm quietly keeping my eyes open for an Aerodyne Precision. Enjoy your prize. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  4. In case you haven't ventured into the BB mega thread. My BB424X that I've just reversed the P pickup on. I'm really, really enjoying this bass at the moment.
  5. My Jack Casady from a few months ago, on unboxing day. I realised it was a perfect match for the cushions in the garden. πŸ˜„ Then I went on the hunt for a strap and found a perfect match a Canadian company, Perri's.
  6. Squier Bronco is 17mm at the bridge. It's a two saddle, not four though so intonation can be a compromise. But it does has a Fender look to it.
  7. It's looking great! πŸ™‚πŸ‘
  8. Every Loser Wins - Nick Berry F**k yeah! Now we're talking!
  9. You'd have to take that up with the costume department or casting.
  10. Ha ha, we can't have more Kay enduced envy. @Pea Turghis bad with my other old Kay. 😁
  11. Ah, why didn't I realise? That's exactly what it is! The darker wood is obviously more dense and used on that side to accentuate the higher frequencies of the treble strings. These Kays really were ahead of their time. πŸ˜„
  12. I have considered that but don't know if I could get a close enough match. Part of me thinks just darkening it to whatever shade it ends up would be a better visual balance, but the other part of me thinks it's part of the bass' charm and should be enjoyed for it's wonkiness. Another part of me thinks I need to stop waffling shite. πŸ˜‰
  13. Oh yeah, and I still can't get my head around who decided not to put that dark strip in the middle. πŸ™„πŸ˜
  14. Ooh, she's naked!! πŸ˜„ Just finished taking all the lacquer off, only with 80grit at the mo but will go down through the grades tomorrow to a nice smooth finish. I've slightly reshaped the neck, not a lot, but took some of the depth out of it and it feels nice. It was fun shaving it off wondering how deep the truss rod was. πŸ˜„ The red ink should be here in the next day or two and hopefully I'll get it stained over the weekend and then lacquer it next week. No reply from the decal man though, and that needs to go on before lacquering. There's some quite nice grain in places which hopefully will come out more once smooth and stained. I'm considering cleaning and sanding the fretboard, then lacquering that as well, a la Rickenbacker. The only problem is that the frets aren't very tall so with the board lacquered they might just be too low to play well. To be decided. One cool thing, the side dot markers are brass as well as the front ones. Still need to scrape out the rear cavity. I kind of feel guilty taking all the age out of it, but it's a pretty worthless lump anyway so it's allowed I think πŸ™‚πŸ‘
  15. Was that the standard ones or the neos? I find the neos very very close to the SD 1/4 pound pickups. But the 1/4 pounds are a marmite pickup I suppose. Also mine have dropped straight in on both Precisions I fitted them to, they are deeper due to the large magnets but luckily my cavities allowed for this. There's definitely better pickups around, but on a budget I think they're one of the best. Horses for courses though, and not traditional P sound. At the moment my favourite budget pickup supplier is Warman. They do some fantastic stuff at very reasonable prices. The Stingray copy I used is superb.
