  1. Don't use 'Grand Designs' analogies for gawd sake. You'll be six months pregnant before the next ad break.
  2. 'Fraid not. It's a never selling bass as it's just far better than the prices they command. I was just being annoying. 🙄😄
  3. That looks lovely, you gotta love f holes. I picked up a similar looking thing last year made by melody, archtop, f holes, but wierdly with an ovation style headstock and composite back. I've also yet to find a bad Yamaha instrument. PSST, I've still got a tabacco burst BEX4. 😉
  4. I would say whatever you do, don't force it. There's not a great deal of wood above the string in that bridge. With the ball end compressing the wood in the way it's design to, the bridge is very strong. But with too fat a string trying to expand the hole outwards it's liable to split the bridge, especially if the width of the string tapers, as the string tension will pull the string ever further into the hole putting a lot of pressure in a direction that the bridge isn't designed to handle.
  5. A Madness tribute must be a great gig to play. If you've got a multi-effect pedal, find a nice nasally distortion and put the biggest reverb you can find on it and crank it up, it's great for the ships horn at the start of Nightboat To Cairo. 🙂👍
  6. This has always been a (not so) guilty pleasure of mine.
  7. 15 Years - The Levellers 5+4+3+2+1=15 🙄
  8. Only for refereeing snooker matches, for playing bass they're usually a very pale ecru. 😁
  9. In both of of my bands I'm considered a mere slip of a boy at 48. All members of both bands are roughly ten years older than me. One band plays Mod, Northern Soul & Ska and play to audiences from that scene, so generally around the age that the late 70s/early 80s revival scene was relevant to them, some older from the original 60s era but plenty that are younger. The other band is amped up acoustic covers of pop songs done our own way. We happily play Dua Lipa, Girls Aloud, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, etc to a 20s to 70s age range. We also play an assortment from any era but the above shows if 60 year olds can play 'girl group pop' to young audience members then anything goes.
  10. When I'm Cleaning Windows - George Formby It's a cleaning product thing.
  11. Can I play 5-4-3-2-1 by Manfred Mann twice for '30'?
  12. Sweet Gene Vincent - Ian Dury & The Blockheads
