  1. I've seen that, or a bass just like it, in the last couple of weeks, but I don't where... or I've dreamt it up. I'm sure I remember the super cool pink sparkle. Very nice. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘
  2. You Talk Too Much - Sultans Of Ping FC
  3. Pillow Talk - Zayn [Hangs head in shame]
  4. Ooh that's lovely!! Fortunately Sandy is a long way from Cornwall or I'd be ยฃ350 poorer. GLWTS ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘
  5. Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis
  6. I think Three Imaginary Boys was recorded with the Top Twenty guitar. He then got a Jaguar after seeing Elvis Costello with one but was never entirely happy with the sound so put the bridge pickup from the Top Twenty in the middle of the Jag. Or something like that I remember. I think he was still using it, among others, up to the Head On The Door album.
  7. The leaves look to be constructed from different woods for each leaf, so I'd assume they are glued to the top before the finish is applied. Removing them will probably leave a bare wood silhouette, which would mean removing all the finish on the top and refinishing to get an even coverage. I could (hopefully) be wrong but I don't think they'll come off and leave you with a nicely finished top. There's only one way to find out though. ๐Ÿ˜
  8. I was never a fan of music streaming subscriptions for various reasons, but relatively recently caved in and bought an Echo device purely for the ease of noodling along with music at home. One thing I have come to realise it's great for is listening to old music that I wouldn't necessarily have bought, and as a result I've discovered some great stuff. If I really like something I'll still buy the CD, yes I'm a weirdo. ๐Ÿ˜ Ultravox is one of those bands for me, I know, and like, the hits but have never looked any further. I'm really liking the stuff I haven't heard before. One of my favourite discoveries has been Ann Peebles' album 'I Can't Stand The Rain'. I'd never heard of her but what a soul voice!! The playing is great too as it's mainly session musicians who played on Stax and Hi Records productions, you can feel the Al Green vibe all over it.
  9. I've just seen this on my local fb selling pages. Yamaha lamp. How cool would that look in the middle of a collection of BB's? ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  10. Being in a Mod/Northern Soul/Ska band with bandmates and a soundman that like the bass prominent and up front I really am in bass heaven. It's hard to just pick three but let's go with The Jam (Bruce Foxton), The Who (John Entwistle) and The Specials (Horace Panter), but with the likes of The Small Faces, Secret Affair, The Lambrettas, Spencer Davies Group etc thrown in the mix, not to mention all the Northern Soul stuff, which much like Motown and Stax, generally has epic basslines it's hard to pick just three.
  11. Memphis Soul Stew - King Curtis
  12. Funtime - Iggy Pop
  13. Where's Me Jumper - Sultans Of Ping FC
  14. Drain You - Nirvana
  15. Our very own @Twigmanwith Sad Lovers & Giants. I don't think he was with them when this was recorded, but has been with them for a long time. I really like this.
  16. Skinhead Moonstomp - Symarip
  17. He had one bourbon, one scotch and one beer, but was accused of plagiarism.
  18. Stop soiling your wet fjords?
  19. What a Waste - Ian Dury & The Blockheads I had resist the obvious, Too Much Too Young. ๐Ÿ˜
  20. I found Gang Of Four after being lent a mixtape with To Hell With Poverty on it, along with loads of obscure (to me then) post punk bands. This is so ahead of its time. 1979.
  21. Now I'm Feeling Zombified - Alien Sex Fiend
  22. Clam(p)down - The Clash
  23. White Coats - New Model Army
  24. Likewise with Hurt. I'm a fan of NIN but I still have to remind myself that Cash didn't write that song for himself.
  25. Duran Durans Rio is always a workout on doublebass. Sometimes it flows quite nicely, but sometimes I start to tense up as fatigue sets in, which only makes things worse. I'm always thankful when that less busy middle section starts, but it's soon back to the relentlessness again. Great fun but tiring on the hands/arms.
