  1. Funny you should say that. They haven't got their name on these. 😁
  2. Here we go 🙂. https://reverb.com/uk/item/4071344-fender-8250-5m-nickelplated-steel-taperwound-5-string-bass-strings
  3. I may be dreaming it but that packet with the sunburst Jazz looks identical to the Fender taperwound 5 string set I bought a while ago. Where there's a big gap above 'Nickelplated steel' it had the Fender logo. 🤔
  4. Although way over the 30 minute mark at 50 minutes, the 'Short Music For Short People' compilation has an impressive 101 tracks by 101 bands.
  5. There's this bridge available as a replacement for the standard one if you can't find a Pro. https://www.ebay.com/itm/233672307709
  6. That 'Antiprocrastination Song' drags on though doesn't it.
  7. Yes, there's solid block underneath the bridge. There has to be to hold the original bridge. Personally I'd go with the similar styled bridge with the adjustable saddles for intonation to keep the looks the same. Having said that I've just kept the original and the intonation is all but bang on. There is actually quite a lot of adjustment with the original. The wooden saddle has a single central screw in a longitudinal slot, allowing movement up and down and twisting. I've just biased it so that the G and D are spot and the A very, very close and the E is a whisker out. But you're less likely to need the E string higher up. Unless you're doing chordal playing it's not noticeable at all really.
  8. Possibly, yes. But I'd be more concerned as to why it has split. It doesn't look to follow the grain so I wouldn't think it was just old wood drying out or anything. If you glue it will the force that has caused it split continue to put stress on the crack? Or has it took an impact to cause it and won't have similar continued stress on it?
  9. On average I sell one bass per decade and I've only just sold one so I'm safe for a while, but I've got serious non buyers remorse at the moment. I saw an absolutely gorgeous late 60s Eko Florentine guitar for sale not too far away, debated for too long as I don't need it, but I love quirky, vintage designs and this has it in spadefuls. Anyway it sold and now I can't have it I really want it. Yes I am like a spoilt child. 🙂
  10. Dropping through sky, Through the glass of the roof, Through the roof of your mouth, Through the mouth of your eye, Through the eye of the needle, It's easier for me to get closer to Heaven Than ever feel whole again. Disintegration by The Cure. I love Liz Taylors, I mean Robert Smiths little word plays and phrasing. There's many, many more from their back catalogue.
  11. It's an excellent recovery of a terrible bandsaw accident when cutting the body shape. Maybe he's made some equaly lovely coasters out of the lower bout than got accidently cut off.
  12. Thanks @Teebs, maybe another restoration project on the cards then. Anyway I've derailed enough. Back to the suspense of what @Dandelionhas bought.
  13. There's something odd with it though. The pickup is routed slightly off centre (lining pole pieces up with the body laminate lines) and as such the bridge is way off centre. The strings run parallel to the fretboard but way off from the body laminate lines. It all looks untampered with though. Which made wonder if these were poor quality.
  14. I'm just going to ask a quick question here, sorry @Dandelion but you've left us all hanging with your teasing 😉. Is the Westone Thunder I with the single P pickup held in high regard along with the rest of the Thunders? There's one for sale near me for £150
  15. In relation to this question and not really the build, sorry @bertbass. Does it matter if the bottom of a fret slot doesn't follow the radius of the board? Is just cutting them flat and then tapping/glueing the fret in so that middle is hollow underneath OK, or is that a big no no. I assume it's better if the slot base is radius'd but is it vital?
  16. The 90s reissues had single piece neck (maple I think) with a seperatate headstock glued on with a scarf joint. Whatever this wood is, It's got D'addario half round strings which are on the stiffer end of strings and it's fine so far. Time will ultimately tell though.
  17. It was Ped, you quoted him. Do try and keep up.
  18. To be fair you said no obscure twaddle but have let Tales From Topographic Oceans slide.
