  1. The Ska & Mod revival period brought with it some great covers of original scene. The Specials and The Jam are right up there but The Beat, and later Fine Young Cannibals, did some fantastic covers of pop songs. This is a favourite. I prefer The Slits version of 'Heard It Through The Grapevine' to Marvin Gaye's. The little known UK Renegades did a little known version of the little known Bill Haley track '13 Women' which one of my favourites songs ever. If The Beatles had tried harder they could've been this good 😉. This is where I first the The Slits' Grapevine, loved this album when I was younger but lent it to a mate and never saw it again. I used to love that an unknown local band (Golant Pistons) were on there. I think the whole album of covers will play on that link, apart from Devo's Satisfaction, which is missing, copyright I presume.
  2. This looks like a fun way of playing with no pubs open at the mo. https://www.facebook.com/DrumTalkTV/videos/712427718835895/ Sorry about the Facebook link, can't seem to embed the clip, I assume it's a fb thing.
  3. Very nice, and like you say, being HB it'll be very playable I'd imagine. I think @stewblackhas their P bass in the same finish, it also looks a beaut. Also, dare I say it, I prefer the headstock shape to Fenders.
  4. Hard to Handle (Otis Reading)
  5. Driving home for Christmas (Chris Rea) Too early? 😁
  6. I've sent you a PM with my details. Just let me know how much you want for p&p. 🙂👍
  7. Tori Amos' Winter puts me slightly on edge all the way through and I find myself almost holding my breath until the chorus begins with a sigh of relief. But the tense feeling soon builds again until the beginning of the next chorus. It's a beautifully sad song.
  8. Fisherman's Blues (The Waterboys)
  9. That also looks good but appears to be about £20 from 'normal' booksellers. I like the bargains you can find in those cheapy book shops. I've actual ordered, or other people have, Alfie Noakes' book, Guy Pratts 'My Bass & Other Animals', and Soulsville USA the story of Stax Records. The one @Dad3353linked to is looking like it'll wait until my birthday in Feb, as the "we don't know what to get you" will be repeated. Thanks all 🙂👍
  10. Mine arrived yesterday. It's a Christmas present for me so I'll have to wait to read it. Looking forward to it though. 🙂👍
  11. Hold On, I'm Coming (Sam & Dave)
  12. Strange Little Girl (The Stranglers)
  13. You Need Hands (Max Bygraves)
  14. Psychomania (The Damned)
  15. Say a little prayer (Aretha Franklin)
  16. Holidays in the Sun (Sex Pistols)
  17. 10:15 Saturday Night (The Cure)
  18. Saturn 5 (Inspiral Carpets)
  19. The Only Living Boy In New Cross (Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine)
  20. Run to the hills (Iron Maiden)
  21. Thank you. I did think the FDeck was far too good to give away, my mistake. 🙂
  22. The Killing Moon (Echo and the Bunnymen)
  23. That's extremely generous of you @owen. I'll take the strat plate if that's OK. Also I wouldn't mind the FDeck but that's got to be worth waiting to see if it sells first surely.
  24. I've just a similar experience on Facebook. Far less money but something was advertised for £15. I said I'll have if it's still available. Seller tells me he still has it but he's going to re-list it, as due to the amount of interest he feels he advertised it too cheap. To be fair it was cheap but the seller doesn't know if it works so was listed as spares. I said OK what are you thinking. He says 50 quid and I say I'll leave it then. It's been re-listed at £25 and hasn't sold four days later. I'd've paid £25 if that was his first price but I don't like these tactics.
  25. First line of description. 'Original 1958 Fender Precision Bass'. Second line of description. 'Restored about 12 years ago.......' and goes on to say that nearly every part of it has been messed with. Soooo, talk to me about this word 'original' that you led with. 🙄
